Shoppers race to Lidl for ultimate festival and camping £15 buy – it can be used in a car or in a tent

LIDL is selling the perfect item for summer getaways this year.
This bargain buy is perfect for car or camping trips away from home.

Shoppers are rushing to buy the Crivit Car Air Bed, which is compact and convenient for cars and SUVs.
The neat napping tool is selling now for just £14.99 - available either on Lidl's website or in stores.
The item has a handy stabilising support base, meaning it can sit comfortably on the backseat of any car.
Happily, this base can also be removed so the bed can double up as a sleeping aide while staying in a tent.
Even more handy for campers, it has a quick release valve which means it can deflate quickly - perfect for a quick campsite exit.
The air bed also comes complete with a comfortable velour coating and two pillows.
The airbed is 135cm in length, 80cm in width and 10cm in height when inflated.
The pillows are suitably sized at 35cm in length, 20cm in width and 33cm in height.
The bed is light and easy to carry around at just 1.95kg, and can cradle sleepers of all sizes with a maximum load of 250kg.
The bed comes in grey, and boasts a three year warranty.
On Lidl's website, the company says: "The product can be inflated using a hand pump or an electric pump.
"It includes a practical storage bag, instructions and a repair kit."
Shoppers have taken to Facebook to react to the nifty gadget, with many praising the product.
"It's clever with festival season upon us," one said.
Another added: "Wish they had this when I was sleeping in a car, instead I was basically upside down to get comfy."
However, some prospective punters seemed to be concerned over the airbed's size.
One said: "I've seen this but can you imagine how claustrophobic it'd be lying width ways.
"I'd have to be a size 0!"
This bargain bed comes after Lidl have begun selling ice cool gel pillows that are easy to use and won't break the bank.
For just £7.99 on the Lidl plus app, shoppers can get their hands on the Silentnight Cooling Gel Pillow Pad.
That's more than £12 cheaper than a similar product on Argos, with the low price available until June 7.
Described as perfect for restless sleepers and over heaters, the pillow give you instant cooling comfort, so you don't need to flip your pillow during the night.
At 60x40cm it covers your entire pillow and simply needs to be slid inside your pillowcase on top of your normal pillow.

Students can get free AirPods for a limited time with this deal

If you're one of the thousands of young people to have received a place at university last week, you're likely embarking on the last-minute scramble to sort your accommodation, travel and equipment for the year ahead. Perhaps you're a returning student, and you've been working a summer job to upgrade a lousy laptop that decided to crash five minutes before your assignment is due. No matter what your reason is for wanting to upgrade your back-to-school tech, I've spied an incredible laptop deal. University students, parents and anyone working in education can get a free pair of AirPods 4 with the purchase of an iPad, MacBook or iMac. Of course, a brand new iPad, MacBook or Mac is a significant purchase, and as The Independent 's consumer writer, my main priority is to save you money. If you weren't planning on buying a brand new Mac, iPad, MacBook or iMac, it's not a financially responsible choice to drop hundreds of pounds just because Apple are throwing a pair of AirPods. Even with this deal, you'll be spending far more than you would if you bought a non-Apple tablet or laptop, and opted for a less expensive pair of our best wireless earbuds. If you're an Apple fan, you could also save hundreds by getting refurbished models from a reputable site like BackMarket. However, if you're set on a new iPad, Mac or MacBook, now's a good time to go for it. While third parties often beat Apple on price, through its Education Store, you can currently get up to 11 per cent off, plus a free pair of AirPods 4 to listen to your study playlist. Running until Tuesday 21 October, this deal is only available for a limited time. Here's what you need to know. Who can buy the student AirPods deal? We're calling it a student deal, but really, it's available to more people than that. Here's who can get it: New and returning university students Parents of new and returning university students Teachers and other employees of any educational institution, which includes not just universities but also schools and colleges You'll need to go to the Education Store and sign up using Unidays. Parents will need to get their child to verify through Unidays before completing a purchase. Education workers can create a Unidays staff account. Upgrade to the AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation As part of this deal, you can choose to upgrade to the AirPods Pro 2, usually sold for £229, for an additional £50. For example, if you get a MacBook Air on the Education Store for £899, and you choose the AirPods Pro, you'll pay £949. Similarly, if minimising background noise is important to you, there's an option to upgrade to the AirPods 4, usually sold for £129, with active noise cancellation. This will cost an extra £50, unless you're getting an iMac in which case no extra charge will be added. Other accessories included in this deal AirPods aren't the only accessories included in this deal. If you wanted to, you could get an Apple keyboard, mouse, trackpad or Apple pencil pro as part of some of the bundle offers. You'll be asked which accessory you want to choose before you check out – just make sure you check the total at the end so you don't end up paying an extra fee by accident. Get a free pair of AirPods 4 with these Apple deals We've listed the products you can get a free pair of AirPods with below. Each model has different options available for storage, size and colour, but we've listed the lowest price you can get each one from under the deal. You can get an iPad Air, with a pair of AirPods 4 included, on Apple's Education store. This isn't the cheapest price we've seen for this model, as you can nab it for £417.89 on On Buy, but with the AirPods 4 included, Apple comes out on top here. The iPad Pro, which tech critic David Phelan called 'monsterously powerful and impossibly thin', is 11 per cent off on Apple's education store. Again, this price is beaten by On Buy, which is selling it for £747, but you won't get the AirPods 4 included. This tech icon is on sale for 11 per cent off on Apple's Education Store with AirPods 4 thrown in. Not bothered about the AirPods? You can get it without from Amazon for £849. You can save £100 on the latest MacBook Pro, and get a pair of AirPods thrown in when you buy it via Apple's Education store. At the time of writing, this is the lowest price for a new MacBook Pro from a reputable retailer. Though a £50 discount might not seem like much for a product this costly, this is the best price we've seen for an iMac at the moment – and that's without factoring in the AirPods 4, which you'll get bundled in.

