Nissan shows off newly redesigned SUV lineup at Cleveland Auto Show

Yahoo25-02-2025
CLEVELAND (WJW) – Nissan is one of the very first brands you see when you walk in the I-X Center for the 2025 Cleveland Auto Show.
The Japanese automaker has close to 10 vehicles on display on the showroom floor, with multiple newly redesigned SUVs highlighting the lineup.
Guardians owner Larry Dolan dies at 94
'The 2025 Murano, the 2025 Kicks, and the 2025 Armada, those are the three that I just think that are just outstanding,' I-90 Nissan Managing Partner Diehl Belza said. 'They're world-class, they're top of the echelon, and I'd love to get the chance to show you a few of them.'
Belza said Kicks will be one of the best-selling vehicles this year, due to it's new capabilities, like All Wheel Drive, a wider dual-screen display and a Bose Personal Plus Audio System – affordable with base models priced well under $25,000.
'Northeast Ohio, you 'gotta have that,' he said.
Belza said Nissan's affordability is unmatched, specifically in the full-size SUV market.
'When you look at the 2025 Armada, it's a vehicle that starts under $60,000,' Belza said. 'In that large segment, that's inexpensive. Most of them are up to $120,000. Our platinum reserve model tops out at $85,000, with many of the features that competing models don't even have.'
Belza said between I-90 Nissan in Sheffield Village and Nissan of North Olmsted, there's close to 500 new vehicles in stock, and special auto show discounts for customers.
'Nissan this year, every model line has an incentive on it, which is the first time ever,' Belza said. 'So, if you're looking to make a decision, this is probably a really good time to do it. It's up to $1,000 extra auto cash on many of the models. And the lowest component is $500. So, take advantage if you're really in the marketplace, which many people are, please take advantage of it.'
'Cyber incident' shuts down Cleveland Municipal Court for a second day

Nissan Xterra and Pathfinder Are Coming Back as Body-on-Frame, Hybrid SUVs: Report

The latest car news, reviews, and features. When I think of the Nissan Xterra SUV, I think of it in bright yellow and jumping over dunes as I 'drove' it on 4×4 Evo for the Sega Dreamcast. I wasn't of driving age when the popular off-roader first came out, but according to a new report, I may have the chance to drive one after all in the not-so-distant future. According to Automotive News , the Japanese automaker shared the news of the Xterra and Pathfinder's return to Nissan's lineup at its national dealer meeting in Las Vegas on Wednesday. Per the outlet, the Xterra was described as a 'rugged, affordable midsize SUV' that'll go on sale in 2028. Nissan Americas Chairman Christian Meunier reportedly shared images of a design study performed by the automaker, teasing a boxy, adventure-ready SUV with an 'upright grille and squarish headlights.' According to the report, these sketches are tied to new, upcoming body-on-frame models like the Xterra, Pathfinder, and Infiniti QX60 SUVs, as well as the Frontier pickup truck. Nissan 'We are laser-focused on product [and] we are just getting started,' Meunier told attendees, according to AN . 'We have done a better job of planning, making sure the right cars are in the right place.' Specs for individual vehicles were not divulged, but the report claims that the upcoming Xterra is expected to feature a hybrid V6 engine with a range extender capable of 75 miles of electric-only driving. These vehicles are expected to be built at the automaker's Canton, Mississippi, factory, where the Frontier is currently built. The annual meeting, which featured new Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa and was attended by 2,500 guests, also revealed other future plans by the automaker, including a Skyline-based Infiniti sedan with a manual transmission, an electrified Rogue crossover, and other updates across the Nissan and Infiniti lineup. After years of slumping sales and a failed merger with Honda, Nissan will be doing all it can to keep dealers and customers on its side, and hope that its new, revamped products can get her quickly enough to avoid more casualties. Report: Infiniti to Revive Q50 Sports Sedan with a Manual Gearbox

