Oregon basketball offers No. 1 prospect in 2027 class
Dana Altman is always on the hunt for the next great player to come through Eugene, and he has his eyes set on small forward Baba Oladotun out of Maryland.
Oladotun is the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2027, so the Ducks have plenty of time to sell him on what the Ducks have to offer.
The 6-foot-9, 175-pounder from Silver Spring, MD, and James Hubert Blake High School has plenty to offer the Ducks or any other school he decides to attend. As the No. 1 recruit in the country, his choices will be plentiful.
He's the top-ranked junior, and with his size, for now, Oladotun is a lanky forward who has nice range for his height. It will be interesting to see how his build and game change in the next two seasons as he fills out.
The Ducks will surely be looking for someone to fill the spot Kwame Evans will leave behind, and Oladotun looks like he could be the perfect fit. But Oregon will have a lot of competition for his services. So far, he has over 30 offers to choose from, and no doubt that number will rise in the next year.

Former Oregon center N'Faly Dante signs 2-year deal with Atlanta Hawks
Former Oregon Ducks men's basketball center N'Faly Dante has signed a two-year, $4.5 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, per USA Today's Michael Scotto. Dante spent his rookie season on a two-way deal with the Houston Rockets, primarily competing for the Rio Grand Valley Vipers in the G League. He averaged 15.1 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.0 steals per game on 74.3% shooting from the field with the Vipers. He also appeared in four games for the Rockets, averaging 6.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game in limited minutes. Prior to beginning his pro career, Dante was a five-star recruit out of Wichita, KS when he committed to Oregon. He went on to spend five seasons with the Ducks, becoming a consistent contributor in his junior season. Dante broke out during his senior campaign, scoring 17.0 points, grabbing 9.2 rebounds and blocking 1.9 shots per game. He finished his five-year Oregon career as a two-time first-team All-Pac-12 member and a Pac-12 All-Defensive Team selection in 2024. He was also named the Pac-12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2024, helping lead the Ducks to the final Pac-12 tournament title. Now on a standard contract with the Hawks, Dante will provide depth behind presumed starting center Kristaps Porzingis and reserve big man Onyeka Okongwu. Rookie Asa Newell and third-year man Mouhamed Gueye will also be competing for minutes down low. For Dante, it's a step in the right direction as he attempts to carve out a long NBA career after a successful college stint with the Ducks. He committed to Oregon following a big sophomore season at Brentwood Academy. Last season, he snatched 56 passes for 1,023 yards and eight touchdowns. His performance earned him offers from nearly 40 schools, including Georgia, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Ohio State. ESPN projects significant regression for Oregon Ducks in 2025
In 2024, the Oregon Ducks had one of the best football seasons in program history, going 13-0 in the regular season with a win in the Big 10 Championship as first-year members of the league. While the season ended with a frustrating loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff's Rose Bowl quarterfinals, that shouldn't detract from what was a successful season. Going into 2025, however, there are numerous changes in Eugene. The Ducks return just four total starters from that 2024 team and will rely on a long list of young and unproven players to lead the way. While there are some questions about who will take over as the biggest difference-makers on Oregon's roster, the team still has high expectations with the season just a couple of weeks away, ranked as the No. 7 team in the nation in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll. However, ESPN thinks that there could be some regression this season due to the influx of new talent and the lack of returning production. According to ESPN's Bill Connelly, Oregon's SP+ rating has decreased by 3.7 points this year. "The Ducks are 115th in returning production, 125th on offense. We'll find out just how healthy Dan Lanning's program is this season with that amount of turnover," Connelly writes. While there might be a lot of new faces on the field for the Ducks this season, the level of recruiting that Lanning has done in Eugene over the past few seasons has many fans excited for what's to come for the Oregon program. The Ducks have had three-straight recruiting classes ranked inside the top 10 nationally, and the roster is loaded with former 5-star and 4-star players. Young guys like Ify Obidegwu, Dakorien Moore, Aydin Breland, Kingston Lopa, and Jeremiah McClellan may not have a lot of experience on the field. Still, they are expected to be among the best players on the roster this year, poised for major breakouts. On top of that, the Ducks hit the transfer portal hard this offseason, bringing in top-ranked guys like Dillon Thieneman, Makhi Hughes, Isaiah World, and Bear Alexander, all of whom are projected to be among the top players in the conference. The numbers may spell "regression candidate" when examining the Ducks' roster in 2025, but the coaching and roster makeup have Oregon looking as strong as ever heading into the new season.
