The New York Yankees have been ice cold since the All-Star break and there's no shortage of blame to go around.
The defense has been bad at times, the baserunning has been lazy and some players haven't played to their potential just yet.
But the team has also been without the best hitter in baseball, Aaron Judge, for 10 games. Losing Judge changes everything for the Yankees. He's a game changer in the middle of the lineup that makes everybody's lives easier.
As Judge has sat on the injured list with a forearm/elbow injury, the Yankees have struggled, but the slugger could be eyeing his triumphant return to the team, just in time to finish the postseason push.

MIAMI, FLORIDA - AUGUST 02: New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone and Aaron Judge #99 look on during batting practice prior to a game against the Miami Marlins at loanDepot park on August 02, 2025 in Miami, Florida. MoreAccording to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Judge will be activated from the IL on Tuesday, likely to return as a designated hitter until the slugger's elbow is completely healed.
Judge suffered a flexor strain, an injury that doesn't typically impact a hitter and their swing. It's usually an injury that isn't felt unless throwing the ball, so Judge should have the green light to return as the DH with no restrictions there.
This, obviously, causes an issue with the Yankees lineup, as their everyday DH, Giancarlo Stanton, hasn't played the field in well over a year. Stanton's lower body injuries have heavily impacted his mobility over the years.
Stanton is also getting hot right now, so it would be tough to move him out of the lineup, but Judge can't be benched for anybody.
It'll be very interesting to see the Yankees' first lineup with Judge returning on Tuesday, likely as the DH.

Bengals' Shemar Stewart reveals key thing Trey Hendrickson taught him

For Cincinnati Bengals first-round rookie Shemar Stewart, the remainder of the summer is about refining his craft while he adapts to the program. With the contract impasse a thing of the past and Trey Hendrickson attending practice and helping out his teammates, Stewart has made sure to absorb as much information as possible. Right out of the gates after Hendrickson reported to the team, Stewart got a key nugget from the All-Pro, according to Geoff Hobson of "You want to be all extended when you make some kind of contact with O-linemen. If it's not, and he reaches you, your rush is basically over. Make sure your arms are fully extended before making contact with the offensive line." … RELATED: Shemar Stewart contract details cast Bengals holdout in strange light Billed as a project prospect, the biggest criticism of Stewart out of college was his lack of production as a pass-rusher and apparent lack of moves to help him get to opposing passers. Only live action will show fans if those concerns were misguided, but Bengals coaches have repeatedly beat the drum about his rare combination of size and athleticism that will help him play three downs all over the line. One guarantee? Stewart couldn't do much better than Hendrickson as a mentor, if at all. RELATED: Trey Hendrickson tells all on contract standoff with Bengals

Astros make bad injury assignment to All-Star third baseman

Astros make bad injury assignment to All-Star third baseman originally appeared on The Sporting News The Houston Astros have been riddled with injuries throughout the 2025 season, and they are now expected to be without one of their key contributors for an extended period of time. Third baseman Isaac Paredes, who was placed on the team's injured list on July 20, was transferred to the 60-day injured list on Wednesday to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for starting pitcher Spencer Arrighetti, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome. The move comes just two days after general manager Dana Brown told reporters that Paredes opted to rehabilitate his hamstring muscle, as opposed to undergoing surgery. Rehabbing the injury could open the door to a potential return this season, while surgery would have ended Paredes' 2025 campaign, Brown said, via Brian McTaggart. Paredes strained his right hamstring while running to first base in a game against the Seattle Mariners on July 19. He was in the midst of an All-Star season with the Astros, his first since joining the team in an offseason trade with the Chicago Cubs, prior to suffering the injury. In 94 games this year, Paredes has launched 19 homers and driven in 50 runs while hitting .259, slugging .470 and generating a .829 OPS. Carlos Correa will serve as the Astros' starting third baseman for the time being — and, potentially, for the rest of the campaign. Correa, who the Astros acquired in a deadline-day trade with the Minnesota Twins, has gone 6-21 at the plate with one home run, two RBIs and four runs scored in five appearances since rejoining the team that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2012.
