Australia fly half Noah Lolesio set to miss Lions series after undergoing neck surgery
Lolesio was carried off on a stretcher in a neck brace during the second half of the clash in Newcastle after his head collided with the pitch following a tackle attempt.
The 25-year-old was discharged from hospital later on Sunday to rejoin the rest of the Wallabies squad at their team hotel, though returned to undergo surgery on Tuesday following further medical assessment.
Rugby Australia have now confirmed that the playmaker will take a period of time away from the game, though it is hoped that we will make a full recovery.
'Firstly, we were relieved that Noah was up and moving well when he returned to the team hotel after his initial hospital visit in Newcastle on Sunday,' Wallabies head coach Joe Schmidt said. 'Further to that, it's an added relief for everyone, especially his family, that successful surgery now has him on the road to recovery.'
Lolesio had also been taken off on a stretcher following a collision during the Brumbies' win over the Western Force in Super Rugby Pacific back in May, though was later cleared of serious injury.

His absence from the series against the Lions, with begins in Brisbane on Saturday 19 July, leaves Schmidt facing a decision at fly half with Lolesio seemingly primed to take the No 10 shirt.
Ben Donaldson, who can also play at full-back, featured off the bench in the narrow win against Fiji, while 22-year-old Tom Lynagh - son of Wallabies legend Michael - is also part of Schmidt's squad, though is inexperienced.
The Wallabies boss is set to update his squad ahead of the Lions series later this week.

Collingwood coach's worrying confession as skipper faces possible sanction from AFL
Collingwood coach Craig McRae has admitted he's worried his side has lost their "spark" in close games after suffering a second-straight defeat by a goal or less. And Sunday's loss to Fremantle could be compounded by a possible sanction looking over captain Darcy Moore. Moore slid into the back of Josh Treacy after the Dockers player secured the match-sealing mark. Lachie Schultz heaved the ball forward in the dying stages, but it landed in Treacy's arms for a 12.7 (79) to 11.12 (78) victory. Moore came in very late and slid into the back of Treacy on the ground, with his knees collecting the Fremantle player. Treacy cried out in pain as Dockers players remonstrated with Moore, with the umpire paying a 50m penalty to Freo. Moore is likely to attract some attention from the match review officer - even if it's just a fine. Social media was rife with angry reactions to the incident, with many demanding the AFL issues some sort of sanction to the Collingwood skipper. One person wrote: "Darcy Moore should be cited for rough conduct for two knees in the back of Treacy there. Treacy had the mark on the ground and was in a vulnerable position." Craig McRae's concerning admission after Collingwood loss Meanwhile, McRae has expressed concerns over his side's form in close games. Collingwood have been the masters of tight finishes since McRae took over in 2022, but their one-point loss to Freo came nine days after the ladder leaders fell six points short against Gold Coast. The Magpies led by 22 points early in the final quarter on Sunday, but conceded the final four goals to go down by a point. "This is not something you've ever got handled because every game is opportunity," McRae said in his post-game press conference. "Managing those moments will forever be something we need to do. If the scoreboard is an indication, we haven't managed it well enough (in the last two weeks). We've lost three close games this year. Have we lost our spark? You'd hope not. But reality is, we'll keep getting better at it. I'd rather learn these lessons now." The Pies were dominant in inside-50s, winning the count 63-40. But McRae lamented his side's lack of connection up forward. "I had this real inner trust and belief that we were doing enough right in the game ... the pressure was there," McRae said. "It shows how we thought Fremantle were really, really good. When they needed to get the job done, they really came hard. They play a good brand of footy when they're up and going fast. Maybe they should play a bit more of that at times. It's a good version of them." The Dockers have now beaten five of the other seven top-eight teams, and they are yet to face second-placed Brisbane. "What we've been doing for 10 to 12 weeks now is just live in the moment," coach Justin Longmuir said. "Understand we've got processes to be able to enjoy wins, move on from wins, and then prepare for the (next) opposition. Our fans can get excited. Absolutely. People within our footy club will get excited. But as far as the coaching group and players are concerned, we've just got to enjoy this and then move on." with AAP

Seth Rollins Injures Knee At WWE Saturday Night's Main Event
A Seth Rollins knee injury led to an impromptu finish on Saturday night. Rollins competed against LA Knight at tonight's edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event in Atlanta. The match went on for a few minutes before Rollins hit a springboard senton and set up a moonsault from the middle rope on the opposite side of the ring. Knight rolled out of the way to avoid it, and Rollins landed awkwardly on his knee. He rolled to the ropes as commentary mentioned that he must have tweaked his knee. Rollins then dragged himself to the corner as the referee tried to check on him. Knight went to attack Rollins, but backed away as the referee called him off. Rollins conferenced with Paul Heyman and the referee, then the doctor came out to the ring. The doctor and Rollins spoke briefly, then Rollins pulled himself up and the match was restarted. Rollins hobbled his way over as Knight rushed him and hit the BFT. Knight immediately made the cover and raised his arms. However, he looked visibly upset about the injury and impromptu finish and could be seen yelling 'f*ck' before leaving the ring. WWE says Seth Rollins' knee is more serious than they originally thought Michael Cole addressed the injury after the match and showed a replay of the moment it happened. Cole said it seems 'much more serious than we first thought.' The Takedown on SI's Rick Ucchino also shared non-televised footage of Rollins being helped backstage: Seth Rollins is the current Men's Money In The Bank briefcase holder. He is the leader of a stable featuring Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman, and recently began a feud with LA Knight on WWE RAW. This was their first-ever singles match against each other. They previously competed against each other in the 2025 Money In The Bank match and the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match. Seth Rollins Provides Update On Knee Injury, How Long He'll Be Out
Seth Rollins continues to see the silver lining in certain situations. Rollins hurt his knee at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event last weekend. His match against LA Knight went to an improvised finish after doctors checked on him. During the Evolution post-show press conference, Triple H spoke about Seth Rollins' current condition. He said Rollins traveled to WWE Evolution to support his wife, Becky Lynch, and would be in Birmingham the next day to undergo an MRI for his injury. However, Seth Rollins says he couldn't have the MRI during a guest-hosting gig on Tuesday's episode of The Rich Eisen Show. Rollins said that despite traveling to Birmingham on Monday, he didn't undergo the MRI because his knee was too swollen to determine the cause of the issue. Seth Rollins expects to be out of action for a while Despite that, Rollins knows how the injury happened. He explained that when he attempted a moonsault, he felt his knee 'pop and buckle' on the landing. Rollins said he is still scheduled to undergo more screenings soon in Los Angeles. While he doesn't have a firm timeline, he expects he will be 'out for an extended period of time.' 'It was a little too swollen, so hopefully we're going to take another look in a week or two here in LA to try and get some sort of firm diagnosis and then we can go from there. I am not a doctor, I only know my body and what I feel. And what I feel is this is going to be me out for an extended period of time.' Despite missing time, Rollins said that the silver lining of the situation is that he gets to spend more time at home with his daughter, Roux, while he recovers from the knee injury. He also hopes he makes it back for WrestleMania, but he won't have any answers until they take another look at his knee.
