Selena Scores A Top 10 Hit As Fans Honor The Anniversary Of Her Passing

Forbes11-04-2025
Selena scores a familiar top 10 hit on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart and holds at No. 1 on ... More Latin Pop Albums, as fans revisit her music 30 years after her death. American singer Selena (born Selena Quintanilla-Perez, 1971 - 1995) rides in a carriage during a performance at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo at the Houston Astrodome, Houston, Texas, February 26, 1995. Even three decades after her death, Selena Quintanilla remains one of the most celebrated Latin musicians in American history. The beloved singer continues to regularly find space on the Billboard charts, with some frames being bigger than others, and this week is especially meaningful for her music. As one of her most popular albums keeps climbing, several of her biggest hits return to one ranking at the same time – and she even manages to claim a top 10 smash.
Selena Charts Two Hit Singles
Two of Selena's biggest hits return to the Latin Digital Song Sales chart, the list that tracks the bestselling Latin songs in the U.S. based on digital purchases on platforms like iTunes and Amazon. The ranking, which highlights Spanish-language tracks, welcomes back a pair of her most beloved singles.
"Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" reappears at No. 10, bringing the late star back to the top 10 on a Billboard songs tally – not something just any artist can manage. Just a few spaces further down, "Como La Flor" returns at No. 13.
The Latin Digital Song Sales chart now features just 15 positions, and this time around, only three tracks reenter the tally – and Selena claims two of them. Her two returning tunes easily outperform "Azul" by J Balvin, which settles at No. 15. That song only makes its second-ever appearance on the list, while Selena's cuts have been frequent visitors for years.
Selena is also present on multiple albums-focused rosters in the U.S. Her project Ones continues to perform well on Billboard's Latin charts, as is almost always the case. The greatest hits compilation remains steady at No. 1 on the Top Latin Pop Albums ranking – a position that seems especially fitting for a set titled Ones.
At the same time, the same collection rises on another, more competitive list. Ones jumps six spaces on the Top Latin Albums chart, the tally that tracks the most-consumed Latin projects in the U.S.
Fans seem to be returning to Selena's music in greater numbers than usual at the moment for an easily identifiable, but very sad, reason. March 31 marked the thirtieth anniversary of her passing. The iconic singer was shot and killed in 1995, and this somber milestone was not missed by many of her most ardent supporters. Her murder was recently back in the news not just because of the anniversary, but also as her killer was recently denied parole.

The 13 Best Opening Night Live Trailers at Gamescom 2025

Europe's big gaming event of the year, Gamescom 2025, has kicked off with Opening Night Live, an extensive trailer showcase giving early looks at the biggest games coming later this year and into 2026. Last year's Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live had a ton of reveals, including Mafia: The Old Country and trailers for then-upcoming games like Marvel Rivals, Dune Awakening and more. This year's showcase had some big reveals and some tantalizingly short teases -- like around 20 seconds of Silksong, the long-awaited sequel/spinoff to indie darling Hollow Night. Below are the biggest trailers for the two-hour Opening Night Live event. Fallout: Season 2 Amazon's Fallout show was a delightful surprise, faithfully adapting a beloved gaming franchise -- and just being pretty darn good. Gamescom 2025 features the debut trailer of the second season, which arrives Dec. 17, as well as an on-stage chat with the showrunners and stars Ella Purnell and Aaron Moten. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 We got our first long look at the story, which mixes cerebral mindscapes with your typical fast-paced Call of Duty combat. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime Yes, FromSoftware's cult favorite samurai game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is getting an anime adaptation called Sekiro: No Defeat. The trailer shows the game's protagonist, swordsman Wolf, both before and after he receives his prosthetic arm -- suggesting we could see things both before and during the course of the original game. The anime will debut on Crunchyroll at an unstated date. Resident Evil: Requiem We got a brief look at Resident Evil: Requiem (aka Resident Evil 9) at Summer Game Fest, but this trailer shows a peek at player character Grace Ashcroft and her mother -- before things get bad. Details are scarce about the story, though Capcom has insisted that the game will lean way more into horror and terror than other recent entries in the series, like the run-and-gun Resident Evil 8. Black Myth Wukong sequel revealed Chinese developer Game Science wowed the games world with Black Myth Wukong, and Gamescom 2025 featured the reveal trailer of the next game in its series, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, which will be another action-adventure game based on Chinese myth -- in this case, the ghost-catching god Zhong Kui. Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy 14 Well this is fun: a crossover between two of the biggest games in the world, Monster Hunter Wilds, which was released earlier this year, and perennial MMORPG Final Fantasy 14. Both games will get content from each other -- here's the trailer for the Monster Hunter Wilds portion coming late October and here's one for the Final Fantasy 14 portion coming late September. Silent Hill F The next big Silent Hill game got another trailer and plenty of teases for the lore of the title, which is set in the 1960s in Japan. Onimusha: Way of the Sword It's been nearly 20 years since the last new Onimusha game came out, and now we've got another look at Onimusha: Way of the Sword -- which looks to preserve the originals' sword-and-parry combat with other magical weapons. Demons, bosses and brutal executions abound in the Onimusha trailer. Cronos: The New Dawn Bloober Team's follow-up to last year's Silent Hill 2 remake, we got another look at Cronos: The New Dawn. This peek showed some of the gameplay for its third-person shooter combat as well as a ton of the hideous monsters you'll encounter in the game, which launches soon, on Sept. 5. Outer Worlds 2 Obsidian's sequel to the space action RPG Outer Worlds got a trailer showcasing the companions you'll meet and fight alongside in the game. "And no, you can't sleep with them," the trailer voiceover cheekily pointed out. Boooo. Ninja Gaiden 4 The next trailer for Ninja Gaiden 4 includes looks at boss fights, including giant robots and futuristic samurai with stylized armor. While demons and ninja fights are still in the game, the futuristic setting looks more prominent than we'd previously seen. Ghost of Yotei Another trailer from the upcoming sequel to Ghost of Tsushima has dropped, showing more gameplay, from traversal across beautiful lands to swordfights in the snow. The beautiful tale of revenge is coming Oct. 2 -- and the DLC, Ghost of Yotei Legends, is coming in 2026. World of Warcraft: Midnight The next big expansion to the long-running MMORPG World of Warcraft, titled Midnight, is coming soon -- and Blizzard Entertainment has, in its grand tradition, unveiled a riveting story trailer to set the stage for the next chapter in Azeroth's story.

