Ford Recalls Over 10 Lakh Vehicles; Here's Why?

More than half of the cars covered in the recall are F-150 pickups, which are a well-liked model in the US market. This represents a total of 527,371 vehicles. The Ford Edge, which is no longer manufactured by the company, makes up 157,506 of those one million vehicles, followed by 136,968 Transit vans and 104,394 Bronco SUVs.

The recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the underlying issue is a result of "Improper operational sequencing within the wireless communication subsystem of the SYNC software."
Ford mentioned it is aware of one report of a minor crash connected to this issue. Nevertheless, it does not know of any injuries linked to the backup camera. Vehicle owners are expected to receive recall notifications by mid-June. It is to be noted that the American manufacturer initiated an investigation into the problem earlier this year and managed to pinpoint it to certain versions of the Sync 4 software's Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM).
Ford vehicles that have over-the-air capabilities can receive the OTA update. Those without this feature will need to visit a dealer, where a service technician will carry out the software update. The solution will upgrade the APIM software to version 2.0 or newer.

Volkswagen is facing a potential class-action lawsuit over the capacitive touch control buttons in the 2021-2023 ID.4 . Two owners of the Volkswagen ID.4 electric car have filed lawsuits against the German auto giant in New Jersey, alleging that the vehicle's steering wheel controls are defective for being too sensitive. These owners have filed complaints with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). These complaints highlighted unintended acceleration issues, emergency braking system failures, and injuries resulting from crashes caused by those alleged problems. Many of the reports occurred while drivers were manoeuvring the cars to park. They have acknowledged that their hands might have brushed against the touch panels. The lawsuit alleges that the car manufacturer has violated several warranty and consumer protection laws in Massachusetts and Connecticut in the US due to this alleged defect. The automaker has already stated that it is discontinuing the technology in its vehicles due to complaints, but that doesn't address the cars currently on the road. While the touch panels have found an increased penetration in modern cars, adding premiumness, they have often been dubbed as unnecessary features and causing distraction. The Man Who Loved the Edsel So Much That He Bought Three
I like oddball cars, what some people call orphan cars. These are car brands that no longer exist, like Studebaker and Pontiac. I have a collection of unusual stuff and as I was building it, I realized I did not have any cars from Ford Motor Company. What would be more appropriate than an Edsel? Edsel was a division of Ford that only existed for three model years, and an orphan car that is different from just about everything else on the road. The story starts back in the 1950s, when the economy was booming and car sales were high. Ford executives decided to expand their product line. The thinking was, they wanted a car that was different than anything else, a distinct car you could spot a block away and instantly know what it was. They wanted this car to be state of the art. Kirkel believes his 1959 Edsel was used as a jewelry-store thieves' getaway car, before they were busted in Nebraska. The restored 1959 Edsel's interior, with furry dice added. The name comes from Henry Ford's son Edsel Ford, who was president of the company before he died in 1943. When the Edsel came out in September of 1957 as a 1958 model, the company left no stone unturned. They were planning for the long haul, and there was tremendous fanfare. Ford marked the launch by calling for a nationwide 'E-Day,' on Sept. 4, 1957. There were problems right away, however. For one, a recession hit about the same time as the car, hurting sales. The Edsel had been rushed to market, and it got a bad reputation due to reliability problems. Some people complained about the styling, that the vertical grille looked like a horse collar or even a toilet seat. After model year 1960, the car was discontinued. For years, the Edsel has been held up as an example of failure. But collectors have come around to these cars. When I decided I wanted one, I joined an Edsel club so I could meet people and find out what cars might be out there. About 10 years ago, I was going through the Edsel club newsletter when I came across an ad for a 1959 Edsel Corsair convertible. I called the guy, who was in Nebraska. He told me about the history and the pictures looked good, so I bought the car and had him ship it to me. I can still remember the day it arrived. The car has a fascinating history. According to the story I was told, it was used as a jewelry store heist getaway car, in California. The thieves got as far as Nebraska, where they were caught, and the car ended up in a police impound lot, where it sat outside for 25 years. The guy I bought the car from bought it at a police auction, and he had restored it. 'The thing about this car is, it's like a bag of pretzels,' says Kirkel. VIDEO: Violent crash sends Ford Mustang Mach E rolling, terrified driver seen praying before impact
A terrifying crash involving a green Ford Mustang Mach E was caught on camera. As a video of the incident emerged on social media, what caught the eyeballs was a man praying with folded hands inside the luxury car as it raced across the road. As per reports, the incident happened in San Francisco, United States (US) when the speeding Ford Mustang Mach-E lost control, hit a concrete alongside and went on to crash into another car. The incident was captured on camera by a stunned nearby driver. The clip shows the Ford EV crossover scraping along a concrete barrier with its hazard lights flashing – a chilling sight when seconds matter the most. In the bizarre scene, the driver's hands could be seen visibly off the wheel, seemingly clasped together in prayer. As per the video, the Mach-E barrels ahead rather than slowing down, glued to the wall in what appears to be a steering lock. Once the side barriers end and a merging lane begins, the Ford continues to steer towards the right. The car then smashed into another vehicle. The impact was devastating, sending the Mustang Mach-E rolling over in a violent crash that left onlookers frozen in shock. The person who recorded the video said there were no casualties. As the details are unclear, the video has sparked intense speculation. According to a report in Hot Cars, the car's forward motion means the 'tires were still being powered — suggesting either the driver's foot was on the accelerator, the vehicle suffered a sudden mechanical or software failure, or something was physically stuck under the pedal.' "Another theory is that the steering wheel may have locked up, leaving the driver helpless as the Mach-E careened toward disaster. But, even if it was just steering-lock, the dirver could have slammed on the brakes and bring the car to a stop," the report added.
