Mass transfer of Panaji booth-level officers stayed
An order for the mass transfer of booth level officers (BLOs) of the Panaji assembly constituency was on Friday kept in abeyance by the office of the deputy collector, sub-divisional officer, and sub-divisional magistrate until further orders.

'The earlier booth level officers shall be retained, and the necessary changes be made in the ERONET system,' the order stated.
'The BLOs concerned, who joined services as per the order dated April 17, 2025, shall forthwith report back to their parent offices. The head offices/departments of the offices concerned are requested to take note of the same,' the order stated.
It further directed heads of the departments not to relieve the BLOs.
The North Goa collector, who is also the district electoral officer, stated that an inquiry was ordered under the charge of additional collector-I, North Goa, into the mass transfer of BLOs from the Panaji assembly constituency.
Elvis Gomes, earlier this month, complained about irregularities in the enrolment of voters in the Panaji constituency, alleging foreign nationals, even Nepali citizens, and people not residing in Goa were being enrolled into the electoral roll.
Gomes also complained about the mass transfer of booth level officers of the Panaji constituency.
The office of the chief electoral officer has refuted allegations of irregularities with regard to voter enrolment.

NEW DELHI: Not a single claim or objection was filed within the first 24 hours of publication of the draft electoral roll in Bihar, by any of the 1.6 lakh booth level agents (BLAs) deployed by a dozen political parties across the state's 90,712 booths. As reported by TOI, EC, in an exercise aimed at 100% transparency, put out the first of its daily reports Saturday on the partywise claims and objections received from BLAs and resolved by the electoral registration officer or assistant ERO. As per rules, claims and objections are to be disposed of after the expiry of seven days. The update shared by the poll panel lists 'zero' claims and objections filed between 3pm on Aug 1 and 3pm on Aug 2, by the BLAs appointed by RJD, Congress, CPM, AAP, BSP, National People's Party, BJP, JD(U), CPI (ML) (Liberation), LJP (Ram Vilas), Rashtriya LJP and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party. The district election officers of all of Bihar's 38 districts had Friday shared the draft electoral roll for all 90,712 polling booths with the political parties. It also provided them the list of electors who were there in the roll as on June 24, 2025, but are not in the draft electoral roll published Friday. This, despite all BLAs having agreed to go through the boothwise draft lists given to them on August 1, carefully," said the commission. EC is meanwhile issuing advertisements in print, TV and social media to create awareness among the electors of Bihar regarding the option of filing claims and objections. It will also set up special camps in all block-cum-office circles and urban local body offices, from 10am to 5pm on all days till Sept 1. Any elector of Bihar can check his name in the draft electoral roll by filling his EPIC number directly on the EC voters' portal and can also file claims and objections.

Remove Ads The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday said that it will double the remuneration for Booth Level Officers (BLOs), enhance remuneration for BLO Supervisors and give honorarium to Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs)."Pure electoral rolls are the bedrock of democracy. The electoral roll machinery, consisting of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), BLO Supervisors and Booth Level Officers (BLOs), do a lot of hard work and play a pivotal role in preparation of impartial and transparent electoral rolls. The Commission has therefore, decided to double the annual remuneration for BLOs & also enhanced the remuneration of BLO Supervisors involved in the preparation and revision of electoral rolls" it said in a press apex poll body's press statement also mentioned that the last such revision was done in 2015 and the honorarium has been provided for EROs and AEROs for the first for BLOs, incentives for BLOs for Revision of electoral rolls, and BLO Supervisors have existed since 2015, with remuneration amounts of Rs 6000, Rs 1000, and Rs 12000, respectively. The revised remuneration is Rs 12000 for BLOs, Rs 2000 for an Incentive to BLO for Revision of the electoral roll and Rs 18000 for BLO Supervisors. For AERO and ERO, remuneration is 25000 and 30000, the press note further mentioned that the Commission had also approved a special incentive of Rs 6,000 for BLOs for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) starting from Bihar."This decision reflects the Election Commission's commitment to adequately compensate election personnel who work tirelessly at the field level to maintain accurate electoral rolls, assist voters, and strengthen the electoral process ," the ECI said.
