A cannabis farm was uncovered after police received reports of a group of masked men breaking into a property.South Yorkshire officers discovered 53 fully grown cannabis plants, estimated to be worth £53,000, when responding to reports of a burglary in Goldthorpe, near Barnsley, on Thursday evening.Sgt Paul Aston urged anyone with information about cannabis farms to report it to police.He said: "We know cannabis is heavily linked to serious and violent organised crime, and this has no place here in Barnsley.
"The supply of drugs has real negative and lasting impacts on our local communities, with many vulnerable people being exploited for the benefit and profit of others."When searching the property on Gosling Gate Road, police found electricity had been bypassed to supply power to the growing equipment.They also found cannabis that was ready for distribution.While no arrests were made in connection to the incident, a full investigation has been launched, they said.

A British couple have been charged with smuggling £1million of cannabis into the UK from Thailand. Last month a British former flight attendant was accused of smuggling £1.2 million of super-strength cannabis into Sri Lanka. Charlotte May Lee, 21, from Coulsdon, south London, was arrested in Colombo after police discovered 46 kg of 'Kush' - a synthetic strain of cannabis - in her suitcase. She had just arrived in the Sri Lankan capital on a flight from Bangkok in Thailand. She was arrested at Bandaranaike Airport and taken into custody on Monday, May 11. THE lone gunman who killed ten people in Austria's mass school shootout has been pictured for the first time. He had no previous convictions and was only known to the police as a victim of pick-pocketing. There is speculation he targeted the school in an act of furious revenge, though officials are yet to specify a motive. When cops searched his house, they found a non-functional "pipe bomb" and a suicide note. Cops also found what appeared to be abandoned plans for a bomb attack during the search of the shooter's apartment, according to local media. In the "farewell letter", Artur A. reportedly said goodbye to his parents and framed himself as a victim of bullying, reports Krone. He also reportedly recorded a video and sent it to his mother where he spoke of his imminent atrocity and said he was acting "of his own free will". Police investigating the mass shooting say the gunman had no prior criminal record. Artur A. stormed through two classrooms, firing with a Glock pistol and shotgun - both of which he owned legally.
