Polar's new Grit X2 watch compared to Coros Pace Pro and Garmin Instinct 3

Polar has just dropped its new Grit X2 multisport adventure and endurance watch.
It's technically a more affordable version of the Grit X2 Pro, which was announced in March 2024. When we reviewed that we said it was a 'smartwatch built for outdoor adventures with up to eight days battery life'.
Polar Grit X2 has a smaller screen, slightly inferior water resistance rating (5ATM) and shorter battery life (seven days) when compared to the Grit X2 Pro (10 days). But crucially, it employs the same software as the Grit X2 Pro, updated to the latest Polar OS 4.0.
Other key features include highly scratch resistant Sapphire crystal screen covering, stainless steel watch surround, slim 79g design, 1.28in AMOLED display, dual-band GPS, full colour offline topographic maps, 32GB of built-in storage and support for more advanced readings like ECG heart monitoring and skin temperature.
The €479 wearable meets MIL-STD-810H military standards for durability. This means it is resistant to extreme temperatures, shock and immersion.
One of the most compelling features is the replaceable battery. It will cost €39.90 (plus shipping) and this prolongs the life of the device and offers users significantly better long term value than other wearables.
Garmin launched Instinct 3 earlier this year and it is another rugged and durable watch that comes in at a similar price to the new Polar.
It also meets MIL-STD-810H military standards, offers lengthy battery life and includes a wide range of the firm's acclaimed training and recovery tools.
The downside is Instinct 3 does not include full colour topographical maps but it does have a 1.3in AMOLED display.
The Coros Pace Pro has a similar 1.3in AMOLED screen but it does not have the Polar Grit X2's premium glass and bezel materials in the build. This means it weighs much less - just 49g.
Pace Pro puts the emphasis on core running and triathlon features and Coros has a great reputation for long-term after-sales software support and updates.
This wearable is the least expensive of the three models we compared as it costs just€399.
Polar Grit X2 costs €479 from Polar. You can also buy it from Amazon.

Phillies' Jhoan Duran Feeling '100 Percent' Day After Taking Liner Off Ankle

Major League Baseball Phillies' Jhoan Duran Feeling '100 Percent' Day After Taking Liner Off Ankle Published Aug. 16, 2025 4:40 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link Philadelphia Phillies closer Jhoan Duran described himself as "100 percent" on Saturday, a day after he left a 6-2 victory over Washington after taking a line drive off his right ankle. "I'm normal, like nothing happened," Duran said. The right-hander, who has four saves in five scoreless appearances since he was acquired in a trade with Minnesota last month, was hit by Paul DeJong's leadoff shot in the ninth inning Friday. Duran limped off into foul territory and eventually was taken off the field by the Nationals' bullpen cart. Manager Rob Thomson said X-rays were negative Friday and declared Duran "good to go" Saturday. "He actually walked out to the bus pretty good, and then he came in normal," Thomson said. Thomson also said the Phillies plan to activate third baseman Alec Bohm on Sunday. Bohm went on the injured list July 19 with a fractured left rib. He is hitting .278 with eight homers and 42 RBIs. K.J. Henry Lifts Dillon Gabriel-led Browns to Preseason Win vs. Eagles

