TGSO jail roster down 'temporarily'

Yahoo30-05-2025
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office sent out a press release regarding their online jail roster.
'The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office would like to announce to the community that our Inmate Roster and Warrants on our website will be down for maintenance temporarily,' said TGSO.
This press release came after a Conchovalleyhomepage.com reporter spoke to Lt. Levi Vance, who works at the detention center and handles jail records, and which he stated that a technical issue caused by an update to the software used to manage the online inmate roster prevented booking entries from being input into the system.
Lt. Vance reported that the issue was resolved 'around lunch' on May 29, but the online jail roster is back down.
TGSO also stated in the press release that they will turn off the inmate roster daily alert notifications and will resume when the roster is back online.
'We appreciate your patience, and we look forward to announcing the return of these features to the website soon!' said TGSO.

JD Vance Attacks Democrats Over Epstein Files: 'Did Nothing'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Vice President JD Vance has responded to criticism of the Trump administration's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case by blaming Democrats for doing "nothing for four years." "We know that Jeffrey Epstein had a lot connections with left-wing politicians and left-wing billionaires," Vance said in an interview with Fox News that aired on Sunday. "And now President Trump has demanded full transparency from this, and yet somehow the Democrats are attacking him and not the Biden administration, which did nothing for four years." Newsweek has contacted the vice president's office and the Democratic Party for comment via emails sent outside regular business hours. Vice President JD Vance attends a meeting in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, D.C., on July 14. Vice President JD Vance attends a meeting in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, D.C., on July It Matters The Trump administration has struggled for weeks to respond to the fallout from its broken promise to release more files from the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier and convicted sex offender who died by suicide behind bars in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. In a July memo, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI said no further disclosure in the case "would be appropriate or warranted." The announcement sparked a backlash from Trump's MAGA base, with many believing the files contain incriminating information about Epstein's wealthy and powerful friends. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for the release of additional records. While Trump has repeatedly sought to downplay the uproar and move on from it, his personal relationship to Epstein has received renewed scrutiny, and Vance's comments have only served to renew calls for the release of the records. What To Know In the interview on Sunday Morning Futures With Maria Bartiromo, Vance said: "I laugh at the Democrats who are now all of a sudden so interested in the Epstein files. For four years Joe Biden and the Democrats did absolutely nothing about this story." Vance also said, without elaborating: "Democrat billionaires and Democrat political leaders went to Epstein island all the time. Who knows what they did." As the interview aired and clips circulated online, social media erupted with renewed calls to "release the files." Some said Vance's remarks reinforced the need for the records to be released, with social media users questioning why the president was "protecting left-wing politicians and left-wing billionaires." In the interview, Vance also denied that Trump administration officials had met at his residence to discuss the handling of the Epstein case. CNN first reported that senior officials were to sit down for a dinner at Vance's residence last Wednesday to discuss the administration's handling of the case and the need to craft a unified response. The dinner was later moved to the White House following media coverage about the meeting, CNN reported. "We did meet at the White House yesterday, but not at the time they said we were going to meet and not about the subject they said we were going to meet about," Vance told Fox News. He continued: "We have a great FBI director and a great Department of Justice lead, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and we met to talk about how to ensure we have justice for the American people. We actually didn't talk about the Epstein issue at all." What People Are Saying Vice President JD Vance told Fox News: "What the president has said very clearly, because we've had other meetings about that, is that he wants us to be fully transparent and he wants the credible information out there. So we're working to compile the thousands and thousands of documents that are out there for full transparency." Bill Kristol, a conservative commentator and the director of Defending Democracy Together, wrote on X: "Fine. Release all the files. With victims and survivors' names and PII redacted. But no redactions of clients, enablers, and see-no-evil associates." Jon Favreau, a former Obama aide who co-hosts Pod Save America, wrote on X: "Donald Trump's name is in the Epstein files and @JDVance has been plotting with the AG and FBI Director to cover it up. Release the names! Democrats, Republicans, billionaires, or not. What are you afraid of, @JDVance?" Kevin Kruse, a historian, wrote on Bluesky: "The official White House line is now that those dirty Democrats must've been hiding some serious dirt about dirty Democrats in the Epstein Files and that's why the much more transparent Republicans won't release them now and uh Trump might pardon Maxwell too?" Nicholas Grossman, an international relations professor at the University of Illinois, wrote on Bluesky: "Why is Donald Trump protecting left-wing politicians and left-wing billionaires who associated with Jeffrey Epstein from justice? Why is he hiding that from the American people? What else must be in the Epstein files that he so badly wants to hide that he's protecting political opponents to do it?" What Happens Next The DOJ has asked federal judges to unseal exhibits shown and testimony given to the grand juries that indicted Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. The Trump administration is also weighing whether to release a transcript of Maxwell's recent interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, according to CNN and Fox News. Maxwell had been scheduled to speak before the House Oversight Committee on Monday but that has been postponed until after the resolution of her appeal before the Supreme Court. The committee has subpoenaed the DOJ for files in the investigation into Epstein and issued subpoenas for depositions with former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and eight former top law enforcement officials.

