Dr Imran Patel distracts kids from injection fears by singing Shah Rukh Khan songs and ensures no tears are shed in the clinic.
Taking your little one to the doctor is no less than a task. From the moment they step into the clinic, the crying and panic begin. And if there is an injection waiting, the situation only gets harder. Parents try to distract or calm their child, but nothing really works.
But there are doctors who make this process feel a little easier. Some go beyond just treatment and try to connect with the child. One such doctor is doing it with something as simple as a song.
The Doctor Who Sings
Dr Imran Patel, a paediatrician, is gaining widespread love online for the way he handles such moments. A video of him singing to a child before giving an injection has touched hearts on social media. In one of the clips going viral, a toddler is seen sitting on a table while the mother holds him.
Instead of jumping straight into the procedure, Dr Imran gently begins singing Kya Yahi Pyaar Hai from the 2002 film Rocky, using full expression to keep the child engaged and distracted. As the little one watches, a small smile slowly appears on their face. Seizing the moment, the doctor hands over a toffee as a distraction and swiftly administers the injection, so smoothly that the child doesn't even notice.
Dr Imran shared the video with the caption, 'Haan yeh hi pyaar hai."
The moment touched a chord with many, and the video has now crossed nearly 70 million views. The comments under the footage show how deeply people have connected with his approach.
One user called him the 'best doctor," while another said, 'Great work, full respect."
'Kids are so happy to see you. Aapke jaisa hi doctor hona chaiye (Every doctor should be like you)," someone remarked.
Meanwhile, a person joked, 'Ye to scam ho gya bachhe k sath (This feels like a scam with the kid)."
An individual shared, 'Doctors in our time used to say: Hold the child's arms and legs and then just jab the injection in."
