Parents 'abandon child, 10, at airport after he's blocked from boarding'
Parents abandoned their 10‑year‑old child at Barcelona –El Prat Airport after his passport was rejected, it has been claimed.
Flying as a child can be an intensely exciting and slightly scary experience. The early morning wake‑up, the hubbub of the airport, and the rush of taking off all feel particularly thrilling when you're doing them for the first time.
Such thrills seemingly turned sour for one child, who was left standing in the terminal while his parents boarded an international flight, according to a woman claiming to work at the Spanish airport. The claims have emerged as more details have become public on a new entry/exit system to the EU.
TikToker Lilian Limasin, who claims to be an air‑operations coordinator, has published a video detailing the alleged experience. She said that the ordeal came to light when the flight was suddenly called back to its parking position. The turnaround occurred after police informed her that a child had been found alone in the terminal's public area, not the secure airside zone.
'I had all the passengers on board. So when they told me a child had been found in the terminal, I couldn't understand how he had been left behind,' she claimed.
According to Limasin, authorities discovered the boy, who told them his parents had left him at the airport while they boarded a flight back. Having realised his Spanish passport required a visa for their destination, and because his foreign passport had expired, the boarding staff told him that he would not be allowed to fly.
Not wanting to swallow the costs of rebooking or cancelling their trip, they left him in the terminal and called a relative to pick him up, the TikToker claimed. The plane was brought to a shuddering halt when air‑traffic control contacted the cockpit and requested confirmation. The pilot allegedly asked over the PA if anyone had left a child behind, but received no response.
Police then boarded the plane and identified the parents using a list of passengers known to be onboard. Limasin claimed that they were removed from the flight and taken to the airport police station for questioning.
'These are the kinds of stories you never forget. As a mother, I can't imagine leaving my child behind even for a second, let alone to go on holiday,' she said. 'I didn't see it as normal and the police didn't see it as normal either.'
She added: 'I remember when my daughter was little I would lose her for a second and the girl would already be there, and as a mother I would freak out.'
The veracity of the TikToker's claims is difficult to verify. The Mirror has contacted Limasin to ask her to provide more details about the incident. A spokesperson for El Prat Airport declined the opportunity to comment, saying they did not have any information on the issue to share.

US vice president JD Vance to stay with David Lammy as he holidays in Britain
Mr Vance and his family will begin their summer holiday this Friday with a stay at Chevening, the Foreign Secretary's Grade I-listed mansion in Kent, according to the Telegraph newspaper. The pair are said to have developed a warm friendship, bonding over their difficult childhoods and shared Christian faith. Mr Lammy is reported to have attended mass at the vice president's Washington residence during a visit in March, and now plans to repay the favour with the stay at his country home. The two are expected to hold a bilateral meeting before being joined by their families at Chevening. 'Lammy has visited Vance's family and the relationship looks like it will continue to grow on a personal as well as a professional basis,' a source told the Telegraph. The vice president and his family are also expected to visit Hampton Court Palace during their trip to the UK, the mainstay of which will be spent in the Cotswolds. Mr Vance's British holiday comes just weeks after Donald Trump travelled to Scotland, on a private visit his golf courses. There he also met with EU chief Ursula von der Leyen to agree a trade deal with the bloc, and with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Mr Trump will return to the UK for a full state visit in September. The Foreign Secretary's burgeoning relationship with Mr Vance represents a political change of heart, as he was once an outspoken critic of Mr Trump. Mr Lammy described the US president as a 'racist and KKK/neo-Nazi sympathiser' when Labour was in opposition, but since coming to power has brushed off his remarks as 'old news'. Asked about Mr Vance's visit to the UK, a Foreign Office spokesman said: 'Ministerial engagements will be announced in the usual way.'

Woman 'fuming' after walking to top of Yr Wyddfa only to see 'p*** take' on summit
Woman 'fuming' after walking to top of Yr Wyddfa only to see 'p*** take' on summit A woman has gone viral after sharing her experience of walking to the top of the mountain 'Why the hell would you want to get the train to the top of Snowdon?' asked Hettie, known as Hettie's Holidays on TikTok A woman who hiked to the top of Yr Wyddfa was left gobsmacked when she discovered she could have taken a train instead. Hettie, known as Hettie's Holidays on TikTok, shared her hilarious story on social media, leaving viewers in fits of laughter. She expressed her disbelief that others had simply taken a leisurely train ride for a day out. Her video has since gone viral, amassing over 100,000 likes. It seems there's nothing like a good old-fashioned gaffe to get people chuckling, right? In the video, she exclaimed: "Do you know what's a p*** take when you get to the top of Snowdon? People who have got the train. Firstly, why the hell would you want to get the train to the top of Snowdon?" For our free daily briefing on the biggest issues facing the nation, sign up to the Wales Matters newsletter here . "What is the point? Does that not defeat the whole object? Unless you need to get the train for any specific reason, if you've just done it to come to the top, nah." The TikToker seemed frustrated by the lack of space for her to rest her weary feet. She added: "People are sat up here having a gourmet lunch dressed in Converse, dresses, blouses - sat having like a birthday family lunch, and people have hiked and walked. We're aching, we're freezing and people are just not even offering seats." While Hettie clarified she wasn't demanding they offer their seats, she questioned why one would choose to visit the area just for lunch. She pointed out there's only "one little restaurant" and diners end up surrounded by people who are "really cold". She was left perplexed as people appeared to bring their "newborn babies" for baby showers at the location. She concluded her video with a simple statement alongside her friend: "Nah, that's not good with us." The video has since sparked a flurry of comments from thousands of viewers, who seem divided on the issue. While some sympathised with Hettie's perspective, others pointed out that climbing is entirely optional. One individual commented: "This reminds me of the time I scaled the Eiffel Tower, and everyone in the lift didn't let me sit down when I got to the top." Another echoed her sentiments, writing: "So with you. Remember when I climbed to the top of the Shard, and everyone got the lift, sat there drinking, enjoying the views. Abseiled back down ASAP." However, not everyone was supportive. A third person responded: "The thing about climbing Snowdon is that it's completely optional. Hope this helps." A fourth added: "You're making it sound like you've done a difficult climb. I've seen eight-year-olds go up Snowdon." Article continues below
