A CORONATION Street legend has addressed coming out of retirement 27 years after leaving the soap.
The 95-year-old star had a 26-year stint on the cobbles before leaving in 1997.

Actress Thelma Barlow - known to Corrie viewers as Mavis Wilton - has come out of retirement for a new film.
Titled Sleepless in Settle, the 22 minute film sees Thelma star as Barbara.
The character tries to find a romantic partner for her middle-aged son Alan (Graham Turner) - but with comedic hijinks along the way.
Speaking to Radio Times, Thelma addressed what tempted her to join the project.
It comes as the star's friend, writer/director Judy Flynn, created the part of Barbara specifically for her.
Thelma said: 'I was familiar with her work and knew it would be good.
"The characters are so well drawn, it was a joy.
"Good writing is easy to learn, there are some lovely lines that reminded me of when I joined Coronation Street.'
The premise sees Barbara worried that she has not got much time left on earth and scared her son will be left completely alone after her passing.
After watching hit film Sleepless in Seattle, she decided that she needed to find her son a nice wife to keep him company.

Unfortunately she gets a lot more interest than she was expecting and it's not long until he found out.
It's set in the North Yorkshire town of Settle, which the star moved to after she departed the award-winning serial drama.
The film was shot in three days, on location in Rye, East Sussex, with a small crew.
As for Coronation Street, Thelma's character Mavis was originally intended to be a one-off appearance.
She became a regular after impressing both viewers and producers - establishing a long-running partnership with Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox).
Following the death of husband Derek Wilton (Peter Baldwin), Mavis left Weatherfield to run a guest house in the Lake District.
Viewers may also recognise Thelma for playing Dolly Bellfield in BBC sitcom Dinnerladies.
She featured in all 16 episodes, spanning from 1998 until the show concluded in 2000.

Viewers will know that Asha began training to be a paramedic in 2023 and has been involved in some massive storylines, including the deaths of Mason Radcliffe and Craig Tinker. The hour-long episode, which will air on Monday, August 25, is set to highlight the pressure Asha faces as a trainee paramedic. As her twin brother Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) prepares to embark on a new chapter in India, Asha battles her inner demons, desperate to keep her true feelings hidden from her family. To ensure that this story has been told sensitively and accurately, Coronation Street has teamed up with The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC). 'Our charity supports the mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing of the UK's ambulance community, and it was important to us that this story was portrayed with sensitivity and accuracy,' Angie Crashley, Wellbeing Support Team Manager at TASC, said. 'Since the launch of the Ambulance Staff Crisis phoneline we have supported 1068 people in crisis or at risk of taking their own life, of those 15 were student paramedics.' Corrie recasts character for a second time in a year as new star begins filming
A young Coronation Street actor has departed the show, meaning another new face will soon join the cast. Carter-J Murphy joined the ITV soap as Harry Platt towards the end of last year. The character was born in 2016 and is the son of Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and villain Callum Logan. Callum was killed by Kylie Platt before Harry was born, and his body was buried underneath the annex at No.8. After Harry's birth, the body was discovered, and Sarah was hospitalised for postnatal psychosis, having believed that Callum was still alive. Carter-J has only played the role for a handful of episodes, as an amazing opportunity has seen the young star depart the show. It's said the actor has been cast in Matilda the Musical and due to the fact he couldn't juggle the tour and filming for Corrie, he has left. Prior to Carter-J playing Harry, twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes portrayed the role. Also according to The Sun, an actor called Josh has taken over the role, with his first scenes expected to air within the coming weeks. Carter-J made his screen debut in 2024 in the new Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man, playing a younger version of the singer himself. Another Platt family member was recast earlier this year, with a star called Grace Ashcroft-Gardner taking over the role as Lily Platt. The actress made her debut in a dramatic episode that saw Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) escape prison and storm Weatherfield High School in search of his daughter Joanie Michaelis (Savannah Pennington). As students realised what was going on, they went in search of safety in locked classrooms. Lily's cousin, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), ran through the corridor and arrived at the door Lily was on the other side of. Sam banged the door, desperate for Lily to open it but she was consumed with fear, meaning she completely froze. In the aftermath of this, Sam struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. The ordeal also reminded him of how his mother Natasha died. In 2022, Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) escaped from prison and went in search of revenge on Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). He pulled the trigger on a gun, believing he was shooting Leanne, but realised moments later that it wasn't her. Sam's mum Natasha later died in hospital. Newcomer Grace has taken over the role from young actress Brooke Malonie, who had played Lily since 2016.
