Terrelle Pryor lawsuit against Ohio State and the NCAA dismissed by judge Friday

USA Today19-07-2025
Not all lawsuits are created equal, not even in the age of Name, Image and Likeness apparently.
Former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor saw his lawsuit against Ohio State, the Big Ten, and NCAA dismissed by Ohio Southern District Chief Judge Sarah D. Morrison on Friday. The news was reported by The Athletic's Ralph D. Russo (subscription may be required) through documents he obtained, pointing to a statute of limitations that had passed.
'Mr. Pryor failed to assert his claims for injunctive relief within the four-year statutory period, wrote Morrison in her ruling. "And he makes no argument to rebut the presumption that allowing his claims to proceed would be unreasonable and prejudicial to Defendants."
Pryor brought forth the lawsuit in October, following similar other lawsuits that aimed to take advantage of new NIL advantages current athletes enjoy that some of the past did not.
Pryor came to Ohio State as a 5-star prospect who was one of the most coveted in the country. His recruitment and postponement of his commitment announcement were greatly publicized until he eventually committed to the Buckeyes in March of 2008. He chose OSU over Oregon, Penn State, and Michigan.
Pryor starred on the field for Ohio State, but his time in Columbus ended in controversy. He was a part of the much-publicized "tattoo-gate," and eventually entered the 2011 NFL supplemental draft rather than face a suspension in 2011, thus ending his OSU career.

Dolphins sign former Texas A&M star to bolster OL after Austin Jackson injury

NFL roster moves continue as former Texas A&M offensive lineman Germain Ifedi signs with the Miami Dolphins for his ninth season and fifth team. Ifedi, a first-round pick by the Seahawks in 2016, has since played for the Bears, Falcons, Lions, and Browns. Known for his versatility along the offensive line, he's logged over 80 career starts and provides dependable depth in both guard and tackle positions. His durability and veteran experience make him a valuable midseason addition, especially for teams seeking protection stability and injury insurance. Miami, looking to reinforce its front around quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, gains an adaptable lineman capable of contributing immediately. Ifedi's return to the AFC signals confidence in his continued impact and conditioning. For the Texas native and former Aggie, it's another opportunity to extend a steady and well-traveled NFL career that shows no signs of slowing down. Jimmy Horn Jr. turning heads at Panthers training camp with his speed and toughness

Colorado football currently has four receivers on NFL training camp rosters who were on the team last season. Other than the Jaguars' Travis Hunter, the standout has been Carolina Panthers rookie Jimmy Horn Jr. Horn was a sixth-round pick by the Panthers in the 2025 NFL draft, but after a fantastic offseason, he is looking like a steal of the draft. With his speed and toughness, Horn is everything a team would want out of a sixth-round receiver. In a recent mock scrimmage at Bank of America Stadium, Horn impressed once again, scoring the first touchdown for the second team offense. Horn was in motion before the snap and then snuck underneath, and quarterback Andy Dalton found him for an easy walk into the endzone. While it was not a typical go-ball that the speedy Horn should see plenty of this season, it was a play that Colorado ran a ton with Horn. Get him the ball in space and let his open-field ability do the rest. Panthers head coach Dave Canales has loved what he has seen from the rookie receiver so far. "I think it's the energy he plays with," said Canales to "He doesn't quit on routes, he continues after the normal part of the protection he can count on, he continues to find space and play fast, and, it's a credit to his fitness, but it's also a credit to just the energy that he puts out there, that you want to throw to him." While sixth-round picks are far from guaranteed to make the final 53-man roster, Horn's performances through the offseason have made it almost a forgone conclusion that he makes Carolina's final group. The Panthers and Shedeur Sanders, Cleveland Browns, will have joint practices this week before each team's first preseason game on Friday, Aug. 8. Follow Charlie Strella on X, Threads and Instagram. Florida Trending for Prospect Tabbed Next Freshman Phenom

Florida Trending for Prospect Tabbed Next Freshman Phenom originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Florida Gators are in the hunt for a very intriguing college football prospect from the 2028 class. Social media blew up last weekend after a crazy one-handed catch was made at the NFL Flag Championships by receiver Brysen Wright. The original video of Wright's snag has over 7 million views and caught the eye of NFL talent like Patrick Mahomes, Caleb Williams, and others. On3's Adam Gorney caught up with Wright to discuss recruiting and which schools are currently in the lead. Wright revealed he has heard from the Gators, Ohio State Buckeyes and Miami Hurricanes. 'The only (main) schools I'm hearing from now really are Ohio State, Florida and Miami,' Gorney compared Wright to sophomore Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith. Smith burst onto the scene last season, leading the Buckeyes with 1,315 receiving yards as a true freshman. Smith was a former five-star prospect and the top receiver in the 2024 class. Wright is rated as a four-star on Rivals, and On3's Hayes Fawcett believes the recruit will be one of the prospects in the class. Wright is familiar with Florida, as the Gators had him in town for an unofficial visit in November of last year. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has tabbed Florida as the favorite and gives it a 21.9% chance to land him. Ohio State has a 13.7% chance, while Miami has a 1.2% chance. While Wright's decision may not be imminent, Florida is trending upward as a program. The Gators just secured the first winning season of head coach Billy Napier's tenure, and people are paying close attention to Florida. Greg McElroy even said that Florida could be a problem with a consistent running game. If Wright pans out as people expect, it would be a massive addition to story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 24, 2025, where it first appeared.
