Douglas County child recovering after he was mauled by dogs

An 11-year-old Douglas County boy is recovering after being attacked by dogs Thursday evening.
'I saw six dogs coming straight at me,' said Jayden Floyd.
Douglas County Fire said the attack happened around 7:30 p.m. on Ponderosa Trace in Douglas County.
Floyd told Channel 2′s Eryn Rogers he and his older brother, Trey, were playing at their friend's house when the friend's dogs got loose. He said one was on his leg, so he pushed it away, and that is when the attack happened.
'I was trying to run away, then they got me on the ground, so I couldn't run away anymore,' Floyd said.
His brother, Trey, witnessed the entire ordeal. He said he saw a Pitbull latch on to his brother's arm and start going for his neck, so he jumped in to help.

'I was worried about him,' Trey Floyd said. 'I didn't care if they bit me.'
Trey did get bit. However, it was Jayden that suffered the most severe injuries. He has bite marks, bruises, and gashes on his legs and arms.
His parents said he had to get surgery and now has several stitches.
'He's feeling every tooth, every rip, every shred,' said Jayden's father, Cameron Floyd. 'As a parent, you don't think that's a reality that can happen.'
Cameron Floyd said neighbors rushed to help his son and wrapped him in blankets to keep him warm and stop the bleeding. He said EMS told him
Neighbors say the dogs have been causing issues for years.
They said Douglas County Animal Services has been called to the home before because the dogs have bitten or chased other neighbors.
'I don't fault the dogs as much,' Cameron Floyd said. 'It is learned behavior. It is training… It is knowing how to recall your dogs and knowing your dogs well enough to know they are going to have to be put up.'
The family said Animal Services is handling the case now. To their knowledge, they say three dogs were surrendered, and now they are waiting to see if the dogs will be able to come back.
'I hate that it happened to mine, but what if it happened to somebody else's,' Cameron Floyd said.
The county said they should have an update on the case in the coming days.

Georgia raid is state's largest fentanyl pill bust ever, federal agents say

Raids at a man's Atlanta and Douglasville residences found a 'massive' fentanyl pill pressing operation, the U.S. Department of Justice said Tuesday. Federal agents told Action News Jax's Atlanta station, WSB-TV, that it is the largest fentanyl pill operation ever found in Georgia. Law enforcement agents said the operation uncovered a total of 93 kilograms of fentanyl, along with a stockpile of other drugs and guns, including a machine gun. 'This armed felon allegedly ran a massive fentanyl pill pressing operation in our community, producing enough deadly fentanyl to potentially kill millions of people,' said U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< Bartholomew Keeton Harralson, 47, of Atlanta, was charged by a federal grand jury with possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and marijuana, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 'The scale of this fentanyl operation - run by a convicted felon - posed a grave threat to our community,' said Paul Brown, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta. 'The presence of high-powered firearms alongside industrial pill-pressing equipment underscores the deadly convergence of drug trafficking and violence.' Officials executed search warrants Thursday at both locations, and Haralson was arrested at his Atlanta residence. In addition, law enforcement said they found two large pill press machines capable of pressing up to 25,000 pills per hour, three hydraulic presses used to form kilogram-sized bricks of narcotics, as well as a book titled 'How to Avoid Federal Drug Conspiracy & Firearms Charges.' Duluth police officer commended for rescuing 4-year-old girl from pool while off duty

A Duluth police officer who was relaxing at a pool while he was off duty sprang into action to rescue a 4-year-old girl. The girl's mother told police that her daughter, who typically wears 'floaties' while swimming, jumped into the pool without them on Sunday. Officer Preston Marsh noticed the girl struggling and ran about 25 yards across the pool deck and jumped into the water to save her. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Her mother told police, 'It was only the sound of his feet on the concrete that alerted me and the other adults to anything happening. I truly don't know what would have occurred had he not been on high alert and jumped in to save my sweet four-year-old.' Police said Marsh downplayed the act as something any parent would do, but Chief Jacquelyn Carruth said in a statement: 'When you truly have a heart to serve others, as police officers do - it doesn't 'turn off' when you clock out for the day. This incident is a shining example of Officer Marsh's dedication to public safety and yet another example of the outstanding work being done by our officers both on and off duty. I am very proud of the actions Officer Marsh took in order to save the little girl's life.'
