Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Skipped the Time100 Gala

Yahoo25-04-2025

Meghan Markle was the keynote speaker at the Time100 Summit on Wednesday, discussing the success of her three projects: her show With Love, Meghan; podcast Confessions of a Female Founder; and business As Ever. Prince Harry was with her at the event, and their joint appearance fueled speculation that the couple could have a red carpet date night at the Time100 Gala on Thursday.
The event came and went, though, without any sign of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. However, during her Time100 Summit talk, Meghan hinted at why their trip to New York would be brief. It turns out the couple had a very important milestone they needed to get back to their home in Montecito, California, for: Their 5-year-old son, Archie, losing his first tooth.
Meghan explained her rationale, saying her business decisions and achievements are 'as equally important to me as Archie losing his first tooth this week, which is about to happen, and I just hope I'm back home in time for it.'
'It all matters,' she continued. 'And when you look at your life from that perspective, which frankly, being a parent is the most illuminating perspective because what is so, so big somehow becomes microscopic in importance to what's happening with your children. That's certainly how I feel. You just make time to do it all, and I think maybe that's what is the dream.'
Harry and Meghan did make time for one more event in New York though. On Wednesday night, the couple unveiled the #NoChildLostToSocialMedia memorial. Meghan reflected on the unveiling in an Instagram post, writing:
An important and emotional evening last night in NY as we unveiled #NoChildLostToSocialMedia with parents and families who have lost their children to online harms. My husband and I have worked with many of these families for the last several years, and through The Archewell Foundation and our program The Parents' Network, we support them in their grief and stand with them in their call for action. No matter how divided the world may be, we can all agree that we want our children to be safe from harm. That is a universal truth. If you choose to be on social media, let's be the example for our youth, sharing goodness and kindness and positivity. Let's tell our children that they are enough, and that this life is worth living. And let's ensure that no child is lost to social media. With your support, we can effect change.Visit the link below to learn more about our work and to hear these parents' painful and powerful stories.

Who left Love Island 2025? First Islander dumped following brutal twist with Shakira Khan

The first Islander was dumped from the Love Island villa tonight (Tuesday, 10th June). It may only be day two of season 12, but after a brutal twist which saw Toni Laites steal Ben Holbrough from Shakira Khan, fans learned that one Islander would be going home the next day. Shakira was given the challenge of coupling up with one of the other boys, or having to go home. Maya returned to the villa 24 hours later to see if Shakira had done enough to keep herself safe and reveal which girl would be going home, as she asked the boys to stand up if they thought they had a stronger connection with Shakira over their original partner. So, who left the Love Island villa tonight? Read on for everything you need to know on the first dumped Islander. Sophie Lee was the first Islander to be dumped from the villa for season 12. After Monday night's twist which saw Toni stealing Ben from Shakira, and Shakira was given just 24 hours to couple up with someone else or go home, Maya returned to the villa to find out where everyone's head was at. She asked the boys to stand up if they thought they had a stronger connection with Shakira and Blu, Conor and Harry each stood up, putting their girls at risk. Shakira then had to decide who she wanted to couple up with. She chose Harry, which meant that his current partner, Sophie, would be going home. After being made single, Shakira cracked on with Dejon, which didn't sit well with Meg, and also got chatting to Conor, Harry, Blu and Tommy. "You surprised me, you came in with massive energy, but I feel like you're not like that, you're chill and smart," Harry told Shakira on the terrace. "I love the Irish accent, it's sexy! I've never dated an Irish guy," Shakira replied. During her conversation with Blu, she told him: "I think it's good cause it gives everyone a kick up the bum…I think you've got a good vibe…you're very calming and I don't have to put on a bravado." Meanwhile, she admitted to Tommy: "I think it's best I try to get to know everyone." Tommy's partner Megan got a little jealous and immediately broke up the conversation, with a plan to "lips" Tommy and "claim" her man. Love Island airs Weekdays and Sundays on ITV2 at 9pm.

HBO's ‘Harry Potter' series reportedly casts Harry, Ron, Hermione

The spell has been cast, and so too have Harry, Ron and Hermione in HBO's new 'Harry Potter' series. Dominic McLaughlin will sport the lightning bolt scar as the titular chosen wizard, while Arabella Stanton — who recently starred as Matilda in the West End's production of 'Matilda: The Musical' — and Alastair Stout will round out the trio as Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively, Variety reports. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were the first actors to play the magical roles, across eight films from 2001 to 2011. 'The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen,' showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director-executive producer Mark Mylod said in a statement to the outlet. 'We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned.' Variety reports that over 30,000 hopefuls tossed their sorting hats in the ring since the fall. Also recently announced were the castings of John Lithgow as Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. The Hollywood Reporter first broke news of the show, based on J.K. Rowling's hit children's fantasy books, in early 2021. The show is expected to debut next year, with filming slated for this summer. The network has already promised 'a faithful adaptation of the beloved 'Harry Potter' books.' In April 2023, Bloomberg reported that Warner Bros. Discovery was 'close to a deal' enabling them to adapt each of the seven books for the small screen. Rowling's name in recent years has been perhaps more entwined with her anti-transgender political views than the Hogwarts-set tale. ___ © 2025 New York Daily News. Rob Owen, CEO of the Invictus Games Foundation, said: 'Birmingham is a unique and vibrant city and it's wonderful to have the dates set. "This will be the eighth Invictus Games and the return of the Games to the UK, in a city that has been a focal point of healing for so many members of the wounded, injured or sick service and veteran community. "As the Invictus Games Foundation recently celebrated its ten-year anniversary, we've been looking ahead as to what the next ten years of recovery will look like for the community, and we know Birmingham 2027 will be a beacon of hope for so many in recovery.' The Invictus Games will bring significant social and economic boost into Birmingham -attracting thousands of visitors, creating jobs, and showcasing the city's hospitality, culture, and innovation on the world stage. Local communities will be engaged through extensive outreach and participation initiatives in the run-up to, and throughout, the Games. Selly Ok MP and veterans' minister Al Carns said: 'With the dates set, Birmingham stands ready to deliver an Invictus Games worthy of those injured while bravely serving their country, whose unbreakable spirit and determination to overcome mental and physical challenges inspires us all. "In July 2027, I invite the world to Birmingham to witness these remarkable people first hand and understand what it truly means to serve, sacrifice, and prevail'.
