"Pacific Rim" TV Series in Works

Yara Sameh
The 'Pacific Rim' TV series has found a home at Amazon.
The live-action project, which Variety exclusively reported on in 2024, is now in development at Prime Video in a deal between lead studio Legendary Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
As previously reported, Eric Heisserer will serve as writer and executive producer under his Chronology banner.
The show is the first project under Chronology's first-look TV deal with Legendary. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps, but the show will serve as a prequel to the films. According to sources, there is still the potential for new films in the franchise as well.
The first film in the franchise was directed by Guillermo del Toro from a screenplay by del Toro and Travis Beacham.
It came out in 2013 and grossed over $400 million at the global box office.
The sequel, 'Pacific Rim Uprising,' bowed in 2018, while the anime series 'Pacific Rim: The Black' aired two seasons on Netflix between 2021 and 2022.
The franchise also includes comic books, novels, toys, and more.
In 'Pacific Rim,' an inter-dimensional rift opens at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, allowing massive monsters (a.k.a kaijus) to enter our world and begin attacking humanity. In response, humans begin constructing giant fighting robots called Jaegers.
Heisserer was most recently the writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the 'Shadow and Bone' TV series at Netflix, which was based on the Grishaverse YA novels.
He received an Academy Award nomination for best adapted screenplay for the film 'Arrival' in 2017. His other feature writing credits include the hit Netflix film 'Bird Box' as well as 'Lights Out,' 'Hours' (which he also directed), 'Bloodshot,' and the 2010 remake of 'A Nightmare on Elm Street.'
This is the latest development news from Legendary TV and Amazon MGM Studios in recent weeks.
It was previously reported that the two studios, along with Pacesetter Productions, had struck a deal to develop a series based G. T. Karber's murder mystery puzzles 'Murdle.' Legendary's current slate also includes the live-action Monsterverse series 'Monarch' at Apple TV+ as well as shows like 'Dune: Prophecy' at Max and the animated series 'The Legend of Lara Croft' at Netflix.

Chris Hemsworth Reveals 'Gear Shift' in His Life since Learning About Alzheimer's Risk

Yara Sameh Chris Hemsworth has opened up about finding out he had a greater chance of developing Alzheimer's disease was a "gear shift" in his life motivations During a genetic test in season one of "Limitless: Live Better Now," the Australian actor discovered that he is, biologically, eight to 10 times more likely than others to have the brain disorder during his lifetime as he carries two copies of the APOE4 gene. He had first taken part in the National Geographic show to be its "guinea pig" and face new experiences that challenge the body and mind. But after taking the test, the 41-year-old Thor, Furiosa and Transformers star was faced with an unexpected truth. One in every 50 people inherits two copies of the APOE4 gene and research has found that nearly all double carriers show key early signs of the disease which causes dementia by the age of 55. Everyone's risk is different, and evidence suggests there are things you can do to reduce your risk whether you're a carrier of the gene or not, including not smoking, reducing alcohol intake, daily exercise, monitoring cholesterol and blood pressure and eating a balanced diet. Speaking of when he found out he was a double carrier, Hemsworth told Sky News: "It was just kind of this point in my life where up until your 40s, you're kind of gathering data and information and it's all reactionary and then you get to a point where you think, oh some of this sort of identity that I've sort of built doesn't hold anymore. "There's some inner sort of protest or inner voice that has a deeper need to understand and there's deeper questions and what is the purpose and the why behind what I'm doing ... and what am I seeking, what am I contributing, as opposed to just what I am collecting." Reacting on screen, he said it made him shift his focus to living better and increase the chances of him spending as much time as possible with his family and friends. What's changed in the second season? The change in mindset is evident in season two. "This time around, I was very involved in the orchestration and the sort of production and bringing together spaces that I was interested in or there was a deep curiosity or were deeply personal to me. And it was more sort of experiential journalism as opposed to a contestant in a challenging kind of fun, reality show. He added: "I was much more committed or invested in the experience. And I was a bit more educated on the topics too. I had to research, I had a deeper point of view, I suppose, personally, but also sort of the education I was given prior and I enjoyed that more, to be honest, I didn't like that I felt very uncomfortable in the first season because I was standing around all these experts and I knew nothing about these topics, yet I was kind of asked to speak on them and so I felt like an imposter the entire time." "Limitless: Live Better Now" looks at how you can improve your brain and body's health through endurance challenges and learning a new instrument. Teaming up with Sheeran Hemsworth chose the drums and, taking it to the extreme, was set the task of joining his friend Ed Sheeran on stage to play "Thinking Out Loud". "That fear and that anxiety was incredibly overwhelming," Hemsworth said, detailing how he felt "underwater" in the weeks leading up to the event. "It's weird the way intense situations actually cause a hyper focus; it's a survival mechanism of the brain,". "Some of the other challenges where if I did the training it was beneficial, but I could kind of muscle my way through it. You can't do that with a musical instrument and then the realisation that the entire band is relying on you to keep time. And then 70,000 people are sitting there going, 'please don't wreck our favourite song'." Reflecting on the moment, he says it's one of the most magical feelings he's ever had. "The joy was unlike anything I've ever experienced. You know, if you could bottle that and have it in a healthy way and not have all the negatives that someone may have for it, it was amazing. It was a true kind of one of my first probably proper out of body experiences, I suppose,". "It was like, I kind of remember being in the out, looking down at myself almost, kind of going, wow, I'm kind of floating along with this thing that's so much bigger than me and I'm in true sort of flow state with it." Film "Saffah Al-Tagamoa" Adds Mariam El Gendy to Cast

Yara Sameh Egyptian actress Mariam El Gendy has joined Ahmed El Fishawy and Cynthia Khalifeh in the film "The Fifth Settlement Murderer" ("Saffah Al-Tagamoa"). Written and directed by Mohamed Salah Al-Azab and produced by Ahmed El Sobky, the film features El Fishawy playing Karim Selim, known in the media as the Saffah Al-Tagamoa. This is the second project to be developed about the murderer. In June 2024, Azab, the scribe of the crime TV series "Saffah Al Giza", is penning the series. The 8-episode show is produced by Ahmed El Sobky and has actor Hassan El Raddad lined up to take the lead role. Dubbed "the Fifth Settlement Murderer", in connection with a luxurious gated community on the outskirts of Cairo where he lived and killed his victims, Selim, a 36-year-old man and holder of a US passport, admitted during interrogation in May 2024 that he killed an unidentified number of women, other than the three whose bodies were discovered earlier that month. In the next weeks, the bodies of the women were discovered separately, each unclothed in deserted areas in provinces outside Cairo, as their clothes were extracted in other faraway areas afterward. The autopsy reports suggest that the three women were killed by the same person, as all showed similar signs of torture, including strangulation and flogging wounds. The evidence against the perpetrator also included a fingerprint on one of the women's clothes. Laboratory tests of the components of their stomach and blood further indicated narcotics in their system. Following investigations and the examination of CCTV footage in the areas leading to the location of the bodies, security forces managed to identify and apprehend the suspect. The authorities confiscated two mobile phones and a laptop belonging to him, on which he videotaped the incidents committed inside a soundproof room at his flat allocated for his practices. The videos in question showed him performing intercourse with his victims after they died. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he knew his victims online, some of whom he claimed were courtesans. The suspect asked them to come over to his home, where he performed unusual sexual activities with them before he forced the women to consume drugs and killed them. The suspect acquired a college degree from the most prestigious university in Egypt, the American University in Cairo, and had worked as a teacher at an international school before he quit his job. He created a TikTok channel where he taught American English. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
