Flooding in Upper Saucon Township, Pennsylvania, prompts multiple rescues, property damage
Mary Klingman has lived in Center Valley, a community within the township, for 25 years, and said she has never seen flooding to this degree.
The National Weather Service says 6 inches of rain fell in Center Valley on Monday.
As the storm moved through, water filled her front yard and then her backyard, which ultimately overwhelmed her koi pond. Tuesday morning, she went out with a fishing net and a bucket.
"I caught the big koi and five more, but in my adventure last night, there was one laying in the driveway, one laying on the sidewalk and three in the grass that I found that weren't in water, but they all survived," Klingman said.
Klingman said she has water damage in her basement and garage.
Upper Saucon Township's emergency management coordinator said Route 309 took the brunt of the flooding. He said five cars were disabled there, and first responders made three water rescues.
There was minor property damage reported in the township, he added, but no injuries or deaths. He thanked the local and state mutual aid partners for their help.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his condolences to the families of the deceased and called on the defense and public security ministries to conduct urgent search and rescue. Authorities would "investigate and clarify the cause of the incident and strictly handle violations", a statement on the government website said. Torrential rain also lashed northern Hanoi, Thai Nguyen and Bac Ninh provinces on Saturday. In the capital about 175 kilometres (110 miles) away, several trees were knocked down by strong winds. The storm followed three days of intense heat, with the mercury hitting 37 degrees Celsius in some areas. Mai Van Khiem, director of the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, was quoted in VNExpress as saying that the thunderstorms in northern Vietnam were not caused by the influence of Tropical Storm Wipha in the South China Sea. Ha Long Bay is one of Vietnam's most popular tourist destinations, with millions of people visiting its blue-green waters and rainforest-topped limestone islands each year. Local nonprofit provides donations to thousands hurt by Texas floods
(WHTM) — After the devastating floods that left thousands displaced in Kerr County, Texas, one Cumberland County nonprofit is helping in the recovery process. Mission Central of Mechanicsburg has been donating to those affected by disasters nationwide since 2002. Today, they packed a truck with 900 sanitation buckets, looking to assist in cleaning and laundry, as well as 2,000 menstrual hygiene kits. Executive Director Hope Harrison says the most important part of disaster relief is listening. 'For us, it's very important that we wait until they get to the ground and find out what the needs actually are, and so right now those 3 things are the biggest needs,' said Harrison. 'As time moves on, we'll hear more disaster relief, we're gonna hear more, and it will change.' The truck is expected to arrive in Texas tomorrow. Extreme heat expected this weekend in South Florida could cause health risks to some
The NEXT Weather Team is tracking a scorching weekend across South Florida. While we will not be expecting a Heat Advisory, we will see heat indexes of 100-105 throughout the day on Saturday. Those triple digit "feels like" temperatures will return on Sunday. A high-pressure system moving across Northern Florida is driving away any chance we have of rain this weekend. The heat indexes will peak around noon on Saturday and last through the early evening hours and will not "cool-down" until after midnight. It's important to stay hydrated, limit outdoor afternoon activity and wear light-colored clothing. You're also encouraged to check on your senior relatives and neighbors who are extremely susceptible to the heat.
