ChatGPT 5 might be dropping next week, here's everything we've heard so far

Word is, OpenAI might launch GPT-5 as early as next week. If the chatter holds up, this could be their most powerful model yet combining the best of o3 and 4o into one unified system. Think sharper reasoning, true multimodal support, and the ability to handle complex tasks on its own. Big leap incoming.
Sam Altman has more or less confirmed it GPT-5 is coming 'soon.' He said as much on X, and even gave a live demo of the model on This Past Weekend with Theo Von. At one point, he fed it a question he couldn't crack himself. 'This is GPT-5,' he said, as it nailed the answer. His takeaway? 'I felt useless relative to the AI.' Big statement.

Whispers about GPT-5 being tested 'in the wild' have only added fuel to the fire. Word is, OpenAI might make it official in early August and it won't be just one model. Expect a full rollout, with mini and nano versions tailored for different workloads. GPT-5 should land on both ChatGPT and the API, while the leaner nano variant looks set to stay API-only.
So, what can you expect from GPT-5?
All inclusive
OpenAI's aiming to do under the hood finally merge the GPT and o-series models into one unified system. Until now, users had to juggle between models: o3 for reasoning, GPT-4 for math or code. GPT-5 might change that completely. No more picking just one model that does it all.
Altman's hinted at this too, calling it 'a system that integrates a lot of our technology.' The idea is to combine o3's logic strength with GPT-4's edge in structured tasks like coding and problem-solving. And from what early testers are saying, it's already hitting near PhD-level performance in heavy reasoning tasks.
Multi-Model Upgrade
GPT-4o gave us live voice, text, and image support but GPT-5 might take it further. Video processing is apparently on the table, and switching between different input modes is expected to be even more seamless. Basically, the AI feels less like a tool, more like a co-pilot.
Memory Improvement
Another major jump: context window. While GPT-4o could manage 128K tokens, GPT-5 might push past 256K. That means deeper memory, longer threads, and more coherent multi-session conversations. If true, we're looking at a version that remembers more and feels less 'reset' every time you talk to it.
Paging for autonomous AI
There's also buzz around GPT-5 unlocking the next phase of AI autonomy. Think: agents that can handle real-world digital tasks end-to-end, without much human input. From using APIs to navigating platforms or tools on your behalf it's being pitched as a smarter, more capable virtual assistant.

Cryptocurrency Live News & Updates : Ethereum's Position Strengthened by Regulatory Shifts

06 Aug 2025 | 11:55:12 PM IST Figment's CEO Lorien Gabel stated that recent U.S. regulatory changes, including the market structure bill, clarify Ethereum's role and enhance its use cases, alongside a surge in stablecoin trading and Ethereum transactions. In the latest cryptocurrency news, Figment's CEO Lorien Gabel emphasized Ethereum's strengthened position amid evolving U.S. regulations, particularly with the market structure bill that clarifies its use cases. Meanwhile, OpenAI has allowed share sales at a staggering $500 billion valuation, showcasing the growing intersection of technology and finance. On the trading front, Pepe's price is consolidating at a crucial support level, indicating potential for a bullish reversal if it can maintain momentum. Additionally, BNB has surpassed 770 USDT, reflecting a 2.67% increase in just 24 hours. However, the crypto landscape is not without its challenges, as users face risks of having their accounts frozen due to compliance issues, even when they have done nothing wrong. WhatsApp Launches New Safety Tool, 6.8 Million Scam Centre Accounts Banned

New Delhi: WhatsApp has launched a new 'safety overview', which will alert a user when someone not in their contact list adds them to a new WhatsApp group that they may not recognise, as Meta's messaging platform intensified its crackdown on scams and fraud. The safety overview will contain key information about the said group and tips to stay safe, it said. "From there, you can exit the group without ever having to look at the chat. And if you think you might recognise the group after seeing the safety overview, you can choose to see the chat for more context," according to WhatsApp. And notifications from the group will be silenced until the user marks that they do wish to stay. Meta's messaging platform further said it is exploring ways to caution users when they start a chat with someone not in their contacts by showing more context about the person they are messaging. This, it hopes, will enable informed decisions. WhatsApp said it also takes down attempts by criminal scam centres, often fuelled by forced labour and operated by organised crime, primarily in South East Asia. In the first six months this year, as part of its efforts to protect people from scams, WhatsApp and Meta's security teams detected and banned over 6.8 million accounts linked to scam centres. "Based on our investigative insights into the latest enforcement efforts, we proactively detected and took down accounts before scam centres were able to operationalise them," it said. Citing an instance of such a crackdown, it said recently, WhatsApp, Meta, and OpenAI disrupted scamsters' efforts that had links to a criminal scam centre in Cambodia. These attempts ranged from offering payments for fake likes to enlisting others into a rent-a-scooter pyramid scheme or luring people to invest in cryptocurrency. "As OpenAI reported, the scammers used ChatGPT to generate the initial text message containing a link to a WhatsApp chat, and then quickly directed the target to Telegram, where they were assigned a task of liking videos on TikTok. The scammers attempted to build trust in their scheme by sharing how much the target has already 'earned' in theory, before asking them to deposit money into a crypto account as the next task," it said.

OpenAI eyes $500 bn valuation in potential employee share sale

ChatGPT maker OpenAI is in early-stage discussions about a stock sale that would allow employees to cash out and could value the company at about $500 billion, a source familiar with the matter said. That would represent an eye-popping bump-up from its current valuation of $300 billion, with the sale underscoring both OpenAI's rapid gains in users and revenue as well as the intense competition among artificial intelligence firms to secure talented workers. The transaction, which would come before a potential IPO, would allow current and former employees to sell several billion dollars worth of shares, said the source, who requested anonymity because the talks are private. Bolstered by its flagship product ChatGPT, OpenAI doubled its revenue in the first seven months of the year, reaching an annualised run rate of $12 billion, and is on track to reach $20 billion by year-end, the source added. Microsoft-backed OpenAI has about 700 million weekly active users for its ChatGPT products, a surge from about 400 million in February. The share sale talks come on the heels of OpenAI's primary funding round announced earlier this year, which aims to raise $40 billion, led by Japan's SoftBank Group. SoftBank has until the end of the year to fund its $22.5 billion portion of the round, but the remainder has been subscribed at a valuation of $300 billion, the source said. Microsoft-backed OpenAI has about 700 million weekly active users for its ChatGPT products, a surge from about 400 million in February.