National Football League K.J. Henry Lifts Dillon Gabriel-led Browns to Preseason Win vs. Eagles Published Aug. 16, 2025 4:44 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link The Cleveland Browns had to turn to other quarterbacks with rookie Shedeur Sanders injured. The decisive touchdown came on defense instead of from relief quarterbacks. K.J. Henry returned an interception 45 yards for a score in the third quarter to send the Browns to a 22-13 preseason win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. In a game missing almost all regular-season starters on both sides — Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley sat out for the defending Super Bowl champions while Myles Garrett and Jerry Jeudy rested for the Browns — the Eagles got a better look at their draft picks fighting for playing time. Andrew Mukuba returned an interception 75 yards for a score and recovered a fumble, and Jihaad Campbell had a sack, an impressive showing for the Eagles' top two 2025 draft picks. Maybe somewhere actor Matthew McConaughey was impressed. McConaughey, a Texas Longhorns superfan, had a social media post in support of Mukuba when the safety was drafted out of Texas in the second round. ADVERTISEMENT Mukuba missed time early in training camp with a shoulder injury and returned only in the last few days to take first-team reps. He was in the right spot to pick off a pass from Dillon Gabriel. Mukuba took it all the way for the 75-yard score and a 7-6 lead. He added a fumble recovery later and broke up a pass in the second half, the kind of plays needed to close the gap in his competition with Sydney Brown for the starting spot. Campbell, a linebacker out of Alabama selected 31st overall, sacked Gabriel on the second play of the game. The Eagles just may have found two more defensive gems to make meaningful contributions in their pursuit of another title. The Eagles and Browns both played it safe with their starters after the two teams held a pair of joint practices earlier in the week. Sanders hurt his oblique in the first practice and did not play Saturday. The Browns started Gabriel, a third-round pick who worked his way back into the lineup after he had been sidelined with an injured hamstring. Gabriel was 13 of 18 passing for 143 yards and the pick-6. Tyler "Snoop" Huntley played in the second half and was 10 of 13 for 71 yards. Dorian Thompson-Robinson threw a pick-6 to Henry that gave Cleveland a 19-13 lead in the third. Thompson-Robinson was replaced by Kyle McCord, another 2025 draft pick, in the next series. McCord, who is from nearby Mount Laurel, New Jersey, and was raised as an Eagles fan, threw a touchdown pass and threw for 47 yards overall. The Eagles had just 88 total yards. Ahmani Marshall rushed for a 4-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the game. (Photo) Sanders out Sanders, who covered his head with a towel as he watched from the sideline, didn't play after he sustained an oblique injury during drills ahead of practice Wednesday. The Browns said he is day to day. Sanders completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards with two first-half touchdown passes to Kaden Davis in his NFL preseason debut in a win in the opener over Carolina. The 40-year-old Joe Flacco, in the mix to start the season opener, also sat out. And Kenny Pickett didn't play as he recovers from a hamstring injury. High snap Yes, Thompson-Robinson threw the pick-6, but he wasn't helped by a high snap from Brett Toth. Toth played at center and Drew Kendall was at left guard as the Eagles tried to get by without the injured Landon Dickerson. Dickerson has been sidelined since he suffered a right knee injury at an open practice. The Eagles have not given a timeline for his absence or ruled him out for the season opener. Up next The Browns host the Rams on Saturday. The Eagles play Friday at the Jets. Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? How did Dillon Gabriel play today? Grading Browns rookie QB vs. Eagles

Another week, another rookie quarterback makes his debut for the Cleveland Browns. One week after Shedeur Sanders shined in his pro debut, it was Dillon Gabriel's turn to run the offense for Cleveland in Week 2. Gabriel remained at the controls for the entire first half as the Browns possessed the ball five times in the opening 30 minutes. Tyler Huntley came on in relief for the former Oregon quarterback at the start of the second half, closing the book on Gabriel's debut. The third-round rookie undoubtedly faced some added pressure coming into this contest, especially after Sanders' performance in Week 1. As the Browns quarterback battle heats up, Gabriel made sure to throw his hat into the ring. Here's how the rookie fared in his first NFL action. Dillon Gabriel grade: Browns rookie solid in debut Gabriel completed 13-of-18 pass attempts, finishing with 143 yards, an interception and a lost fumble. He targeted 10 different receivers in his debut. After taking a sack on his second play from scrimmage, Gabriel kept his poise in the pocket, stepping up and delivering a 3rd-and-10 completion to Blake Whiteheart. There were some happy feet at times as he bounced around behind the line, however. Gabriel did seem hesistant to scramble, which is understandable considering his hamstring injury – bringing some extra attention to his arm talent. The rookie showed off his accuracy in his first preseason action, which was highlighted by the ball placement on a 3rd-and-5 completion to Jamari Thrash on the opening drive. move those chains!#CLEvsPHI on NFLN, @WEWS & NFL+ Cleveland would march for a touchdown on the opening drive. However, the rookie can't make that throw in traffic and will learn that throwing it away is a better decision in that situation. The quarterback would later cough up a fumble on a handoff, which we'll likely attribute to his hindered mobility. Still, that is something that will need to be cleaned up. Gabriel's performance had some highs and lows, but it was still a solid day at the office. The mistakes will need to be cleaned up, but we'll consider his limited mobility from the hamstring injury as something that balances the score. The quarterback flashed accuracy and timing, unfazed by concerns about his lack of size. Despite pressure from the Eagles defense, he remained mostly poised throughout. The Browns and their fans should be pleased with Gabriel's outing. Now the hope will be that both Gabriel and Sanders can suit up in the preseason finale to allow for a better comparison between the two.