Infiniti is planning to revive the Q50 sedan in 2027, according to a report from Automotive News. The report states that the Q50 would borrow the twin-turbocharged V-6 from the Nissan Z coupe and offer a manual transmission. The six-cylinder engine could be boosted to over 450 horsepower, and we expect this new sedan to be built in Japan. UPDATE 8/21/25, 2:45 p.m.: This story has been updated with a statement from Infiniti. When Infiniti discontinued the Q50 sedan after the 2024 model year, it appeared that the brand was set to solely focus on SUVs. While Infiniti had teased an electric sedan with the Vision Qe concept in 2023, those plans were scuppered earlier this year. But now it seems Infiniti is reversing course yet again, with a report from Automotive News claiming that Infiniti will revive the Q50 as a gas-powered sports sedan in 2027, and it might even come with a stick shift. The news comes from parent company Nissan's recent dealer meeting in Las Vegas, where the automaker reportedly teased the new Q50. Automotive News, citing anonymous sources familiar with the plans, claims that the new model will continue to share a platform with the Nissan Skyline sedan sold in Japan and will borrow the twin-turbocharged V-6 engine found in the Z sports car. A video shown at the meeting reportedly showed a sleekly styled vehicle with circular taillights that recall the classic Skyline models. We reached out to Infiniti regarding this report, and while the company didn't confirm the news, it didn't exactly deny it either. A spokesperson told us, "Infiniti is executing a five-year product strategy that includes at least four all-new models: QX65 sportback SUV, a high-performance sports sedan, midsize e-POWER hybrid crossover, all-electric SUV." INFINITI The model was reportedly referred to as the Q50S at the dealer meeting, and Infiniti is also apparently considering a Red Sport performance trim as well. The Q50S will stick with a rear-wheel-drive layout, and even more enticingly, the report states that Infiniti will offer the sports sedan with a manual transmission. No specifics regarding the powertrain were shared at the meeting, but the Nissan Z's twin-turbo V-6 is rated at 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque in the Sport and Performance trims, which it is offered in conjunction with a six-speed manual gearbox. In the automatic-only NISMO variant, the engine gets boosted to 420 horsepower and 384 pound-feet. Automotive News reports that the engine could be tuned to produce more than 450 hp. Infiniti is reportedly targeting customers who are wealthy, over 50 years old, and mostly male, who came of age when Infiniti was selling the popular G35 coupe. The second-generation Q50 is reportedly set to arrive in the second half of 2027. There's no word yet on where it would be built, but we think it will likely be assembled in Japan, since that is where the Skyline and Z are currently produced. Report: Nissan Xterra Will Return in 2028 with V-6 Hybrid Power

Nissan confirmed plans to launch 20 new and updated models between now and spring 2027, according to an Automotive News report. Following that, the brand is also planning to revive the Xterra nameplate, though not as an EV as we previously thought. Instead, the new Xterra will reportedly ride on a new body-on-frame platform and will sport a V-6 hybrid. With a new captain at the helm, Nissan is making sweeping changes in its plans for the future. According to a report by Automotive News, Nissan is committed to launching 20 new and updated models in the U.S. and Canada by spring 2027. Nissan The news came out of the automaker's national dealer meeting on August 20 in Las Vegas. In the meeting, Nissan told its dealers about plans to launch a revived version of the Xterra SUV in 2028. While Nissan didn't share any product specs during the meeting, Auto News cited people familiar with the plan who said the Xterra will ride on a new body-on-frame platform. The platform is reportedly designed to support five models, including an updated Frontier, as well as future versions of the Pathfinder and Infiniti's QX60. This isn't the first we've heard about the Xterra returning, but it is the most concrete information we've had since we caught wind of Nissan's plans in March. Previous reporting anticipated the Xterra to utilize a fully electric powertrain, but the new report suggests otherwise. According to Auto News, the 2028 Xterra will have a V-6 hybrid and could even store a range-extender powertrain with up to 75 miles of electric-only driving. When asked for comment about the report, a Nissan spokesperson declined to confirm the plans, but also shied away from outright denying them. "We're always listening to our customers and appreciate the passion they share for Nissan's iconic nameplates," the representative said. "The enthusiasm surrounding Xterra is a testament to its lasting impact. While we have no announcements to make at this time, we're excited about the future and are committed to delivering rugged, adventure-ready vehicles that embody the spirit of exploration." More Hybrids and Crossovers But the brand won't be relaxing between now and the launch of the Xterra. According to the Auto News report, the planned overhaul of Nissan's lineup is biased towards popular models in the U.S.—i.e., hybrids and utility vehicles. KGP Photography | Car and Driver 2026 Nissan Sentra The list of updated models includes new generations for the Rogue, Sentra, and Infiniti's Q50. We reported on plans for the updated Rogue in March. There'll be a two-stage arrival, with a refreshed version showing up in 2026, and a totally new, fourth-generation Rogue arriving in 2027. The latter will feature Nissan's ePower series-hybrid system as an option. We've also reported on the updated Sentra, which is slated to enter a new generation for 2026. Jack Fitzgerald Associate News Editor Jack Fitzgerald's love for cars stems from his as yet unshakable addiction to Formula 1. After a brief stint as a detailer for a local dealership group in college, he knew he needed a more permanent way to drive all the new cars he couldn't afford and decided to pursue a career in auto writing. By hounding his college professors at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he was able to travel Wisconsin seeking out stories in the auto world before landing his dream job at Car and Driver. His new goal is to delay the inevitable demise of his 2010 Volkswagen Golf. Read full bio