Car Deal of the Day: Cupra Formentor offers style, power and low running costs for £253 a month

Stand-out looks; Desirable V2 model 201bhp; 74-mile electric range Just £252.91 a month Spot a Cupra on the road and it'll most likely be the Cupra Formentor. The performance brand's first official model (rather than being a rebadged SEAT like the Ateca and Leon) has been a tremendous success. And it's little wonder when there are deals like this available. Advertisement - Article continues below You can get the keys to an entry-level Formentor V1 petrol for just £246.82 a month from Leasing Options, but we'd be tempted to fork out an extra £6.09 a month to get this higher spec V2 plug-in hybrid version. The V2 gets an added range of tasty extras, such as larger 19-inch alloys, heated front seats, an electrically-adjustable driver's seat with memory function, and a hands-free electric tailgate. That's on top of the standard car's 12.9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sports seats and a wireless phone charger. To get this deal you'll need to set aside £3,384.91 as an initial payment, followed by 24 payments of £252.91. Mileage is capped at 5,000 miles a year, but an 8,000-mile limit can be had for an extra £30.86 a month. Under the bonnet you'll find one of the Volkswagen Group's punchy but very frugal 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid petrol engines. With 201bhp and an electric motor, performance is pretty punchy, but the star of the show here is the pure-electric range. At 74 miles, you could reasonably travel around without ever touching the petrol engine in typical everyday driving. Cupra recently gave the Formentor a refreshed look on the outside, with a tweaked front and rear-end to add more presence. Regardless, with its beefy proportions and sloping roofline it's still a very handsome machine. The sporty looks are backed up with a sharp driving experience, too. The Car Deal of the Day selections we make are taken from our own Auto Express Find A Car deals service, which includes the best current offers from car dealers and leasing companies around the UK. Terms and conditions apply, while prices and offers are subject to change and limited availability. If this deal expires, you can find more top Cupra Formentor leasing offers from leading providers on our Cupra Formentor page. Best mattress deals to expect this Black Friday 2025

