Boston Celtics jersey history No. 20 - Mo Wagner (2021)
The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history.
To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team.
With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover.
And for today's article, we will continue with the 30th of 31 people to wear the No. 20 jersey, Boston big man alum Moritz Wagner. After ending his college career at Michigan, Wagner was picked up with the 25th overall selection of the 2018NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Berlin, Germany native would play the first season of his pro career with the Lakers. He would also play for the Washington Wizards before he was dealt to Boston in 2021. His stay with the team would span just nine games before he would be cut by the team.
During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Wagner wore only jersey No. 20 and put up 1.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

NBA approves sale of Boston Celtics for a record $6.1 billion

BOSTON — The NBA on Wednesday unanimously approved the sale of the Boston Celtics to a group led by private equity mogul Bill Chisholm, a deal that values the franchise at more than $6.1 billion — the largest ever for an American professional sports team. The league said the transaction is expected to close shortly. When it does, Chisholm will take ownership of at least 51% of the team, with full control coming by 2028 at a price that could bring the total value to $7.3 billion. The previous record for a U.S. sports franchise was the $6.05 billion paid for the NFL's Washington Commanders in 2023. The record price for an NBA team was the $4 billion mortgage firm owner Mat Ishbia paid for the Phoenix Suns in 2023. A Massachusetts native and graduate of Dartmouth College and Penn's Wharton School of business, Chisholm is the managing partner of California-based Symphony Technology Group. The new ownership group also includes Boston businessmen Rob Hale, who is a current Celtics shareholder, and Bruce Beal Jr. Wyc Grousbeck led the ownership group that bought the team in 2002 for $360 million and presided over NBA championships in 2008 and '24. The franchise's 18 NBA titles is a record. Chisholm outbid at least two other groups, one led by previous Celtics minority partner Steve Pagliuca. Pagliuca has since announced plans to but the WNBA's Connecticut Sun for $325 million and move them to Boston, but the women's league has balked at the deal.

Blazers' Jrue Holiday's Nike ‘Celtics' shoes still releasing soon despite trade

The post Blazers' Jrue Holiday's Nike 'Celtics' shoes still releasing soon despite trade appeared first on ClutchPoints. Two-time NBA Champion Jrue Holiday will be turning a new leaf in his career as he prepares for his first season in a Portland Trail Blazers uniform. Hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy on his last two squads, Holiday will look to become a cornerstone of this young roster looking to win their first championship since 1977. However, Holiday will have one last memory with Celtics fans as Nike releases his GT Cut 3 PE sneakers from last season. Check our Sneakers news for more upcoming releases and breaking content! Jrue Holiday was traded to Portland in exchange for Anfernee Simons as both teams take their front courts in new directions. Holiday will also be hunting for his first 'Defensive Player of the Year' honor after being considered one of the best perimeter defenders in the league over the last 10 years. Holiday has been known to be a massive supporter of Sabrina Ionescu's signature Nike Sabrina line, but last season saw him adding the Nike Air Zoom GT Cut 3 to his arsenal as the performance-based model made massive waves in the league. After rotating through a number of player exclusive (PE) iterations, Nike will decide to continue their release of this 'Celtics' colorway. 'Celtics' Nike Air Zoom GT Cut 3 PE The Jrue Holiday PE arrives in an expansive color palette of Alabaster/Clay Green/Green Shock/Gum/Medium Brown/Black, worn by Holiday throughout last season to match the Celtics color scheme. The colorway blends traditional Boston shades of green with earth-toned accents, making for a very clean sneaker. Based in a Nike Air Zoom outsole, the shoes will feature Holiday's previous No. 4 on the back heel. As it stands, early and exclusive pairs are available on the aftermarket for around $600, giving the impression that this will be a limited release. The shoes were unveiled during Nike's recent SNKRS showcase and will arrive on the SNKRS app and Nike platforms on August 28, 2025. The shoes come with a premium retail tag of $200, so don't miss out on your chance to grab this limited release!

Now that the Boston Celtics sale is official, with the CT Sun stay in New England?

The Boston Celtics have officially traded hands with the NBA voting unanimously to approve the sale of the team to Bill Chisholm, but the sale of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun is murkier than ever -- and Chisholm is not the only current or former Celtics owner entangled in the mess behind a push to keep the ball club in New England. Former Boston minority owner Steve Pagliuca tried to buy the Sun to move them to the city his former team calls home, but the WNBA pushed back in a very public manner, and now it is not clear if the Sun will move to another market entirely instead, to Hartford under a group led by former Milwaukee Bucks owner Mark Lasry, or if the team will end up headed to Boston via expansion (under Chisholm) in the future, or Pagliuca in the present. To get a better idea of what is going on with all of this debacle, the hosts of "Havlicek Stole the Pod" linked up with SB Nation's Noa Dalzell to talk it over. Check it out below!
