Adam DeVine Said Zac Efron 'Ghosted' Him After Calling Him 'Out Of The Blue' To Ask If He Could Crash At His House, And People Are Weirded Out

Buzz Feed04-04-2025
Adam DeVine appeared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast this week, and he wound up recalling a bizarre interaction with fellow actor Zac Efron.
As you might recall, Adam and Zac starred together in the 2016 comedy film Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, alongside Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza.
But the on-screen brothers have seemingly drifted apart recently, with Adam claiming on the podcast that for the first time in a couple of years, Zac called him about six months ago to ask a favor.
Adam said, 'Zac calls me — hasn't called me in a couple years — and calls me out of the blue. He's on some private island somewhere, and he's like, 'Hey man, I just want to let you know that I miss you.' And I'm like, 'I miss you too, dude. You're a good friend of mine, yada, yada.'''
'He's like, 'You still have that place down by the beach?' And I'm like, 'I do.' And he's like, 'Would it be cool if I came and crashed with you for two weeks?' And I'm like, 'Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, come stay with me,'' Adam said.
'And he's like, 'All right, I'm going to call you tomorrow to get all the details, and then I'll be there early next week, OK?' And then you'll send me the address and all that,'' Adam added.
Adam then said that he told his wife, Chloe Bridges, that they were set to have some company for a while. 'I'm like, 'Chloe, I think Zac's going to come live here for a couple weeks. I don't know.' And she's like, 'OK, yeah, I guess so,'' he recalled.
However, Adam said that Zac never showed up — and never explained why. 'And then he ghosted me, dude. Never called back. I even texted him like, 'Are you gonna stay here?' And I haven't talked with him since, so I have no idea, dude, no idea,' he claimed.

Reacting to Adam's comments online, several people were pretty weirded out by the entire thing.
'Weird ass thing to do by Zac. Obviously disrespectful but man. How do you go from asking to stay with someone to basically ignoring them with nothing in between lol,' one person wrote.
'This is a really weird story,' someone said, while another user added, 'Zac seems like such a wildcard lol.'

Were Carrie Bradshaw and Her Friends the Last Nice Rich People on TV?

There is a provocative synchronicity to the fact that the 'Sex and the City' franchise has come to its conclusion at such a pivotal moment in the life of New York, as a lightning rod mayoral candidate vows to return the city to the working class. In its long-running fantasia of Manhattan life, even those who served the domestic agendas of the rich managed to live quite enviably. The final season of 'And Just Like That …' (which aired its last episode on Thursday night) introduced us, for example, to Adam, Carrie's landscape architect and deep-in-the-mulch gardener who lives in a rent-stabilized artist's loft bequeathed to him by his dead hippie mother and the since vaporized generosities of New York City housing policy. Visiting Adam for the first time, Seema, the chauffeured-everywhere real estate mogul who falls for him, is pleased to discover that against all prediction, he lives in a Dwell magazine shoot. I have been an unabashed fan of the series since the first of its three seasons arrived in 2021, overlooking the St. Pauli Girl costuming and dismissing contradictory strains of criticism. On the one hand, we have been told that the show was overwrought in its realism, shepherding the characters — absent Samantha, though with new additions — through too many fun-sucking challenges and indignities of later middle age. On the other hand came complaints that the story lines were not nearly realistic or relatable enough, given all the money floating around. Older now, the women seemed richer than ever. And yet there was a transparency to the sequel that the original series refused. A clear through line existed now to Carrie's checkbook, an understanding of how she funded her extravagances — among them, in this new turn, several floors of a townhouse on Gramercy Park. She was no longer inexplicably acquiring hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of clothes via the irregular earnings of a freelance writing career but rather as the widow of a fantastically wealthy Wall Street guy who willed her just about everything. That these women lived with money but not for it is surely one of the ways they have endeared themselves to so many for so long. The new series had Miranda, top of her Harvard Law School class, having abandoned a partnership at a white-shoe firm to practice human-rights law. This season she moved into a prettily appointed but still modest apartment — small enough that the dining table is what you see when you walk in the front door. The finale rolls out over a Thanksgiving set at that table, an event that allows for the desecration of some of the show's surface perfection. Miranda has invited her son's pregnant hookup, who brings two ungracious friends committed to their reverse snobberies and not at all remorseful when one of them causes an incident in the bathroom that nearly requires Hazmat suiting. Who Is Naomi Scott? All the Details on Adam Scott's Wife

The Emmys are incoming and—if my manifesting worked—Severance will be taking home several awards. The series is nominated for 27 Emmys this year (the most of any show), which means the entire cast will be on the carpet—plus their plus ones, which brings us to Adam Scott. And i you, too, found yourself forming a random parasocial attachment to Adam thanks to Severance, it's probably time for a deep dive on his wife Naomi Scott and their verrrrrry cute relationship. Adam and Naomi are one of the rare Hollywood couples that actually last, and they've been going strong for a quarter century. The pair met at a bar in 1998 and married in 2005, going on to have two kids named Graham and Frankie. Adam and Naomi mostly keep their kids out of the spotlight, but Adam shouts his wife out on Instagram all the time. Also can we talk about the time he told Us Weekly "I just love [Naomi]. I think she's the coolest, the smartest, the funniest, and the most beautiful. It's pretty I just hope that she still likes me most of the time. It's worked out, and I'm really, really lucky, but I just can't imagine anything else. I'm just lucky." I can't. Also, sorry, have more cute posts to share: Naomi was a producer on Fun Mom Dinner and Other People, and she and Adam also have a production company named, incredibly, Gettin' Rad Productions. Adam and Naomi spoke to Vulture about working together, and he noted that she "can really put things into slots and make things work." Meanwhile Naomi said, "I was looking around and saying, 'So many people want to work with you,' and I helped put all those pieces together to actually make something." Naomi also told Movablefest, "We've been together for a long time, so part of that is our tastes now have blended. They were pretty similar to start with, but now the things that make me laugh, make him laugh and vice versa." Anyway, here's one of their red carpet interviews in case you're interested in vibes (they're impeccable). "I started at Jimmy Kimmel Live. I was there for the first year; I was an assistant there and then ended up being a producer on that show. That was my foray into producing," Naomi told SAG Indie. "It was really fun though. We had some great people who had worked on Letterman, including our executive producer and the head writer, so there was a feeling that anything could happen and it had that kind of feel to the show. So even though that piece was short-lived, it was great and we all learned huge lessons in a short amount of time." Adam told Us Weekly, "They're teenagers now so actually Severance has really connected with them. They love it. It's the first time they've ever been interested at all in something I've done, at least that they've admitted to me. I can't imagine that they're keeping a secret that they're secretly fascinated by my work and not telling me about it. But they really do love it. I think they just never wanna watch anything I'm in because they get enough of me at home. They're 13 and 15, and I think the last thing they wanna do is something [like] that. But I do know that they're both really, really incredibly smart, hilarious, caring people, and that's all that I care about."
