Art that defies age in Fairland

On July 19, Lillian Gray Fine Art School hosted their Adult Art Exhibition. The art studio served as the best venue for their adult students to boldly display the pieces of art they had worked on in the year thus far. For many of these students, art was a forgotten form of expression, one they had tucked away, having let time, and life with all its inevitable changes, come in the way of. Read more: Soaring high in his journey through art Co-owner and art teacher Adele Jansen van Rensburg shared with the paper why it's never too late to go back to art or start your journey. 'It's a space for anyone who wants to step back into their creativity, or for those who have never picked up a paint brush.' Jansen van Rensburg added that her favourite students were the ones who had never tried art. The artist said that one is never too old to pick up the easel and paint brush. 'I have seen many retired people who neglected their creativity for years, go back to pick up art again.' Jansen van Rensburg says one suppressing their art and creativity is akin to a dam with no fresh water. As she sees it, creativity needs to flow like a river. 'I love seeing the process of someone creating art. I also love when someone bravely comes to school, eager to start their art journey again, even with all their insecurities.' Jansen van Rensburg said witnessing their bravery, and their struggles, it's inspiring that they keep arriving for classes, most importantly for the art. Orlando Pirates news: Yeye, Sebelebele, Mofokeng, Saudi, R100m

Orlando Pirates have been the busiest of the teams in the PSL during this transfer period. So far, the Buccaneers have signed 10 players, as they seek to once again challenge Mamelodi Sundowns for the Betway Premiership. Earlier in the week, Mohau Nkota left Orlando Pirates after one season to join Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq. The 20-year-old has had a fantastic season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 39 matches across all competitions. On Friday, Unplayable reported that Nkota's former teammate Relebofile Mofokeng could also join him in Saudi Arabia this transfer period. Sechaba Mofokeng, the father of Relebohile, said his biggest wish was to see his son playing in Europe this coming season. He discouraged a move to Saudi, saying it was too soon for the boy to play in the Middle East. This week, Soccer Laduma reported that Dutch side PSV were looking to sign Mofokeng for over R100 million but Pirates refuted the claims. The Buccaneers have already signed Kamogelo Sebelebele, Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi as possible replacements. Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has backed Sebelebele to succeed at Pirates. 'I was fortunate enough to have worked with Kamogelo in COSAFA and CHAN. He's a good player with the right attitude,' Letsholonyane said on Omni Audio Africa . 'I'm not surprised to see Orlando Pirates signing him because he deserves that. So he adds on the quality of Oswin Appollis and Rele [Mofokeng]. 'He gives you the same possibilities, but he can even play as a striker. If you are a coach who wants to play with a false 9, then Kamogelo gives you that. 'And another thing is that he wants to win every game he plays, tired or not tired, he'll leave everything on the field until the last whistle, so that's one positive signing for Pirates, and I'm happy for Kamogelo, he deserves this move,' Yeye said. 'I was called a traiter for joining Pirates' – Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Siyabonga Nomvethe has revealed that he was called a traitor for joining Orlando Pirates in 2006. Having signed from African Wanderers in 1998, 'Bhele' made a name for himself at Amakhosi, scoring 42 times in 29 matches for the Soweto giants. In 2001, he was signed by Italian outfit Udinese but spent most of his time loaned out to several Italian clubs. In 2006, Novethe returned to South Africa but did not join Kaizer Chiefs, instead he joined Orlando Pirates in what was a shock move. He scored four times in 14 matches for the Buccaneers before he went back to Europe. 'Chiefs wanted to sign me on a long-term contract,' Nomvethe told iDiski Times . 'But I was only home for six months and I wanted to go back to Europe. Pirates showed interest, and they agreed on a six-month term, and I joined them. 'I did not bother myself about people who felt I was a traitor by joining Pirates instead of Chiefs because I knew what was happening.' The former Bafana Bafana striker did return to the PSL in 2009 but did not join Chiefs or Pirates. He signed with Moroka Swallows where he spent seven years with them before moving to AmaZulu in 2016. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
