Applebee's unveils all-new summer food lineup full of fan favorites featuring a 2 for $25 deal

Daily Mail14-07-2025
Applebee's is celebrating the summer season with all-new items and a 2 for $25 deal.
The restaurant chain launched its new lineup Monday at participating US locations, which features new food and drinks and the return of a fan favorite lemonade.
The meals joining its 2 for $25 offer are Chicken Parmesan Fettuccine and BIG Bangin' Burger.
The fettuccine dish is a classic meal for Applebee's, while the burger features two cheese slices and a dose of its new sweet and spicy sauce made with jalapenos and bacon.
Along with the chain's new foods comes Applebee's latest Summertime Sip creations: Perfect Watermelon Margarita and Watermelon Lime Rush.
Other drinks that have made their way to the summer lineup are the Backyard Blackberry Lemonade and Coors Light Brewtus.
Applebee's is also offering a new Strawberry Lemon Sunshine beverage, created in collaboration with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to support childhood cancer.
Restaurant guests interested in trying these new offerings for themselves can do so now, but only for a limited time. The newest lineup comes just weeks after Applebee's extended its All You Can Eat (AYCE) deal.
The drinks featured in this year's summer lineup is the Perfect Watermelon Margarita, Backyard Blackberry Lemonade, Coors Light Brewtus, and Watermelon Lime Rush
Applebee's has also recently made headlines after abruptly closing a restaurant in St Petersburg, Florida.
The chain left customers and employees stunned after reportedly closing the location with just seven hours' notice.
All that was left on the abandoned building was a sign thanking locals for their 'many years of business' and encouraging them to visit another Applebee's location.
It comes as the chain has been struggling with a dip in sales, suffering a 2.2 percent sales decline during this year's first quarter.
The chain has been looking for ways to bounce back from its hardships, from an increase in deals to improving customer rewards.
Applebee's parent company Dine Brands Global also consolidated a number of locations to help save costs and closed about 300 restaurants between 2016 and 2023.
The chain shuttered up to 35 restaurants in 2024, and is set to close between 20 and 25 this year.

Besides at Applebee's, summer deals have been blowing up at a string of fast food restaurants.
Sonic started up a half-price milkshake deal and brought back its fan favorite Watermelon and Lemonberry Slush drinks.
Burger King and Wendy's have made limited-time offerings, including BOGOs.
Once the season started heating up, Jimmy Johns entered the ring with its new Lemon Sunshine Cookie and a limited-time sandwich lineup.
Other restaurant chains that are competing with merchandise instead of food include Olive Garden with its pasta-inspired pool floats, and Panera Bread's S'Mac and Cheese lip balm to celebrate National Mac & Cheese Day.

Trump border czar reacts after Indy 500 track boss demands end to ‘Speedway Slammer' moniker for new migrant detention center

Trump border czar Tom Homan appeared to have no idea Wednesday when asked who was behind the name 'Speedway Slammer,' given to a new migrant detention center in Indiana. 'I don't name the facilities,' Homan told reporters. "I don't want the names taken over the great work they're doing,' Homan said of immigration officers. 'This is serious work and it's dangerous work." The Trump administration is working to build out a vast network of migrant detention centers across the country, and recently opened a facility in the Florida Everglades, known as 'Alligator Alcatraz.' It was constructed in weeks, using hundreds of tents, trailers, and other temporary facilities. It's set to hold as many as 3,000 detainees. On Tuesday, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem wrote on X: 'COMING SOON to Indiana: The Speedway Slammer. Today, we're announcing a new partnership with the state of Indiana to expand detention bed space by 1,000 beds. Thanks to @GovBraun for his partnership to help remove the worst of the worst out of our country. If you are in America illegally, you could find yourself in Indiana's Speedway Slammer. Avoid arrest and self deport now using the @CBP Home App.' Then, the official DHS account on X shared an image of what appeared to be an AI-generated Indy car with Immigration and Customs Enforcement branding. The car was branded with the number 5, which has been used by the only Mexican IndyCar driver, Pato O'Ward, since 2020. On Wednesday, Penske Entertainment, the owner of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, said the company did not want its intellectual property used alongside the detention center. 'We were unaware of plans to incorporate our imagery as part of the announcement,' the company told IndyStar in a statement. 'Consistent with our approach to public policy and political issues, we are communicating our preference that our IP not be utilized moving forward in relation to this matter.' Penske Entertainment hasn't publicly demanded a retraction, and it hasn't issued a cease-and-desist order to stop the use of the imagery and name. The 'Speedway Slammer' will be located at Miami Correctional Facility, a maximum-security prison at the former Grissom Air Force Base, 70 miles north of Indianapolis in Bunker Hill. The 1,000 beds that will be made available represent roughly a third of its total capacity. Immigration advocates have grown frustrated with the sheer amount that's unknown about the 'Speedway Slammer.' Gurinder Kaur, CEO of the Immigrant Welcome Center, told WTHR: "How will this become actualized? We still don't know yet. And what will the cost of this be on our communities? The emotional cost and the economic cost?" On August 1, Indiana Governor Mike Braun confirmed that his state had entered into a partnership with federal immigration authorities in connection with the state's Department of Homeland Security, the Indiana Department of Corrections, the Indiana State Police, and the state's National Guard to aid the federal government 'in deporting individuals who are unlawfully in the U.S.' Braun said the Department of Corrections is working alongside ICE to free up as many as 1,000 beds at the Miami Correctional Facility. "When it comes to our state, we're going to cooperate ... as we're housing detainees that have broken the law after they entered illegally, we're going to cooperate with the federal government," the governor told IndyStar. "When it comes to any of the other issues on due process and so forth, we want to make sure we're doing that the right way as well." Braun's commitment comes as Homan called on states to play a bigger part in federal immigration enforcement. 'States should play a role in this administration's efforts to remove public safety threats from this nation as quickly as possible,' Homan also said Wednesday. 'I've said from day one, we need 100,000 beds.'