It might still be summer, but my mind is already racing ahead to the biggest shopping event of the year – Black Friday, which lands this November. Known for its massive discounts across just about every category imaginable, Black Friday is the perfect time to snap up deals on everything from air fryers and TVs to vacuum cleaners, smartphones, and even your favourite beauty buys. While the savings across tech and kitchen appliances are certainly impressive, one of the standout categories every year is mattresses. Considering we spend roughly a third of our lives asleep, investing in a high-quality mattress is one of the smartest choices you can make – and Black Friday (along with Cyber Monday) is the ideal time to do it. Mattresses don't come cheap, but the right deal could save you hundreds of pounds. As The Independent' s resident sleep expert, I've tested dozens of mattresses over the years. I've tried memory foam, hybrids, pocket-sprung, and even cot mattresses for your little ones. But with mattresses commanding such high prices, I've made it my mission to stay ahead of the game and bring you the very best deals as they drop. I'll be keeping tabs on all the top offers in the lead-up to Black Friday 2025 and throughout the sales event itself. But if you can't wait until then, here's what to expect from this year's deals – plus a few early offers you can shop right now. When is Black Friday 2025? Black Friday officially kicks off on Friday 28 November 2025, and runs through to Cyber Monday on 1 December. However, if previous years are anything to go by, many retailers will start dropping their deals as early as the beginning of November. I'll be updating this page regularly in the lead-up to the big event, so you can stay on top of the best early Black Friday mattress deals as soon as they go live. What mattress deals can you expect on Black Friday? When it comes to mattress deals on Black Friday, you can expect some of the biggest savings of the year. In last year's sale, I saw major discounts from some of the most trusted and best-loved mattress brands, including Simba, Panda, Eve Sleep and even Premier Inn 's range. This year, even more of their top-rated models are expected to be included in the event – from bestselling hybrids and memory foam options to eco-friendly designs and hotel-quality picks. Whether your current mattress has seen better days, you're after a more affordable option for the spare room, or you're shopping for your toddler's very first bed, there'll be no shortage of deals to choose from. Whatever your sleep needs or budget, Black Friday is a brilliant time to find a great mattress at a seriously reduced price. What is Black Friday? Black Friday is the biggest sales event of the year, taking place on the fourth Friday of November – the day after Thanksgiving in the US. It's widely seen as the best time to bag a bargain before Christmas, with deals usually running through the weekend and wrapping up on Cyber Monday. Alongside major discounts on popular products like the Apple AirPods Pro 2 and Meta Quest 3, it's also one of the best times to save big on mattresses. Whether you're after a memory foam, hybrid, or pocket-sprung design, Black Friday often brings the lowest-ever prices on bestselling beds – making it the perfect moment to upgrade your sleep setup for less. Why you can trust us to find the best mattress deals on Black Friday I have been testing mattresses for years, so I know exactly what makes one worth your money. All those nights spent resting and rigorously testing mean I'm well-placed to spot the most impressive Black Friday deals – particularly on models I've personally put through their paces and rated highly. The IndyBest team and I have also been covering Black Friday for years, so we know how to cut through the noise to find genuine deals from trusted brands and retailers. Whether it's a premium pick from Simba or a budget-friendly option from Dusk, you can trust us to highlight the mattress deals that are actually worth it. Simba hybrid luxe mattress, double: Was £1,699, now £1,342.21, Simba is currently running a generous bank holiday sale, offering up to 20 per cent off products across its website – including IndyBest's favourite mattress, the hybrid luxe. This premium mattress, which impressed both me and IndyBest writer Helen Wilson-Beevers during testing, is now available with a substantial discount of £357 off the double size. All other sizes are included in the offer, making it a great opportunity to invest in better sleep. 'I've found the mattress to be supremely comfy and sumptuously supportive,' Helen wrote in her review. 'In fact, I would go as far as to say the Simba hybrid luxe mattress has transformed my sleep, leading to an increased feeling of restfulness at bedtime.' Nectar's hybrid mattress was named the best option for medium firmness in my guide to the top mattresses – and right now, it comes with a huge discount. With eight layers including foam, micro-springs, memory foam, and a supportive base, it's designed to relieve pressure points and keep your spine aligned. I was especially impressed by how well it minimised motion transfer – I barely noticed my restless sleeping partner moving beside me. Even guests remarked on how comfortable it was. If you're looking to invest in a luxury mattress, now could be the time to do it, as there's 24 per cent off the Hypnos pillow top elite. Chosen as the best firm mattress in my round-up, I found it to be breathable and supportive. "If you need extra support from a mattress for any ongoing aches and pains, then there is a high chance this mattress could be what you've been looking for," I wrote. "It offers a supportive amount of firmness without feeling hard. It moulds to your body without feeling like you're sinking, which means it's also perfect for motion isolation. You won't feel anyone sharing the bed." High-quality, great value mattresses aren't just for adults. Parenting and mattress expert Zoe has put together a guide to the best kids' mattresses, and one of her top picks is currently 40 per cent off. She was particularly impressed by this option from The Woolroom, praising its hypoallergenic, antibacterial, and chemical-free design. 'An impressive 1,000 springs provide ample support across the whole mattress, and, overall, we were hugely impressed. This mattress is definitely up there with the best,' she wrote in her review. While it's not the biggest discount, there's currently 10 per cent off the Origin hybrid pro mattress in the brand's bank holiday sale. Named the best mattress for pressure relief in my buying guide, I found it kept me cool on warm summer nights while offering excellent support, whether I was sleeping on my back or side. 'It's ideal for those seeking real relief from pressure points and a great option for optimal support without compromising on cosiness,' I wrote in my review. Topping our best kids' mattress guide, parenting writer Zoe highlighted its 'cushioned top layer and airflow comfort layer,' which make it 'incredibly comfortable for little sleepers.' She also noted that 'the pocket springs provide ample support for growing bodies.' Now with an impressive 20 per cent off, there's no better time to upgrade your child's sleep setup. Here's another Simba mattress that really impressed me in testing. In my review, I wrote that 'Sinkage is perfect, as is the balance of support and cloud-like cushioning. Its medium firmness is suited to side, front or back sleepers, while its breathability makes it a stellar option for anyone who tends to overheat at night.' Priced at just over £600, it's a brilliant all-rounder.
