Inside the statue though will be some of Lemmy's ashes, so it will no doubt become a shrine for Motorhead's legion of fans around the world.
And indeed it was on Friday, as the statue to the hard-living Lemmy — real name Ian Kilmister — was unveiled in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.
Black leather and denim jackets emblazoned with Lemmy's image were the norm for the day on a bright and sunny day in the northern English town. No wonder, many fans opted for a thirst-quencher at the local pub. There were even some Lemmy lookalikes.
Lemmy was the only continuous member of Motorhead, which he co-founded in 1975 after he was fired from another legendary rock band, Hawkwind, following a drug possession arrest at the Canadian border.
So he decided to go his own way and Motorhead helped pioneer heavy metal music in Britain — and around the world — with a string of high-octane albums, perhaps most memorably with 1980's 'Ace Of Spades.'
The statue was crafted by acclaimed local sculptor and lifelong Motorhead fan Andy Edwards — who is best-known for his statue of the Beatles on Liverpool's Pier Head. It captures Lemmy, who died from cancer in December 2015 at the age of 70, in his iconic pose with his bass guitar.
In December, following his will's instructions, another batch of Lemmy's ashes were installed in an urn shaped like his trademark cavalry hat at the Stringfellows gentlemen's club in London where he was 'a regular.'
That and Friday's ceremony are part of the 'Lemmy Forever!' movement, which sees the rocker enshrined in many of his favorite spots around the world.
Lemmy's legendary status was evident at his funeral, which saw rock heavyweights including The Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash and Metallica members Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo pay tribute.

Tulisa reveals she has ended her three years of celibacy and hints at finally finding love - after trauma of leaked sex tape 'impacted her relationships'
Tulisa Contostavlos has revealed that she has ended her three years of celibacy and hinted at finally finding love, months after coming out as demisexual. During her I'm A Celeb appearance last year the singer, 37, revealed her orientation - which is based on based on emotional connection rather than physical attraction - but admitted the thought of being with someone still made her feel 'physically sick'. At the peak of her fame, Tulisa endured a very high-profile 2012 court case after her ex boyfriend Justin Edwards released a sex tape of her, leaving her traumatised and 'impacting her relationships to this day '. She previously told how she felt 'judged, disgusting and ashamed' because of the ordeal and due to revenge porn was not being illegal at the time, she only managed to get a court apology from him. But while appearing Jaime Laing's Great Company podcast on Thursday, Tulisa revealed she was no longer celibate, but reiterated that for her finding someone attractive was 'few and far between'. She said: 'People [think I was celibate because] there is some kind of vow I made to god, or to myself, I just am very picky,' The singer, 37, revealed her orientation - which is based on based on emotional connection rather than physical attraction - but the thought of being with someone made her feel 'sick' 'Finding someone I like is very few and far between and then if I do someone that I like, I can feel physical attraction to you I can be very flirtatious but I don't think about having sex with them until I start building quite a deep emotional emotional and it take a long time to get to that place'. When host Jamie asked if she saw her body as sacred, Tulisa replied: 'Yeah, I think all woman are sacred and they should be worshipped a lot more so than they are being treated in today's society'. 'You're also taking on other people's energy when you're sleeping around, you don't realise the things - aside from STDs- the other things you're putting into your body, the energy has got to be right when you're having that exchange and it should be about the connection'. Last year Tulisa admitted she's had 'periods of being asexual', which is someone who doesn't experience sexual attraction to people of any gender, during her appearance on Paul C Brunson's We Need To Talk podcast. She said: 'I've had periods of being asexual in my life, periods. I've been told that I'm sapiosexual as well, very much attracted to intelligence.' She added: 'I can look at someone and think they have a cute face but I don't get any tingles. I don't think about sex. 'I can look at someone and think "Wow you're stunning", but for me attraction is I have to want to kiss someone or be physical with someone.' Speaking about her celibacy, she joked: 'Three years and four months, but who's counting. 'I haven't got to the point where I'm like this is it. It's hard to word things without giving away too much about your own current love life.' Tulisa went onto insist that she is single as she 'doesn't want to be in a relationship for the sake of being in a relationship'. Asked if she believes in love, she replied: 'I think love is all about perception and I think one person's perception of love wouldn't be the same as my perception. 'Real love for me is time and loyalty, choosing someone every day. That for me is love. I have it in a lot of friendships.' Tulisa is leaving no stone unturned in her upcoming autobiography, detailing her battle with addiction, two suicide attempts and her sex tape scandal. She vowed to be 'brutally honest' in the tome, titled Judgement: Love, Trials and Tribulations, and has stayed true to her word. According to The Mirror, the N-Dubz star charts her 'year from hell' amid her drug sting trial, which led to two suicide attempts. She penned of the day she found out she was going to be charged on suspicion of being involved with the supply of Class A drugs: 'Why is this happening to me? 'What's the point in being alive just to be miserable? How am I ever going to find happiness after this? Even if I'm found innocent, I'll be empty inside by the time I get to the end of it, and my life will be ruined.' Thankfully, she was found by former best friend Gareth Varey who called an ambulance after finding her in her bathroom surrounded by empty packets of sleeping pills. While Tulisa was revived, she made a second attempt on her life months later amid her trial, which resulted in her being hospitalised for three days. Throughout any challenging times, Tulisa would try and comfort herself by locking herself in the bathroom. She explained: 'When I was a child, the bathroom was the only room in my house with a lock. I had always locked myself in there in times of distress, whether it was because my parents were going at it like two bulls in a china shop again, or my mentally ill mother was going off the rails. It had always been my place of safety. 