Chhattisgarh accident: 4 burnt alive in car crash; youths under influence of alcohol, say eyewitnesses
According to police, six youths were travelling in a Swift Dzire car.
The group was heading towards Kanker when the car reached a diversion near an under-construction bridge.
Eyewitnesses say the car was moving at high speed, and the driver lost control, crashing into the bridge's railing. The impact triggered a fire, trapping four of the youths inside the vehicle.
Two others managed to escape the flames, but sustained severe injuries.
They were immediately rushed to the district hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Preliminary reports suggest the youths were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, police said. Witnesses also confirmed signs of intoxication among the victims.
Among the six victims, five were reportedly from Kondagaon district, while one hailed from Kanker. The group had ventured out late at night for a drive.

The case surfaced after a video circulated on social media showed 18-year-old Parvesh Sharma allegedly firing a weapon during panchayat election celebrations on the night of June 16-17. He was booked under Section 288 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 25(9) of the Arms Act, 1959, and later granted bail. NEW DELHI: The family of Ranjit Singh, a senior safety officer from Jammu and Kashmir abducted during a terror attack in Niger's Dosso region, has appealed to the Indian government for urgent intervention to secure his safe return. Singh, a resident of Chakka Kundi village in Ramban district, was working for Transrail, a transmission line company, when he was taken hostage by unidentified armed attackers on July 15. In a tearful interview to ANI, Singh's wife, Sheila Devi, shared her anguish. 'My husband's name is Ranjit Singh. He works in Niger as a senior safety officer in a transmission lightning company called Transrail. On July 15, I tried to contact him, but since then there has been no communication,' she said. She recounted how, after failing to reach him, she contacted his company, only to learn of a terrorist attack at the worksite.