‘Fallout' Season 2 Gets An Incredible New Trailer With A Brand New Villain

Amazon revealed the release date for Fallout's second season the other day, and gave us our first glimpse at images from the upcoming season. The series returns much sooner than I expected, which is a pleasant surprise. Now, during the Opening Night Live ceremony at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Microsoft and Bethesda along with Amazon, released the show's first Season 2 trailer. The biggest reveal in this trailer is the casting of Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) as Robert House, the enigmatic leader of New Vegas. We first met House (outside of the video games) in Season 1, when he met with other world leaders to help plan the end of the world, and the oligarchy's dastardly plan for the future. In the trailer, he talks with Goggins' character, actor Cooper Howard, before he becomes the Ghoul and before the nuclear apocalypse. Check it out: The best moment in that trailer goes to Ella Purnell's Lucy. 'I defer to you about what to do in this situation,' she says, her face pale, as she and the Ghoul come into contact with what looks very much like a dragon. The second season releases its premiere on December 17th with weekly episodes to follow up until February 4th. 'The new season will pick up in the aftermath of Season One's epic finale and take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas,' the show's description reads. Purnell, Goggins and Theroux are joined by Aaron Moten Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias and Frances Turner and many more. I can't wait.

Oasis' Noel Gallagher Breaks Silence in First Interview Since Reunion: ‘It's Great Being Back in a Band With Liam'

So far, Oasis have let the music do the talking. Liam and Noel Gallagher have just wound up the first round of UK and Irish dates on their sold-out Live '25 tour and in a testament to the breathless enthusiasm that's greeted their first round of shows in more than 16 years they've hardly had to talk up the dates at all. In fact, until Tuesday (Aug. 19) neither brother had sat down for a proper interview about the shows at all. But Noel, who like his younger sibling singer Liam, is simply mad about football, called in to his favorite drive-time sports chat show, talkSPORT with Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent, to chat about Man City, and, of course, how things are going with the formerly battling brothers. More from Billboard Oasis Takes Over Dublin for Triumphant First Ireland Live Show Since 2009 Oasis in 1996: What's the Story Behind the Britpop Giants' Lone Year of U.S. Pop Stardom? Oasis Is Reuniting For 2025 Tour Saying he was feeling 'a bit shaky' after the band's two-night run at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday (Aug. 16) and Sunday (Aug. 17), Gallagher summed up the weekend by saying, 'there was a lot of singing, a lot of drinking and a lot of talking nonsense… it was quite a night.' Noel said he's on 'top of the world' at the moment, professing to be 'completely blown away' by how the gigs the reunited band have played so far have been received. 'It's difficult to put into words, actually,' said the band's lyricist. 'Every night is the crowd's first night, so every night's got that same kind of energy. It's been truly amazing… I'm not usually short for words, but I can't really articulate it at the minute.' Asked how he was feeling on July 4 in Cardiff, Wales, when the band were gearing up to take the stage for the first show of a tour pretty much nobody thought would ever happen, Noel said Oasis have never been one of those bands who have a prayerful 'huddle' before they go on. That said, speaking just for himself, Noel admitted he, 'grossly underestimated what I was getting into… After about five minutes I was like, 'All right, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again?' I've done stadiums before and all but, but I don't mind telling you my legs are turned to jelly after about halfway through the second song.' Summing it up, Noel said simply, 'it's been an amazing thing.' Reflecting on the emotional hug the brothers shared at the end of the first reunion show in July, Noel said, 'we're not those kind of guys, really… It's great just to be back with [guitarist] Bonehead and Liam and just be doing it again. I guess when it's all said and done we'll sit and reflect on it, but it's great being back in a band with Liam. I forgot how funny he was.' Giving his former sibling rival props for sounding great at the shows, Noel said, 'Liam's smashing it. I'm proud of him.' After fronting his own band for the 16 years they were apart — the High Flying Birds — Noel said he knows the pressures of being the lead singer and admitted, 'I couldn't do the stadium thing like he does it…. I kind of look around and I think, 'You know, good for you, mate.' He's been amazing.' Also, in case you were wondering, yes, he's still getting hit up all the time by mates looking to score the hard-to-get tickets. 'When it all started, the ticket sales and all that, there was a few people who I would have expected to [be] looking for tickets who didn't,' he said. 'But after the first gig my phone just exploded.' Saying he feels bad for those who are left outside on the streets singing the band's songs at top volume after getting shut out on getting tickets, Noel said the showering of love is 'mental… it's more than the band. It's more than the songs. There's something else going on that we've not quite been able to our fingers on yet. Looking forward, Noel said he's really looking forward to playing one of the band's last shows, at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Nov. 15 and 16. 'We've played there a couple of times and the Argentinians are without doubt in the top five places for us to play in the world.' When Goldstein brought up persistent rumors that the band might be playing the Knebworth Festival next year on the 30th anniversary of their legendary 1996 headlining slot for 250,000 fans over two nights at that event, Noel politely moved right past that query and insisted they get on with the football talk.
