ATERMES To Showcase Surveillance Innovations At IQDEX 2025

ATERMES, a French leader in advanced surveillance and security solutions, announces its return to IQDEX 2025 which will be held in Baghdad International Exhibition in Iraq from 19 to 22 April 2025, showcasing its latest surveillance breakthroughs alongside trusted partner IST (Information Systems). This marks the second consecutive IQDEX where the two companies have united, unveiled their shared mission to fortify Iraq's defense capabilities and drive homegrown technological progress.
The focal point of ATERMES' exhibit is the SURICATE system—an AI-powered, multispectral surveillance solution proven across diverse operational environments. New at IQDEX 2025 is SURICATE's full integration completed with radar technology, uniting long-range radar detection with high-resolution multispectral optics. This combined capability delivers pinpoint precision for identifying drones, vehicles, and human targets, enables rapid threat assessment for immediate action, and reduces operator workload through AI-driven automation—ultimately freeing personnel to focus on strategic decision-making.
'ATERMES is dedicated to building meaningful partnerships, sharing knowledge, and delivering state-of-the-art solutions solely tailored to the challenges faced by Iraqi defense and homeland security forces,' says Lionel Thomas, Chairman of ATERMES. 'By combining the 'on-time' reach of radar detection with SURICATE's target classification based on intelligent multispectral optics, we deliver a modular, mission-adaptable system ideally suited for Iraq's complex security landscape.'
ATERMES' ongoing participation in IQDEX reflects its steadfast commitment to the Iraqi market. More than a simple product display, the company is intent on wearing a local behavior, on transferring technical expertise, launching local assembly lines, conducting joint demonstrations, and fostering localized R&D and training programs, thanks to our great complementarity with IST. By investing in these areas, ATERMES aims to cultivate Iraqi talent and support a sustainable ecosystem of defense innovation that helps ensure Iraq's long-term security and sovereignty.
ATERMES recognizes the growing importance of the Middle East defense market and views Iraq as a pivotal partner in the region. By working collaboratively with IST and other local stakeholders, ATERMES aims to foster mutually beneficial relationships that spur innovation, improve defense capabilities and bolster Iraq's technological self-reliance.

Italian fashion house Valentino hires Riccardo Bellini as CEO

Italian fashion house Valentino has appointed industry veteran Riccardo Bellini as new chief executive, it said on Wednesday, adding he will take up the role at the start of September. Bellini, who has been working as managing director of leading Valentino investor Mayhoola, replaces Jacopo Venturini whose departure was announced last week. "I am honored to join Valentino, an iconic maison that blends extraordinary heritage and craftsmanship with a unique creative voice," Bellini said in a statement. Bellini previously served as CEO of luxury brands Maison Margiela and Chloé, and held business and marketing leadership roles at Diesel and Procter & Gamble. Valentino, founded in Rome in 1960 by Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti, is part-owned by French luxury conglomerate Kering which bought a 30% stake in the label from Qatari fund Mayhoola for 1.7 billion euros ($1.98 billion) in 2023, with a commitment to buy the rest by 2028. Last month, Mayhoola denied a newspaper report that the two shareholders were considering selling Valentino. Kering declined to comment at the time.

Bar du Port set to open at Yas Marina Abu Dhabi - What's On

Abu Dhabi, get ready to raise your glasses. Bar du Port, the French-style bar that has been charming Dubai, Doha, Beirut, Byblos and Cairo, is dropping anchor at Yas Marina later this year. Think Riviera chic with just the right amount of mischief. The new location will take over the prime waterfront spot that has been home to Iris for more than a decade. It is a big swap, but Iris fans shouldn't panic just yet. The brand is working on its next act, while Bar du Port sails in with its own blend of luxury and fun. If you have ever visited one of their other locations, you will know Bar du Port is not your average bar. It is the kind of place where drinks come with a side of French flair, where the crowd is a mix of jet-setters and locals, and where the music and menu keep the energy buzzing long after sunset. This is the kind of bar that makes you feel like you've been whisked straight to the Riviera, even if your passport is still in your pocket. General Manager Jacque Kassab said this was an exciting new chapter. 'We are thrilled to bring Bar du Port's signature flair to Yas Marina and look forward to welcoming guests from across the world,' Kassab said. The Yas Marina address feels like a natural fit, simply because it's already a playground for nightlife, food, and fast cars. Bar du Port's arrival cements its reputation as a hotspot for those who like their evenings with a dash of glamour. And this is only the beginning. The group behind Bar du Port, AlphaMind, has big plans for Abu Dhabi, with three more venues on the way in the next year and a half. Bar du Port is expected to open sometime between October and December to usher Abu Dhabi into its world of 'a little luxury, a lot of fun.' LG PRESENTS NEW SPACE- AND ENERGY-EFFICIENT REFRIGERATOR LINEUP AT IFA 2025

LG Electronics (LG) is unveiling its latest refrigerator lineup for the European market at IFA 2025. Designed to deliver top-tier energy efficiency, the new french door and bottom-freezer models have been developed specifically for Europe's unique housing environments and consumer lifestyles, reflecting LG's extensive research into local needs and preferences. The lineup combines energy-saving performance, smart features and space-efficient styling that integrates seamlessly into modern homes. Outstanding Energy Efficiency Responding to increased demand for energy-efficient appliances across Europe, LG is introducing models that meet – and significantly surpass – the European Union's highest ('A') energy rating. The new bottom-freezer model exceeds the requirement for the A rating, while the French door model has impressively earned an A rating, despite being in a category where such ratings are rare. LG's exceptional energy efficiency was made possible by its optimized insulation design tailored for the European market, as well as AI-based features that help reduce electricity consumption by learning household usage patterns and optimizing compressor operation during periods of low activity.