'And twenty years later, here I was: back lying on the bathroom floor. Deep-rooted issues, I suppose. When the sex tape had come out, I had slept on the bathroom floor for five days.' Elsewhere in the book, Tulisa also revealed that while she suffered from depression she became addicted to sleeping tablets and benzodiazepines, a habit she broke free from last year after she 'found her peace and faith'. Tulisa's memoir documents her rise to prominence and subsequent fall from grace after being targeted by the disgraced 'Fake Sheikh', Mazher Mahmood. The singer later admitted her life 'fell apart' following an elaborate sting that resulted in her being arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs, an accusation she vehemently denied. As the drama played out in court, Tulisa opted to keep a journal in which she detailed the toll her trial had taken on her personal life, and the devastating impact it had on her career. Mock The Week star reveals he is cancer free and returning to the stage 'very soon' as he opens up about 'dark moments' during treatment
Milton Jones has revealed he is officially cancer free and will be returning to the stage 'very soon'. The Mock The Week comedian, 61, revealed in April that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and was at the time preparing to undergo surgery. In an update on his condition, Milton shared a statement on his Instagram on Friday announcing that he was now cancer-free. Milton thanked the doctors and nurses who had helped him get better, as well as his loved-ones for supporting him, as well as revealing he would be returning to the stage soon for his rescheduled tour dates. Getting candid in the post, Milton went on to open up about the 'dark moments' during his treatment. He admitted that there were times during treatment where he 'wondered if anyone would ever see me again'. His statement read: 'A few months ago I had to stop my tour because I needed treatment for prostate cancer. I'm glad to say I've had that treatment and am now cancer free. 'So many thanks to all the doctors and nurses who helped me get better - I couldn't do their job, I tried, but apparently you have to be qualified. 'A big thank you to my family, friends, all those who helped reschedule things and the many others who have been so nice to me. Along with all those who have kept hold of their tickets for the shows that have been rescheduled and apologies to those whose shows we were unable to move.' He added: 'I have to admit there were a few dark moments when I wondered if anyone would ever see me again, but then I released I was leaning against the light switch. 'Thankfully I'm now in a completely different place and if you look at my website you'll see that very soon I'll be in lots of other different places on your tour, I hope to see you there.' Announcing his shock diagnosis earlier this year, Milton revealed he would be cancelling a string of tour days. While Milton declared his cancer was 'treatable', he said he needed to focus on his recovery after surgery as he vowed to return to the stage as soon as possible. He said in a statement at the time: 'I'm so sorry about this, but I need to announce the cancellation of several dates from my ongoing Ha!Milton live tour. 'The affected shows are in Leeds, Coventry, Basingstoke, Sterts, Launceston, Durham, Hexham, Ilkley, Wakefield, Lichfield, Tunbridge Wells, Portsmouth, and Lyme Regis which were all due to take place this summer. 'This difficult decision comes following a recent diagnosis of treatable prostate cancer. I'll be undergoing surgery soon and will need time afterwards to fully recover. 'In addition, the Summer dates in Colchester, Bridlington, Stroud, and London will be rescheduled to the Autumn. 'All dates currently scheduled for the Autumn leg of the tour remain unaffected. Ticket holders for the cancelled shows will be contacted directly by the venue box office. 'Thanks for your support and respecting my privacy during this time. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, the seven-time Olympic medalist was told he had only two to four years to live after making the prognosis public last October. Milton's career skyrocketed after he won the coveted Perrier Award at the Festival in 1996. Nowadays, he is renowned for his one-liners on BBC Two's Mock The Week. WHAT IS PROSTATE CANCER? How many people does it kill? More than 11,800 men a year - or one every 45 minutes - are killed by the disease in Britain, compared with about 11,400 women dying of breast cancer. It means prostate cancer is behind only lung and bowel in terms of how many people it kills in Britain. In the US, the disease kills 26,000 men each year. Despite this, it receives less than half the research funding of breast cancer and treatments for the disease are trailing at least a decade behind. How many men are diagnosed annually? Every year, upwards of 52,300 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in the UK - more than 140 every day. How quickly does it develop? Prostate cancer usually develops slowly, so there may be no signs someone has it for many years, according to the NHS. If the cancer is at an early stage and not causing symptoms, a policy of 'watchful waiting' or 'active surveillance' may be adopted. Some patients can be cured if the disease is treated in the early stages. But if it is diagnosed at a later stage, when it has spread, then it becomes terminal and treatment revolves around relieving symptoms. Thousands of men are put off seeking a diagnosis because of the known side effects from treatment, including erectile dysfunction. Tests and treatment Tests for prostate cancer are haphazard, with accurate tools only just beginning to emerge. There is no national prostate screening programme as for years the tests have been too inaccurate. Doctors struggle to distinguish between aggressive and less serious tumours, making it hard to decide on treatment. Men over 50 are eligible for a 'PSA' blood test which gives doctors a rough idea of whether a patient is at risk. But it is unreliable. Patients who get a positive result are usually given a biopsy which is also not fool-proof. Scientists are unsure as to what causes prostate cancer, but age, obesity and a lack of exercise are known risks.
