Soft play centre with laser tag and cafe nominated for award
A soft play centre with laser tag and a cafe has been nominated for an award.
Party and Play Funhouse in Westhoughton is one of the 10 finalists in our Bolton News Best Family Indoor Entertainment award.
The business has served the town for over 15 years, offering both indoor and outdoor play centres, as well as parties, private events and laser tag.
It also has an inhouse cafe, which offers party food, cafe treats and tasty snacks. It was also recently awarded a five star Food Hygiene Rating.
Centre assistant Tracey Davies said: "We are one of the largest soft play centres in the Bolton area. We have indoor and outdoor play areas and a sensory studio for babies under 12 months.

"We do laser tag, which we use the play frame for, multi-level laser tag. The biggest thing that makes us stand out is our outdoor play space, you don't find that with most places.

She added that sustainability is a big part of the business, with solar panels having recently been installed and bamboo cutlery and paper straws at the cafe.
Tracey said: "We are really trying to do our best to cut down on our carbon footprint and make sustainability our priority.
"We also offer an online reservation booking system for the cafe so when it is quite busy, people don't have to stand around the edges waiting for a table."

Markarian Resort 2026 Collection
Alexandra O'Neill's resort lineup for Markarian is a potpourri of options that fit whatever definition of 'resort' her shopper may have. There's her usual cocktail-ready holiday options, these trimmed with luscious velvets and finished in sparkling brocades, and her styles meant for true holi-days—meaning warm-weather appropriate 'vacation pieces,' as she called them at a preview, which 'transition and have longevity throughout the season.' O'Neill knows how to make a good party dress. There's an abundance of women in New York—many editors at this very magazine—who would be happy to confirm that. But this lookbook offers plenty proof: A coquette-ish LRD (little red dress, naturally) in velvet is a standout, as is a black floor-length sheath that looks demure in front but reveals a low-slung tie and train in the back. Her usual tea-length options remain covetable and are true crowd pleasers, though it's nice to see O'Neill push into more niche territory with delightfully playful alternatives like a black carwash fringe moment. O'Neill has also been working on defining what Markarian daywear looks like; here she did so with a range of silky, wispy, easy frocks and an array of knits. The former are the more successful—they encompass the same elegance that defines her eveningwear. The season's throughline is a bouquet of jaunty florals in an abundance of fabrications and realizations. The reasoning behind this was O'Neill's longing for warmer weather while she was working on this lineup over the winter months. She watched the Apple TV+ show Palm Royale, she said, which 'is totally ridiculous but so good.' The show might have inspired the warmth—and foliage—in this collection, but its outlandishness also comes through in its best look: a dress made of tons of tiny light-blue sequined circles finished with pink embroidery around them—they looked like bubbles or even snow globes. Funky and frisky yet totally appropriate, it was the just-right meeting point between O'Neill's winter holiday dressing and summer vacation-wear.

Rita Ora releases new single Heat with music video shot on Miami beach
Singer Rita Ora has released her new single Heat along with a music video shot on a Miami beach, describing the record as 'special' to her. The 34-year-old, who is best known for songs such as Hot Right Now, How We Do (Party) and I Will Never Let You Down, released the track ahead of a performance at World Pride Music Festival in Washington DC. Speaking about the track, she said: 'Dropping Heat on the same day as my World Pride performance feels like the perfect way to kick off summer – it's such a special moment for me and for my fans who have supported me over the years. 'I'm obsessed with this track, and honestly, I just wanted to have fun with it. It's bold, cheeky, and totally drenched in golden, feel-good energy. 'For me, it's all about celebrating freedom, joy, being unapologetically yourself and owning who you are.' The single is accompanied with a music video inspired by photographer Martin Parr, directed by Justin Daashuur Hopkins, and looks at the everyday lives of Miami beach goers. Heat was produced by Peter Thomas, who has worked with Pink, Selena Gomez and Teddy Swims, who co-wrote the song alongside Leland, Michael Matosic, and Charli XCX collaborator Troye Sivan. Ora debuted Heat on stage in Miami while supporting Kylie Minogue on the US leg of her Tension tour – and the song will be part of her set at Capital's Summertime Ball on June 15 in London. Beginning her career in 2004, Ora has gone on to achieve four UK number one singles and one UK number one album. She has also made appearances in films such as Fifty Shades Of Grey (2015), Southpaw (2015) and Pokemon Detective Pikachu (2019). In 2022, she married filmmaker Taika Waititi, who has directed movies such as Jojo Rabbit (2019) and Thor: Love And Thunder (2022).