Doordash forecasts strong quarter on resilient delivery demand

Aug 6 (Reuters) - Doordash (DASH.O), opens new tab forecast third-quarter gross merchandise value above Wall Street expectations after topping estimates on Wednesday, betting on robust demand for food and grocery deliveries through its platform. The company's offers and promotions, particularly in its U.S. and international markets for members, has attracted budget-conscious consumers seeking value to its online services. Doordash expects gross merchandise value, a measure of the total dollar value of orders placed through its platform, to be between $24.2 billion and $24.7 billion for the current quarter, above estimates of $23.73 billion, according to estimates compiled by LSEG. Doordash's shares were up 6% in extended trading after the company also topped estimates for second-quarter revenue and gross merchandise value. The company also reiterated its expectations for its purchase of U.K. rival Deliveroo (ROO.L), opens new tab to close in the fourth quarter. Doordash has expanded its online delivery options beyond food to groceries, alcohol, electronics and beauty products, boosting sales while restaurants battled sluggish demand amid economic uncertainty. Gross merchandise value rose 23% to $24.2 billion in the quarter ended June 30, beating estimates of $23.58 billion, with total orders climbing 20% year-over-year. Total revenue of $3.28 billion for the reported three-month period also beat estimates of $3.16 billion. Net revenue margin inched higher to 13.5% from 13.3% a year ago, helped by robust advertising revenue. Rival UberEats' parent Uber (UBER.N), opens new tab also forecast a strong third quarter earlier in the day, banking on robust demand for ride-hailing and deliveries.

If Russian oil sales are stopped, Putin may fall

At last there are signs that Donald Trump means business in his dealings with Vladimir Putin. The US president has delivered an ultimatum, warning that Russia poses an 'unusual and extraordinary threat' to the US, while hitting India – Russia's biggest oil customer – with secondary sanctions. Talks in the Kremlin between Mr Putin and Steve Witkoff, Mr Trump's envoy, have fuelled speculation about a possible truce in the war with Ukraine. However, so far nothing concrete has emerged and Mr Trump's mercurial character adds an extra element of uncertainty to this game of diplomatic poker. He has given the Russians until Friday to agree to an unconditional ceasefire. More important has been the president's decision to impose an additional 25 per cent tariff on imports from India, on top of the 25 per cent levy already imposed last week. It is a major blow to Narendra Modi, India's prime minister, not only because his country is having to pay a much higher rate than other Asian countries, but because his personal relationship with the president had been hailed as an unusually cordial one. In May, however, Mr Modi showed insufficient gratitude for Mr Trump's role in brokering an end to the armed confrontation with Pakistan. The US president, notoriously transactional in relationships with foreign leaders, is proving to be unsentimental in penalising India for enabling the Russian war effort to continue. The subcontinental superpower's imports of Moscow's crude oil fill Putin's coffers to the tune of £41bn annually. Choking off this lucrative source of revenue for the Kremlin could open up a real chance of peace in Ukraine. Where, though, is Europe in all this? The answer, shamefully, is nowhere. The EU is still importing Russian oil and gas on a large scale. Last year, these imports contributed almost £20bn to Moscow's war machine – a figure that easily exceeded EU financial aid to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Labour Government has killed off our North Sea energy industry in the name of net zero. According to Downing Street, it is better to pay a premium to import fossil fuels than to produce them ourselves. Nor must anything be said or done to risk the new era of Anglo-Indian trade and investment ushered in by Mr Modi's visit last month. While Ukrainian civilians continue to die in ever greater numbers from Russian bombardment, Europe and the UK are turning a blind eye to the dirty money that is financing this dirty war. It is time for Sir Keir Starmer to follow the American lead, set an example to Europe, and get tough with Putin's enablers.
