The Fantastic Four: First Steps post-credits scenes, explained
Here's everything you need to know about the end-credit scenes in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
They might be from a different Earth, but The Fantastic Four know a thing or do about tradition. Not only does The Fantastic Four: First Steps include a mid-credits scene, but there's also a fun surprise if you wait all the way until the end.
Like we mentioned, there is one mid-credit scene and another in the post-credits.
In a big surprise, we're suddenly sent four years in the future where we see Sue Storm reading to Franklin on the couch. As they finish up another read, she sets out to find his favourite book with the help of H.E.R.B.I.E., who actually has a really funny suggestion for the book that Franklin might want to check out next. She finds the book in the kitchen, but feels that something is off when she returns back to the living room. Sue activates her powers as she tries to see what is happening behind the TV that's in the middle of the room when we suddenly see Doctor Doom (!!!) playing with Franklin. While we don't see their face, we do see him sporting the iconic green cloak while holding their mask in their hand.
Immediately the screen goes to black and shows the words: 'The Fantastic Four Will Return in Avengers: Doomsday'
After getting our heart pumping with that big hint, we get a different kind of surprise for the post-credit scene. Throughout the entire film, we have heard about The Fantastic Four cartoon and even got to see some glimpses of it. But now, we got to see the whole opening theme song including a catchphrase from our favourite clobberin' hero. It might not be a huge look at the future of the series, but it is still a fun way to end a great film!
And, don't forget, The Fantastic Four were already featured in the post-credit scenes for Thunderbolts*, so we already know that a big link-up was going to happen. Hopefully we find out more real soon!

Why Was Pedro Pascal Recast in ‘Weapons'?
Pedro Pascal has been virtually inescapable this whole year. Everywhere you look in pop culture, he's there. It feels like he's starring in every movie possible. Well, everything except for Weapons. And that's not for lack of trying. As director Zach Cregger recalled in a recent interview, Weapons almost starred Pedro Pascal. Pedro was initially cast in Weapons in May 2023, right before the SAG-AFTRA strike began, but had to drop out after the strike put the film industry on pause for almost six months. 'Pedro Pascal's schedule threw us into turmoil,' writer-director Zach recalled in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. Pedro was forced to back out due to scheduling issues—he is, as previously stated, a very busy man—and other members of the original cast followed suit. 'This is what happens, right?' Zach said. 'The strikes delayed us, and then when you delay, people's schedules get conflicts, and then you're back at square one.' Other members of the original cast included Brian Tyree Henry and Renate Reinsve, both of whom ended up dropping out as well. 'I bear no ill will towards anybody,' Zach clarified. 'We just kept getting delayed and delayed. It's like a domino effect. So I had to start over again.' The only original cast member to appear in the final Weapons cast is Austin Abrams. 'That's my dude right there,' Zach told EW. The director may have lost Pedro to the strike—and to The Materialists, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, The Last of Us, and Eddington, to name a few—but he did gain a brand new cast of A-listers. The horror movie now stars Julia Garner as Ms. Justine Gandy, an elementary school teacher whose entire class disappears overnight, Josh Brolin as a father desperate to find his missing son (formerly Pedro's intended role), and Alden Ehrenreich as a local officer. Weapons hits theaters Friday, Aug. 8.

