Jon Jones: Dana White gets things done, Francis Ngannou 'could very easily be back in UFC'
Jon Jones isn't ruling out the possibility of a Francis Ngannou return to the UFC.
Ngannou's departure from the UFC was far from amicable. He signed with PFL after failing to come to terms on a new deal with the UFC, departing as the reigning heavyweight champion. UFC CEO Dana White was recently asked about the possibility of Ngannou coming back, where he simply responded, "Probably not."
With current UFC heavyweight champion Jones (28-1 MMA, 22-1 UFC) continuously stating a title-unification bout with interim champ Tom Aspinall doesn't interest him, a potential fight with Ngannou, however, does. But is there a world where White re-signs "The Predator?"
"I think Dana gets things done," Jones said on the "Full Send Podcast." "I think business speaks before emotions. If Francis presents himself in a humble way, I think that he could very easily be back in the UFC."
Despite White and Ngannou's public rift in the past, Jones insists White wouldn't pass up on the opportunity if it was presented correctly.
"Absolutely," Jones said on the possibility of Ngannou returning to the UFC. "Dana White is one of the best sports minds in recent history for a reason, and money talks. Francis brings eyes, and I'm sure Dana will be interested. He can be stubborn. I think I'm an example. People, they grow and mature, and time changes things, and time heals all. There was moments in my career where I felt like Dana absolutely hated me. Now I feel he's a big advocator for me."

Sean Strickland: Khamzat Chimaev's extreme ground pressure may surprise Dricus Du Plessis

Sean Strickland wonders how Dricus Du Plessis will react to Khamzat Chimaev's dominant ground game. Du Plessis (23-2 MMA, 9-0 UFC) defends his UFC middleweight title against undefeated Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) in the UFC 319 headliner on Aug. 16 from United Center in Chicago (ESPN+, ESPN, pay-per-view). Strickland lost to Du Plessis twice by decision in title fights, and spent quite a bit of time training with Chimaev years ago at Xtreme Couture. The former middleweight champion thinks it'll come down to if Du Plessis can remain mentally unfazed from Chimaev's early onslaught. "Dricus has better standup than Chimaev, but Chimaev has pretty crazy grappling," Strickland told Red Corner MMA. "I've been training with these f*cking Dagi terrorists my entire life. I know how to get up from these guys. I can withstand the storm. I don't know if he's encountered that level of wrestling to where it might get him a little off guard. "But if he could handle it, get up, and work his way up – I mean, it's kind of hard because it was a long time ago, but Brad (Tavares) took him down and held him down, so it's like, he just really has to be ready for an extreme amount of pressure on the ground. If he can withstand that, he's going to beat him." Strickland says Chimaev is only capable of being the hammer, not the nail, in a fight. "He's like a soft man," Strickland said. "You take someone like Dricus, Dricus will f*cking die. That man doesn't give a f*ck. Chimaev wins off being a bad guy. 'I'm a bad, tough, scary f*cking terrorist.' If you look at everybody who he's fought, that pulls his card: 'All right, f*ck it – let's go.' Sh*t starts changing. I just think he's some kind of a bully. Nothing wrong with being a bully. It's a fight – be a bully. But it's like, if you're going to be a bully and somebody fights back, you better keep that same energy up."

Dominick Reyes: UFC champ Magomed Ankalaev and I are very similar, 'but I'm just better'

Dominick Reyes has got his mojo back ahead of his potential title eliminator vs. Carlos Ulberg. Reyes (14-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) takes on Ulberg (12-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) in a 205-pound UFC Fight Night main event on Sept. 27 from RAC Arena in Perth in Western Australia. Light heavyweight champion Ankalaev (21-1-1 MMA, 12-1-1 UFC) will run things back with Alex Pereira (12-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) in the UFC 320 headliner on Oct. 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. With Jiri Prochazka facing Khalil Rountree on the same card, Reyes admits he might have to wait for his shot if he gets past Ulberg. But having trained with Pereira before, Reyes prefers fighting Ankalaev – a matchup he likes for himself. "I'd much rather fight Ankalaev for sure," Reyes told Submission Radio. "Honestly, I feel like me and Ankalaev are very similar, but I'm just better. We have a very similar fighting style. I think it's almost the same, but he's a little bit more technical than I am in terms of patience, and I'm more willing to jump in the fire." Reyes admits he was surprised with Pereira's approach in his title loss to Ankalaev at UFC 313 in March. "I think it will be different in the sense that Alex actually had time off, and he's had time to better prepare," Reyes said. "He fought, what, four times in a year or something? I think him losing that fight made him have to dig in more. I think it will be a different fight. Alex has worked extremely hard, and he's very focused. "Don't get me wrong: Ankalaev is very good fighter. Alex looked lackluster in the last fight,, which is rare. He didn't pull the trigger, which is not very common for him. It could have just been Ankalaev's movement, and his threat of the takedown, kept Alex on his heels."

Is Micah Parsons serious about wanting a trade?

Six days ago, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons posted a public trade request. The next day, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones called BS on it being a real request. As we close in on the one-week anniversary of the making of the request, is it real? Although Jones shrugged at the trade request, Bobby Belt of 105.3 The Fan recently said that 'a lot of people around the Cowboys' believe it's not a bluff. 'I don't think it's lost, but it's in need of repair,' Belt said regarding Parsons's relationship with the team. 'The way things are currently, they want out. The Cowboys have to be the ones to extend the olive branch and say, 'Hey, we'll fix this.'' Belt said he spoke to agent David Mulugheta, who first raised with the team a desire to do a new deal for Parsons after the 2023 season. The Cowboys wanted to wait. Eighteen months later, they're still waiting. In the interim, of course, Jones came to the conclusion that a handshake deal was done. Parsons disagrees. Regardless, the two sides need to talk or nothing will get done. Which brings us back to the question of whether the Cowboys hope to kick the can until 2026, and to pay Parsons only $24 million in 2025. If that's what Jones wants to do, it makes sense to not be talking.
