
Fatal accident in Willington under investigation
WILLINGTON – A man from Windsor Locks is dead after a fatal motor vehicle accident in Willington on Tuesday morning.
The accident happened at about 5:52 a.m.
According to State Police, Jeffrey Benis, 55, of Windsor Locks, had been traveling northbound on River Road (Route 32) in Willington when his Mack 600 CHU went to the right of the road for an unknown reason and struck a utility pole off the shoulder.
The vehicle then continued back across the roadway and left a portion of the road striking a guardrail off the southbound shoulder.
Benis was transported by Stafford Ambulance to Rockville General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Pursuit of SUV on Mass. highway leaves 5 people hurt, charges to be filed, police say
Charges will be filed in connection with an SUV that led Massachusetts State Police in a pursuit on Route 24, reaching speeds of 130 mph and with five people hurt, State Police said. At around 4 a.m. on Monday, a State Police trooper saw a white BMW X5 SUV driving on Route 24 southbound at over 100 mph, State Police said in a statement. The trooper tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the SUV continued driving south, with its speed increasing, the statement read. Missing person: Police need your help
SYRACUSE. N.Y. (WSYR-TV)– State Police are attempting to locate Robert J. Merrill, age 41, who may be in crisis. Merrill is approximately 5'6'. He was last seen wearing jeans with no shirt and no shoes. Merrill was also last seen in the area of Rose Hill Road in the town of Spafford.