Your Fantastic Four Questions Answered, What You Want To Know Before You Go
Struggling to decide whether you should buy a Fantastic Four: First Steps ticket? Giant Freakin Robot is here to help. I used a combination of AI and my own clicking to survey the internet and collect the most common questions potential movie-goers ask about the movie. I've answered them here, in a fully spoiler-free fashion, to help you make your fantastic decision. Is Fantastic Four: First Steps Like The Other Marvel Movies? Fantastic Four was made by Marvel, but it is not a Marvel movie. It's a Fantastic Four movie, and that seemingly minor distinction is the most important thing about it. Fantastic Four has a totally unique style. It's set in an alternate universe with no connection to the existing Marvel universe. It has some humorous elements, but it's absent the Marvel jokes formula that we're all a bit tired of. Unfortunately, the movie ends with the line: Fantastic Four will return in Avengers: Doomsday. So it looks like the little bubble of uniqueness this first Fantastic movie exists in will be popped by Marvel in the future. For now, though, Fantastic Four is a fresh approach to superhero movies, free from the usual Marvel formula. Is Fantastic Four Woke? Fantastic Four is the first Marvel production in years to have no specific political or social agenda. It's set in an era that looks a lot like the 1950s, with all the innocence and joy people attach to that time in American history. It's about a traditional married couple and their family trying to do good things. That's it. No extra ideology. Is Fantastic Four Appropriate For Kids? Fantastic Four may be the most wholesome movie Marvel has ever produced. There's some intense action, but no gore of any kind, and the movie is careful to keep things very PG. I'm actually not sure why the movie has a PG-13 rating. In another time, this would have been a PG-rated film. If your kids are OK with fast action sequences, punching, and a little danger, they'll be fine watching Fantastic Four. Why Was Silver Surfer Gender Swapped? There are also comic book reasons fans could come up with, but the stronger reason is the narrative one. In context of the movie, Silver Surfer was changed from a man to a woman (played by Julia Garner) to create chemistry between her and Joseph Quinn's Johnny Storm character. The result is fantastic and one of the best parts of the movie. Are The Action Sequences Good In Fantastic Four? The movie features two big action scenes. The first is set in outer space, and it's a well put-together. The second involves yet another one of those battles in New York City, and it's not disappointing but it's also not re-inventing the wheel. Do I Need To See Fantastic Four In A Movie Theater? Yes, mainly for the score. Michael Giachino's score is a breath of fresh air in a world of superhero movies gone stale. To experience it, you must see Fantastic Four in a movie theater. Is Fantastic Four: First Steps Better Than The Older Fantastic Four Movies? Positioning statement: I enjoyed the two early 2000s Fantastic Four movies. I hated the other one. This is better than any previous attempt. The cast is superior in every way, and the plot is better constructed. The pacing is brisk and doesn't waste your time. The story is firmly rooted in family and individual character development. Marvel's new Fantastic Four is the best Fantastic Four, and it's no contest. Does Sue Storm Take Over As The Fantastic Four's Leader? This question is undoubtedly in response to a rumor that was circulating, which claimed the movie was about Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards character getting out of the way so that Vanessa Kirby's Invisible Woman character could go full girlboss. That does not happen in this movie. Reed and Sue Richards are a traditional married couple in the best sense of the term. They complement each other with different strengths and abilities. They work together as a team to accomplish their goals. However, Reed Richards is the clear leader of The Fantastic Four, and that never changes in this movie. Is There A Scene After The Credits In Fantastic Four? Yes, there are two scenes. The first Fantastic Four after-credits scene is set four years after the movie's events and shows the back of notorious villain Doctor Doom. The second is an extended version of the Fantastic Four cartoon footage shown in the film. Should I see Fantastic Four Or Superman? Both movies are good summer superhero films. If you're looking for something more wholesome, go with Fantastic Four. If you're looking for something a little more adult, you might try Superman. Lex Luthor is a better villain than Galactus, but also darker and more disturbing. On the other hand, Fantastic Four's style is more unique and interesting than Superman's. Is Fantastic Four: First Steps Worth Seeing? Yes, I recommend Fantastic Four for anyone who enjoys good superhero movies. Here's my star rating. Solve the daily Crossword

Superheroes Are Failing And It Will Save Movies
This is the summer that confirmed superhero movies are over. They'll still be around here and there, but they aren't billion-dollar money-making factories anymore, and it's the best thing that could happen to movie lovers. Superhero movies have dominated Hollywood for decades. The studio system has dedicated every dollar to making them, with the biggest possible budgets, the biggest stars, and all the money available for marketing. They did that because they made money, almost all of them. It's why we have movies like Venom, Shazam, Hancock, and Suicide Squad. These weren't big properties people were clamoring for, but they were superhero movies, so people went to see them. Because, like cowboy movies before them, people went to see all superhero movies. They cost a lot of money to make, and they made money in return. It was a no-lose formula. Money isn't infinite, though, so to do this, Hollywood had narrowed its investment focus. That meant someone pitching a new disaster movie idea that needed a big budget, probably wasn't going to get any money to make their vision. If you had an amazing idea to start a new action franchise, you probably weren't going to get the money for that either. It was all going to superheroes. So the audience hunger for superhero movies was satiated, Hollywood made a lot of money, but other ideas were shelved. It's been all superheroes all the time because they were seen as sure-thing profit machines. It's debatable whether that was ever true, but that was the perception. Now it's not. Superhero interest peaked with Avengers: Endgame, and it's been slipping since then. This year, the slide became more obvious. Four big superhero movies were released this year, and only Superman didn't underperform. Yet even Superman will end up only as a modest hit, and while Fantastic Four will make money, it won't make anything like historical Marvel numbers. Last year's results looked deceptively better because of the mega-money earned by Deadpool and Wolverine, but if you take that movie's crazy $1.3 billion box office out of the equation, it was largely a superhero disaster. Venom: The Last Dance | $478 million | $100 million Kraven the Hunter | $62 million Those failures last year were easily dismissed because they were all three objectively terrible movies. This summer is particularly noteworthy because Superman and Fantastic Four: First Steps, unlike most of the superhero films released in 2024, are both good movies. However, good reviews and good word of mouth have only been enough to earn them $500 – $700 million on budgets over $400 million. Superhero movies are no longer money-printing machines. They're like any other kind of movie again. That means Hollywood will likely go back to trying other types of movies. Variety made the 1990s one of the best decades of blockbuster cinema. With superheroes removed as obstacles, we could be in for another blockbuster renaissance. Like cowboy movies before them, superhero movies are done as an instant hit formula. Hollywood has lost its crutch, and movies are about to get awesome again. Solve the daily Crossword
