Netflix secures broadcast rights for Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford boxing mega-fight

The biggest boxing fight of 2025 has found a home on the biggest streaming service in the world. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford, the Sept. 13 mega-fight between pound-for-pound greats for the sport's undisputed super middleweight titles, will be streamed globally by Netflix at no additional cost to its subscribers, Turki Alalshikh announced Tuesday. Advertisement In a major victory for the sport, Alvarez vs. Crawford becomes the third boxing event over a span of just 10 months to stream on the Netflix platform, which boasts more than 300 million global subscribers. The controversial Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul heavyweight fight became the first boxing event on Netflix this past November, ultimately being watched by an audience exceeding 65 million viewers. Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 2 was the co-feature on that night, and now the two future Hall of Famers are set to headline Netflix's second boxing event with their trilogy fight on July 11 in New York. Additionally, Alalshikh said that Alvarez vs. Crawford will take place in Las Vegas but did not name a venue. Allegiant Stadium was originally supposed to host Alvarez vs. Crawford on Sept. 12, however once the date of the fight changed to Sept. 13, it was unable to do so, as the venue had a preexisting booking with the UNLV Rebels vs. Idaho State college football game. Advertisement It was then announced that Saudi-owned Sela would be the lead promoter for the highly anticipated 168-pound showdown instead of TKO Boxing — the latter being an entity formed by Alalshikh, UFC CEO Dana White and WWE president Nick Khan earlier this year. White and the UFC faced a dilemma when the date shifted from Sept. 12 to Sept. 13, as the UFC had already committed to promoting its Noche UFC 3 event on that date. However, construction delays at Mexico's Arena Guadalajara forced the show to be moved to San Antonio and become a Fight Night event rather than the originally-planned pay-per-view card. After this happened, White was able to commit to Alvarez vs. Crawford again, and thus TKO will be the lead promoter for the event. Allegiant Stadium is also understood to be back in play to host the show, with a potential deal in the works to shift the UNLV football game off the date. Alvarez and Crawford will come face-to-face for a three-city press tour beginning on June 20 in Riyadh, then on June 22 in New York, before concluding June 27 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

‘Too Much' Trailer: Lena Dunham Directs Semi-Autobiographical Rom-Com Starring Megan Stalter

Girls creator and star Lena Dunham is back with a television series, but this time she's behind the camera rather than onscreen in Netflix's Too Much. The rom-com series, starring Megan Stalter, arrives on the streaming service on July 10. In the official trailer for the show, thirtysomething Jessica (Stalter) is looking for adventure, leaving her life in New York for London. But when she gets there, it's not as glamorous as she envisioned like 'British Jones Diaries' she tells love interest Felix (Will Sharpe) mistakenly referencing the Bridget Jones film and book franchise (Felix makes a Love Actually reference, which is apt as that film's producers are also involved in the series). Felix is also deemed a 'walking series of red flags.' Still, the spark can't be ignored, and their relationship, whatever form it ends up taking, appears to grow in the clip. Netflix just added a new dystopian drama — and it's already 100% on Rotten Tomatoes

When looking through everything new on Netflix this week, one of the shows that caught my eye was "Families like Ours." This Danish dystopian drama miniseries comes from the mind of Academy Award-nominated director Thomas Vinterberg ("Another Round"), who wrote and directed all seven episodes. The show is set in a near-future Denmark where rising sea levels have caused the Danes to abandon their homeland. But while the impending doom of the story certainly plays a role, the show is more focused on how the mass exodus impacts those forced to leave — and those who choose to stay behind. While the drama series is new to Netflix this week, it debuted at the Venice International Film Festival last year and then first aired in its native Denmark later that same year. That means we already have some critical reviews, and they're so far very positive — a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. So here's everything you need to know about "Families like Ours," and why it needs to be the show you start binge-watching right now. As I already mentioned, "Families Like Ours" is set in a near-future world where rising sea levels force the Danish government to announce a mass evacuation. This decision causes a catastrophic domino effect. Property becomes worthless, which tanks the wealth of the Danish people. Those who still have wealth can sometimes secure their evacuations to the countries of their choosing, but others must take part in a government-funded relocation process that can tear families apart. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. One such family is Laura's (Amaryllis August), whose family is being torn apart as her mother (Paprika Steen) goes to one place, her father (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) to another and her boyfriend, Elías (Albert Rudbeck Lindhardt), goes to yet another location. Now Laura has to choose which path she'll take for herself. There aren't a ton of critics' reviews for "Families like Ours" yet, but those that have come in are all positive, albeit while highlighting some of the show's shortcomings. "Fascinating and infuriating in equal measure and ultimately oddly moving, for all its flaws," wrote Keith Watson for The Telegraph (UK). "'Families Like Ours' pulls you into its emotional slipstream and won't let go." Lucy Mangan had a similarly positive review, with some caveats. "There is much to admire," she wrote. "It doesn't preach, it does have the themes work through the characters instead of the other way round (and has a cast stuffed with Danish heavyweights to help it). But it all feels a bit thin, a bit bloodless – like a thought experiment made flesh rather than a compelling, provocative drama." By all accounts, "Families like Ours" won't suddenly become the next "Adolescence" for Netflix. But it also seems like everyone who has watched it has given it a positive review. Even better, as a seven-part miniseries, you're getting a complete story that you could finish over a week or even on a lazy weekend day. So, yes, go ahead and hit play on this Danish drama next time you log onto the streaming service. It definitely seems to be worth a watch. Stream "Families like Ours" now on Netflix Malcolm has been with Tom's Guide since 2022, and has been covering the latest in streaming shows and movies since 2023. He's not one to shy away from a hot take, including that "John Wick" is one of the four greatest films ever made. Here's what he's been watching lately:
