The Cougars' top golfer missed last season with an injury and came back better than before. This season, Jones won several events, shot a one-under during the last round of the Regional Tournament, and qualified for State as an individual.
'Chase is a great kid and it was a pleasure to coach him,' KHS golf's Michael Clayborn said. 'He had a good year with several wins and will come back for his senior year even stronger.'
Jones is expected to return as the No. 1 golfer for KHS during his senior season.

WNBA Team Cuts Ties With Former Top-10 Pick After Scoring 0 Points
WNBA Team Cuts Ties With Former Top-10 Pick After Scoring 0 Points originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Phoenix Mercury suffered their fourth regular-season loss, falling to the Seattle Storm on Saturday. Thirty seconds into the fourth quarter, Phoenix cut the deficit to two points, but Storm quickly regained the lead, and Mercury ultimately lost the game 89-77. Advertisement Following that loss, on Sunday, head coach Nate Tibbetts and the Mercury front office released Haley Jones, the point guard Phoenix had signed just a week earlier, after her scoreless outing against Seattle. In 14 minutes of play, she contributed four rebounds and two assists. Over her four games with the Mercury since arriving from the Atlanta Dream, Jones averaged 3.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. Jones, drafted sixth overall by Atlanta in 2023 after a decorated Stanford career that included a national championship and Final Four Most Outstanding Player honors, struggled to find her footing in the WNBA. Phoenix Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts.© Rick Scuteri-Imagn Images In the 2024 season, she averaged 3.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists across 40 games before being waived by Atlanta during training camp this May and signed to a hardship contract by Phoenix on June 1 due to injuries to Alyssa Thomas and Natasha Mack. Advertisement With key veterans now cleared to return, league rules required her release as the Mercury reverted to a full 10-player roster. Jones is now an unrestricted free agent. Phoenix is second in the Western Division with 10 games played, ahead of Las Vegas, which has played seven. The leader, Minnesota, remains undefeated with a nine-game winning streak. Up next, Satou Sabally's Phoenix will face Paige Bueckers' Dallas on June 11 at home. New Mississippi State commit Adam Land 'can't wait to get to Stark Vegas'
The spring season was very good to Adam Land. The Lynn Haven (Fla.) Mosley tight end saw his list roll beyond a dozen scholarship offers, but he continued to make stops in Starkville over about all other contenders in his recruitment. Advertisement The Bulldogs returned the favor, from Jeff Lebby to Jon Cooper visiting him on multiple occasions this spring alone. It built comfort on both sides and the rising-senior elected to end his recruitment with a pair of phone calls on Tuesday. Mississippi State suddenly added a 10th pledge to the class of 2026. "I have had a different relationship with Coach Coop since the beginning and have been to Starkville four or five times since last summer," Land told Rivals. "It just feels like my place. "It's always felt laid back and comfortable." The three-sport standout was set to make an official visit to MSU next weekend, but saw no point in waiting to deliver the good news to the staff. Advertisement "Every time we have been to State they show us something different," he said. "I was waiting for my official and then just decided there was no reason to wait so I called Coach Cooper last night and made it official. "Coach Lebby called me today (Tuesday) and I guess that really made it official." "Coach Cooper was at my first ever mega camp last May and he followed the tight end group and coached me up between reps," he said. "Two days later he invited me to come to Starkville to camp and two days after that I was there working out... "About five months later, he and State were my first D1 offer and we have been tighter every week since." Also a standout basketball and baseball player, Land projects like a flex tight end who operates best in space as a matchup problem for smaller defenders.

Jonquel Jones sits out against Sky in Liberty injury concern
Liberty star Jonquel Jones didn't play Tuesday night against the Sky due to a sprained ankle. Coach Sandy Brondello confirmed before the game that Jones remains on the mend after she hurt her right ankle in Thursday's win against the Washington Mystics. 'She's not quite there,' Brondello said. 'We're always about making sure the player is ready to come back and as close to 100 percent as possible.' The 2024 WNBA Finals MVP sat out practice Sunday and Monday for treatment. How long Jones, 31, may be sidelined will depend on swelling. Advertisement The Liberty don't play again until Saturday at Indiana, and Brondello said Jones will be evaluated 'day by day.' Jones' injury comes as center Nyara Sabally makes her way back to the court. Sabally missed the past six games with a knee injury, but was cleared to play Tuesday in her first game since the Liberty throttled the Sky in Chicago on May 22. Geoff Burke-Imagn Images Advertisement Sabally and Isabelle Harrison were looking to play larger roles against a struggling Sky team anchored in the post by Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. But no one could completely fill the void left by Jones' absence. Jones has played a critical part in the Liberty's best start in franchise history. She's posted four double-doubles in six games and is averaging 13.9 points and a team-high 10.3 rebounds per game.
