
Independence Day celebrations: Sindh CM announces programmes
Addressing a press conference here at the CM House on Wednesday alongside provincial ministers, the Chief Minister said that this year's celebrations will be in harmony with the theme 'Marka-e-Haq,' and the victory of this symbolic battle will be celebrated along with Independence Day.
He emphasized the need to instill a sense of pride among citizens for being part of a free nation and to make them understand the emotions of enslaved nations.
The CM stated that the federal government's economic progress program, 'Uraan Pakistan', will also be highlighted during the Independence festivities. 'We have made considerable progress in the economic sector over the past year,' he added.
Murad Ali Shah announced a decorations competition, stating that private buildings, vehicles, and cars with the best decorations will be awarded prizes.
He further announced that an Independence Day concert will be held at the National Stadium on the night of August 13 and 14, featuring a fireworks display. He shared the schedule of other celebratory events and said Independence Day event and concert will be organized at Rani Bagh Hyderabad on August 08 while another program would be organized in Sukkur on August 10.
The CM said a cultural float will be taken out from Sea view to Boat Basin.
He said a women's cycling rally would be organized from Karachi to Chaukhandi and Sindh Sports department would organize 114 events across the province.
A marathon and traditional dinkey cart race would also be held on August 10 from Sea View to Frere Hall and a cricket match between Mayor XI and Ministers XI (CM noted humorously he's not being allowed to play).
A cricket match between Qalandars XI and Bhitai XI at Moin Khan Academy would be held on August 9, where he will play for Qalandars XI. A boat race and concert would be held at Jehangir Kothari Stadium, CM said and claimed that Karachi will lead all cities in Independence Day celebrations and assured that the business community will receive full support from the government for their events.
He said the August 11 is being observed as Minorities Day, and the Minorities Department will organize a major event. Additionally, a separate large-scale event will be held for persons with disabilities, in which he himself will participate.
The Chief Minister announced an event on August 5 to protest against the revocation of Kashmir's special status. He also said that the event initially scheduled in March by the Chambers of Commerce will now be held in August.
Efforts will be made to hold vintage car and heavy bike rallies, women's fairs, painting competitions, and musical contests. A mushaira (poetry symposium) and a rickshaw rally are also part of the celebration plans, the CM said and added that a human flag will be formed, and citizens from all walks of life are invited to participate.
Murad Ali Shah urged the media to help awaken patriotic spirit in the nation. He directed the IGP and DIG Traffic to prepare a traffic plan and appealed to the public for cooperation. 'These rallies are for Pakistan. Please bear any minor inconvenience,' he appealed.
He also extended formal invitations to all political parties to join the celebrations, stating that official invitations will be sent to them.

To mark the occasion, the Punjab Arts Council Rawalpindi, in collaboration with the Information and Culture Department, Government of Punjab, has launched a series of events from August 1 to August 14. The celebrations include tree plantation drives, building decorations, illuminations with decorative lights, musical concerts, flag hoisting ceremonies, and cake-cutting events. As part of the festivities, a music show titled Sur Sangeet was held the other day, where young artists from the Rawalpindi Division showcased their talents. Performers included Ustad Azhar Shah, Wazir Ali, Ramiz Ishaq, Muhammad Daniyal, Majeed Manzoor, Sheikh Ahmad Shehzad, Waheed Uz Zaman, Sharon Khan, Dr Natasha, and Binesh Kiyani. The event drew a large audience, including civil officers, poets, and artists, who warmly praised the performances.

Dubai to hold Pakistan Independence Day celebration on August 10
Dubai is set to celebrate Pakistan's 78th Independence Day on August 10, expecting to bring together more than 40,000 members of the Pakistani community at Expo City, reported Gulf News on Monday. Sahir Ali Bagga, singer and composer, Natasha Baig, Sufi-rock artist from Hunza and Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, poet and visual artist, are set to perform at the event. Pakistani film star Humayun Saeed and former national cricket team captain Sana Mir are also slated to attend. Organised by Emirates Loves Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), the event titled 'Jashn-e-Azaadi Pakistan 2025' will be held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City. The event will take place from 11am to 11pm, offering a full day of cultural activities, entertainment, and community engagement, added the report. UAE assures full cooperation on easing visa process for Pakistanis The event is set to highlight the richness of Pakistan's culture, heritage, and artistic traditions. Organisers describe the celebration as a tribute to Pakistan's past, present, and future, and a day of unity for the UAE-based Pakistani community. Guests in attendance are slated to include: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence; Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE; Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan; and Dr Faisal Ikram, PAD President. It will also comprise of an awards ceremony where prominent Pakistani individuals and community leaders will be honoured for their contributions. The awards will be presented by Sheikh Nahyan. Sindh CM hails Lyari's young footballers for winning Norway Cup 2025
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Monday congratulated Lyari's youth football team, Better Future Pakistan, on winning the prestigious Norway Cup 2025 (Boys U-15 category), calling the victory a proud moment for the entire nation. In a statement issued from the Chief Minister's House, Shah said the young footballers from Lyari have 'brought glory to Pakistan and Sindh on the global stage' and that 'they are our identity and our pride.' 'The Sindh government is committed to ensuring national recognition for these young heroes,' he added. Better Future Pakistan, a team of young footballers from Karachi's Lyari neighbourhood, made history by defeating Danish club KFUM Oslo by 2-1 in the U-15 final of the Norway Cup, one of the world's largest youth football tournaments. The final was played in Oslo on Saturday. The team remained undefeated throughout the tournament, displaying exceptional teamwork, discipline, and resilience. The victory is being hailed as a milestone achievement not only for Lyari, long known as the hub of football in Pakistan, but also for the country's grassroots sports development.
