Israel vows to occupy Gaza to clear out Hamas terrorists and then hand it over to Arab forces

ISRAEL has vowed to take full control of Gaza to clear out Hamas terrorists, then hand it over to friendly Arab forces.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country was 'well on our way' to ensuring Gaza 'doesn't pose a threat to Israel again'.
He told Fox News: 'We intend to, in order to ensure our security, remove Hamas there, and to pass it to civilian governance that is not Hamas and not anyone advocating the destruction of Israel.
'We want to liberate ourselves and liberate the people of Gaza from the awful terror of Hamas.'
Mr Netanyahu added: 'We want to have a security perimeter.
"We don't want to govern it.
"We don't want to be there as a governing body.'
He said Israel wants to 'hand it over to Arab forces that will govern it properly, without threatening us, and giving the Gazans a good life.'
The Israeli military says it already has operational control of 75 per cent of the Gaza Strip, while the United Nations has said around 87 per cent is under Israeli military control or subject to evacuation orders.
US ambassador Mike Huckabee insisted it was up to the Israeli government to decide if they want to annex Gaza.
He said he would not 'tell them what they should or shouldn't do'.
But Israel's opposition leader Yair Lapid warned Mr Netanyahu's proposal to take over Gaza would lead to 'another war' and 'more dead hostages'.

Labor government 'grants' visa to Palestinian woman who praised Hamas terrorist attack on Israel: 'Praise be to Allah'

A Palestinian woman who praised Hamas 's October 7 massacre has reportedly been granted a visa to come to Australia, despite Prime Minister Anthony Albanese welcoming a report calling for applicants to be barred for extremist views. Mona Zahed, a chef and married mother of four who lives in Gaza, celebrated the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of 1,200 people on October 7, 2023. 'We woke up and got God's kingdom,' she wrote, the day after the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, which also saw 251 people taken hostage by Hamas terrorists. In a now-deleted post, Ms Zahed shared a photo of terrified Nova music festivalgoers fleeing for their lives alongside a picture of refugees fleeing the 'Nakba' or catastrophe in 1948, which established the state of Israel and saw the mass displacement of Palestinians. 'Praise be to Allah who has kept us alive to see this day,' Ms Zahed captioned the post, first reported by the Herald Sun. Ms Zahed, who wrote a cookbook while living in a displacement tent in southern Gaza called Tabkha: Recipes from Under the Rubble, has been supported by Melbourne-based artist Matt Chun. Last month, Mr Chun revealed that his partner Tess Cullity, who publishes the cookbook, had been 'working alongside human rights lawyers to secure safe passage for Mona and her family from Gaza to Wurundjeri Land' (Melbourne). 'Finally, against all odds, Tess has visas approved.' In a now-deleted post, Ms Zahed shared a photo of terrified Nova music festivalgoers fleeing for their lives alongside a picture of refugees fleeing the 'Nakba' or catastrophe in 1948 which established the state of Israel and saw the mass displacement of Palestinians Mr Chun and his partner have helped raise almost $29,000 for Mona and her family. The artist also celebrated the Hamas terrorist attacks, sharing a picture of the Palestinian flag with the title 'land back.' The caption read: 'Power to the freedom fighters. Death to the occupation. Resistance by any means necessary. Liberation from the River to the Sea.' This comes just weeks after Prime Minister Albanese welcomed a report from Jillian Segal, the government's special envoy to combat antisemitism, which recommended screening visa applicants for anti-Semitic views. Opposition Home Affairs spokesman Andrew Hastie said that if Ms Zahed had been granted a visa, it represented 'yet another immigration failure by the Albanese Labor government.' 'Any person that shows support for a terrorist organisation should not be granted a visa to Australia,' he said. 'If a visa has been granted, Tony Burke must immediately explain why, under his watch, an individual who celebrated the October 7 terrorist attack has been allowed to enter our country.' The Daily Mail approached the Department of Home Affairs, which is responsible for granting visas, for comment.

David Lammy to host JD Vance as US vice-president arrives for UK holiday

David Lammy is due to meet US vice-president JD Vance amid ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine. The Foreign Secretary is expected to host Mr Vance on Friday at Chevening, his official country retreat in Kent, as the vice-president begins a summer holiday with his family in the UK. They will discuss UK-US relations in a bilateral meeting before being joined by their families. The pair are said to have developed a warm friendship, bonding over their difficult childhoods and Christian faith. Mr Lammy is reported to have attended Mass at the vice-president's Washington residence during a visit in March, and now plans to repay the favour with the stay at Chevening. Built in the 17th century, Grade I-listed Chevening was previously the home of the earls of Stanhope, before it was gifted to the state in 1959. It has traditionally acted as the foreign secretary's country residence, but the prime minister can nominate any of his cabinet colleagues to use the house. Friday's meeting comes at a time of persistent global uncertainty, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggesting an expansion of his country's campaign in Gaza and Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly preparing to meet Donald Trump in the coming days. The US and UK have found themselves at odds on Gaza, with Sir Keir Starmer's pledge to recognise a Palestinian state if Israel does not agree to a ceasefire drawing criticism from Washington. On Ukraine, Mr Trump said on a visit to the UK last month that he would bring forward the deadline for Mr Putin to agree a ceasefire or face higher tariffs to Friday. But speaking in the White House on Thursday, the US president would not commit to taking action when the deadline expires, saying only that it was 'up to' Mr Putin. Kremlin officials claimed that a meeting between the US and Russian presidents had been agreed and could take place as early as next week, despite Moscow showing no sign of relenting in its attacks on Ukraine. Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey urged Mr Lammy to use his meeting with Mr Vance to press for new American sanctions ahead of any meeting between the presidents. He said: 'We've been here before: Putin stalling and trying to curry favour with Trump through promises of a ceasefire – before rocking Ukraine with even more bombs. 'With his self-imposed deadline elapsing tomorrow, Trump needs to put his money where his mouth is and introduce the sanctions he promised on Russia. It would be a disaster if Trump lets himself be fooled by Putin again.' The vice-president and his family are also expected to visit Hampton Court Palace during their trip to the UK, the bulk of which will be spent in the Cotswolds.