"There was no meeting at my house last night. There just wasn't," Vance told Fox News' Maria Bartiromo in an interview that aired on 'Sunday Morning Futures.' "We did meet at the White House yesterday, but not at the time that they said that they -- that we were going to meet and not about the subject that we -- they said that we were going to meet about," Vance said in the interview that was taped on Friday. "We actually didn't talk about the Epstein issue at all. That was never meant to be the subject of the meeting," he continued. Vance said the reports came from someone leaking a calendar entry in which they assumed that it was about Epstein. Vance reiterated that Trump has called for full transparency, and efforts are underway to compile documents. "On the Epstein issue, what the president has said very clearly, because we have had other meetings about that, is that he wants us to be fully transparent and he wants the credible information out there. So, we're working to compile the thousands and thousands of documents that are out there for full transparency," Vance said. Vance said he supported the decision by Rep. James Comer, chair of the House Oversight Committee, to subpoena Bill and Hillary Clinton in its investigation of the Epstein files. -ABC News' Kelsey Walsh Trump announced on his social media platform that he'll hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Monday to discuss crime in Washington, D.C. The president said that he has given D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser an opportunity to reduce crime rates but crime has gotten worse. "The Mayor of D.C., Muriel Bowser, is a good person who has tried, but she has been given many chances, and the Crime Numbers get worse, and the City only gets dirtier and less attractive. The American Public is not going to put up with it any longer," Trump said in his post. Contrary to the president's claim, Washington's Metropolitan Police Department's preliminary year-to-date crime rate comparison shows that crime in D.C. has decreased by 7% since last year, with violent crime down 26% and property crime reduced by 5%. 'I will take care of our cherished Capital, and we will make it, truly, GREAT AGAIN! Before the tents, squalor, filth, and Crime, it was the most beautiful Capital in the World. It will soon be that again,' Trump wrote. -ABC News' Kelsey Walsh Aug 10, 2025, 1:35 PM EDT Vance brushes off talk of 2028 ticket After Trump publicly suggested a Vance-Rubio ticket for 2028, the vice president shot down continued dialogue during an interview with Fox News' Maria Bartiromo, saying that Rubio and he are not focused on politics right now. "I saw Marco about a month ago. We just laughed at the whole thing, because neither one of us are focused on politics. We're focused on actually doing a good job for the American people," Vance said in the interview that aired on 'Sunday Morning Futures.' "If we do a good job, number one, that's the reward, in and of itself, that I will have made a big difference in the lives of our country for the last six months, the next 3.5 years. But if we do a good job, the politics will take care of itself," he continued. Despite Vance trying to navigate away from the topic, he did not dismiss the possibility of running for president in 2028 when asked. "I'm not going to break that news today, Maria," he said. "What I'm going to do is focus for the next year and a half on doing a really good job for the American people, winning the midterm elections in 2026. Then we can talk about politics after that." -ABC News' Kelsey Walsh Trump tells homeless to move out of DC As Trump traveled to his golf club outside Washington on Sunday morning, it appears someone in his entourage took photographs that the president shared on his social media platform of images of homeless encampments along his route. In a new post, the president noted that he will hold a news conference on Monday at the White House where he will discuss his efforts to ensure safety in Washington, D.C. "The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital," Trump said on social media. "The Criminals, you don't have to move out. We're going to put you in jail where you belong." His post also comes as he ordered an increase in law enforcement over the past weekend as part of his initiative and executive order to "Make the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful." Trump also stated that he believes this will be less challenging than managing security at the border. "Be prepared! There will be no 'MR. NICE GUY.' We want our Capital BACK," Trump continued. -ABC News' Kelsey Walsh

Vance: ‘We know' Epstein had ‘connections with left-wing' politicians, billionaires

Vice President JD Vance on Sunday accused the Biden administration of refusing to release files on Jeffrey Epstein because of the financier's connections to Democrats. 'We know that Jeffrey Epstein had a lot of connections with left-wing politicians and left-wing billionaires … Democrat billionaires and Democrat political leaders went to Epstein island all the time. Who knows what they did,' said Vance on Fox News' 'Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.' 'I laugh at the Democrats who are now, all of a sudden, so interested in the Epstein files. For four years, Joe Biden and the Democrats did absolutely nothing about this story,' he continued. The Epstein saga continues to be a political mess for the Trump administration, as the White House faces pressure to release files the president promised to unveil during his campaign. Trump and his allies continue to claim that they are being fully transparent in this process. Attorney General Pam Bondi has pushed for the release of the grand jury testimonies of Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. However, the Department of Justice (DOJ) reportedly told President Trump in May that his name appeared multiple times in the documents. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, also claimed that Bondi pressured her FBI agents to go through the files and flag the name of the president. 'Now President Trump has demanded full transparency from this, and yet, somehow, the Democrats are attacking him and not the Biden administration,' said Vance on Sunday. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) issued subpoenas to the DOJ and a number of high-profile former government officials, including former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to get to the bottom of this investigation. This came after a House Oversight subcommittee voted in a bipartisan manner to subpoena the DOJ to turn over all materials they had on Epstein. Moreover, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche met with Maxwell twice, but neither the audio nor a written transcript has been released to the public. Vance continues to defend Trump. 'The president has been very clear. We're not shielding anything,' said Vance in July.
