Chris Martin saves ‘oops' moment with Indian couple at Coldplay's Boston after US-Canada mix-up with witty comeback

On an unforgettable night at Gillette Stadium in Boston, Coldplay's "Music of the Spheres" tour took an emotional turn from headline-making kiss cams to an impromptu serenade featuring two fans from halfway across the globe. While most eyes were on the viral moment featuring tech executives caught in a compromising embrace, it was a young engaged couple from Mumbai who added warmth and sincerity to the Coldplay narrative.
Holding a sign that read, 'Just engaged, can we sing Magic together?', the Indian duo caught the eye of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. What followed wasn't just a performance, but a heartfelt exchange that would travel far beyond the stadium walls.
Chris Martin, known for his crowd connection, paused mid-show to welcome the couple on stage. What began as an exciting proposal to share a microphone soon turned into a wholesome stage moment. Martin first joked with them, asking twice if they were truly engaged "to each other," drawing laughs from the crowd. Then came the mix-up that launched a thousand comments. In his usual playful style, Martin welcomed the couple by saying, 'Welcome to Canada.' Realizing the slip, he quickly corrected himself, muttering, 'Oh no, we're not in Canada. Sorry.' With a self-deprecating smile, he added, 'We're in America, where it's slightly more complicated,' cracking an immigration joke that was met with roars of laughter. Martin, clearly mortified but still in good humor, quipped that it was his first such mistake in 26 years. 'Please, for the love of God, don't put that on YouTube,' he pleaded jokingly, fully aware the clip was already making its way online. Of course, the moment did end up on YouTube — and became an instant fan favorite.
The adorable engagement moment was a welcome distraction from another incident that had already overshadowed the Boston concert. Just before the Mumbai couple took the stage, the stadium screens had caught Andy Byron, CEO of the $1.3 billion company Astronomer, in a seemingly intimate moment with his colleague Kristin Cabot. Their uncomfortable reaction to the Kiss Cam — hiding their faces and avoiding the spotlight — quickly spiraled into a viral controversy.
Social media users soon linked Byron to his wife, educator Megan Kerrigan Byron, and speculated on their relationship status after noticing changes to her Facebook name. The gossip mill spun further, but no official statement was released by the company or the individuals involved.

'Don't get caught': Tesla, IKEA and several other brands recreate Coldplay's viral clip of Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot

The internet's latest obsession, an awkward 'kiss cam' moment featuring Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR Chief Kristin Cabot at a Coldplay concert has garnered massive attention — not just from netizens but also from several top brands. What began as a cozy moment between the two colleagues, captured by the concert's kiss cam and magnified by Coldplay's lead vocalist, Chris Martin's playful commentary has now inspired a wave of cheeky corporate homages. Global giants like Tesla and IKEA are leading the charge, cleverly fitting the 'Don't get caught' narrative into their own marketing campaigns, proving that even an HR-adjacent scandal can be turned into marketing gold. Several other companies have also used the 'kiss cam' scandal to their advantage and released some hilarious advertisements of their products. Furniture retail brand, IKEA posted a picture of a stuffed panda hugging an orangutan from behind, mimicking the 'viral colleagues' on their Instagram page. The caption read, "Don't get caught... without these! Drama-free cuddles guaranteed." The phrase "HR approved" was placed in the image. On the other hand, Elon Musk-owned brand Tesla posted on X, humorously stating 'Posting a pic of you enjoying your loaner Tesla while your own one is in service is the equivalent of taking it to a Coldplay concert. Your car will know.' Tesla's post Frido, a popular pillow and mattress company, photoshopped Andy Byron onto their cuddle pillow with the caption, 'Bro could've just used our Cuddle Pillow and avoided all that embarrassment.' Frido's post Even airlines did not miss out on the trend as Private jet charter service GlobeAir reposted the viral clip by adding a twist. "The quickest escape after a Coldplay concert," the text read, featuring a Boston-to-Hawaii escape. While most of the comments on the brands' marketing campaigns have been full of jokes and praises for the companies' marketing teams, some also showed concern about humourising a serious incident of adultery and broken families. Commenting on the Frido's satirical post based on the viral incident, an X user said, 'You and your team should be ashamed of this,@ganeshunwired. It's a new low, taking someone's personal life to hawk a product.' Another user commented, 'Pathetic to make fun of someone's relationship to sell your stuff.' The Astronomer CEO Andy Byron faced widespread backlash after a video involving him with his colleague, Kristin Cabot went viral. In the footage, he was seen sharing an intimate moment with the company's Human Resources (HR) head in a Kiss Cam segment during a Coldplay concert, despite being married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, who has mostly avoided social media after the 'work affair' surfaced. Kristin Cabot is the Chief People Officer of Astronomer and also reportedly married to a separate person named Andrew Cabot, who is a Harvard graduate.
