'My Kerala' exhibition begins in Trivandrum and Thrissur as part of government's fourth anniversary
As the Pinarayi Vijayan government enters its tenth year, the "My Kerala" Exhibition Marketing Fair was inaugurated at the nishagandhi auditorium in Kanakkunnu, Trivandrum. Minister for general education and labour, V Shivankutty, called the fair a "gift for the people of Kerala" while addressing the audience at the launch event.
Over the past nine years, the Kerala government has undertaken an extensive development mission. The aim has been to not only transform the state's infrastructure and economy but also to enhance the standard of living for every Keralite. As the state government celebrates its fourth anniversary, minister Shivankutty highlighted that this fair stands as proof of the government's long-term and comprehensive vision of governance.
"This exhibition is not merely a display of government schemes and services, but a celebration of progress, growth, and the potential of our people," said minister Shivankutty. "It will remind us of our achievements and ignite the vision for a New Kerala in the years to come. 'My Kerala' is a mirror reflecting the evolution of our state," he added.
Minister for food and civil supplies, GR Anil, chaired the event and emphasised that in the past nine years, the Kerala government has turned many previously impossible projects into reality.

Kulgam op being wound up: Officials

SRINAGAR: The 11-day-long anti-terror operation in the forests of south Kashmir's Kulgam district was being wound up, with no contact having been established with terrorists in the past 48 hours, officials said Tuesday. 'There has been no exchange of fire since Saturday,' a senior Army official confirmed. A senior police official said, 'The operation has now entered a low-key, subdued phase. We cannot, however, say that it has been called off entirely.' Top military commanders and police officers had been monitoring the operation. This was one of the longest anti-terror operations in recent years. Two soldiers from the Army's elite counter-insurgency unit — Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, both from Punjab — fell to terrorists' bullets; one local terrorist was shot dead, and 10 security personnel were injured in the operation. The encounter broke out on August 1 in Akhal Khulsan forests when a joint team of security forces was conducting a cordon-and-search operation based on intelligence inputs about the presence of three to five ultras in the area. The combing party came under fire, triggering a gunfight in which one local terrorist was killed. The other suspects managed to escape, taking advantage of the thick forests and deep ravines, prompting one of the largest searches in the area, with security forces deploying drones for aerial surveillance. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The 5 Books Warren Buffett Recommends You To Read in 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo During the operation, intermittent firing and blasts were heard. The two Armymen were killed in a fierce gunfight on Saturday morning, taking the death toll of security personnel killed in anti-terror operations in J&K this year to 16 — three in Kashmir Valley and 13 in Jammu division, including three casualties due to Pakistani firing during escalated tensions between both countries following Operation Sindoor. After the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, security forces have so far killed 14 terrorists in Kashmir this year, including three top Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives linked to the Pahalgam attack who were shot dead in Srinagar on July 28.

Pakistan welcomes US designation of BLA, Majeed Brigade as terrorist entities

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday hailed the US decision to designate the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its suicide wing, the Majeed Brigade, as Foreign Terrorist Organisations (FTOs), a move seen as reinforcing Islamabad's own counterterrorism efforts and signalling renewed security alignment between the two countries. The US state department had announced the designation on Monday, adding the Majeed Brigade as an alias of the BLA and expanding sanctions, travel bans, and legal penalties for supporters. The decision imposes sweeping sanctions and is seen as underscoring a rare moment of US-Pakistan security alignment, arriving just as army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir engages in high-level talks in Washington. Pakistan's foreign office said it outlawed the BLA in 2006 and banned the Majeed Brigade on July 18, 2024. Both have been blamed for 'heinous' acts, including the March 2025 Jaffar Express hijacking, which killed more than 30 people, and the Khuzdar bus bombing, which claimed dozens of civilian lives. The US move came as Munir made his second high-level visit to Washington in two months, sparking speculation over expanded cooperation on counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, and regional stability. Security analysts say the designation reflects converging US-Pakistan interests in Balochistan, a province rich in minerals and home to the strategic Gwadar port. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Seniors are going crazy for these comfy, stylish, easy-on shoes Ultra-Comfortable Shoes Undo The BLA and Majeed Brigade have repeatedly targeted Chinese nationals, infrastructure, and projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in an attempt to derail investment and development. Pakistan has intensified military operations in Balochistan in recent months, killing more than 50 suspected militants linked to BLA splinter groups in Zhob, Kech, and Gwadar. Officials believe US backing will help choke off funding, disrupt safe havens, and counter online propaganda. For Islamabad, the US designation is more than a symbolic victory, it is a strategic opportunity to align international action with domestic priorities in its decades-long battle against insurgency.
