India's Test captain Shubman Gill was heard asking Akash Deep if he had taken an injection to ease his pain, as the latter suffered another injury during England's chase in the fifth Test of the series at Old Trafford in London. Akash was ruled out of the fourth Test with a back injury.
In the penultimate over of the first session on the fourth day of the fifth Test in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Brook drove a ball straight back at Akash, striking him on the shin.
After lunch, Gill continued with a pace-heavy approach as Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj operated in tandem. Washington Sundar was then introduced for a small spin spell, but the experiment fizzled out.

Meanwhile, Siraj bowled another lion-hearted eight-over spell as India took two wickets to leave England on 164/3 at lunch on day four of the final Test in London on Sunday, August 3.
Chasing a record 374, England still need 210 runs for the series-sealing victory over India, while the visitors would back themselves to bowl the hosts on a challenging track and level the series.
Having dismissed Zak Crawley on the last delivery of the third day, Siraj began the proceedings alongside Akash. Like the first innings, Siraj put his hand up and produced a fiery spell where he troubled Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope.
However, it was Prasidh Krishna who provided the opening breakthrough of the day when he drew Duckett into the drive and had him caught at second slip on what was his fourth delivery of the morning.
Siraj, too, was rewarded for his relentless approach when he trapped Pope in front for the second time in the match with a sharp nip-backer off a wobbled seam.
Pope had just found his groove, having collected three boundaries off Prasidh before being dismissed in the next over.

In his maiden outing as South Africa captain, Mulder struck a mammoth 367 not out against Zimbabwe but declared his team's innings when he could have broken legendary Brian Lara's record for highest individual total of 400 not out against England in 2004. The ICC said, 'He scored 531 runs across the two matches at an astonishing average of 265.50, including a composed 147 in the second innings of the first Test.' 'However, his standout act came in the second Test at Bulawayo, where he smashed an unbeaten 367 in his maiden outing as South Africa's Test skipper — the highest individual score in South African Test history.' 'Mulder also chipped in with the ball, claiming seven wickets at just 15.28 apiece, including a four-wicket haul in the first Test,' it added.
