Range Rover SV Black unveiled, gets all-black treatment
Land Rover has officially unveiled the newest addition to its flagship SUV lineup – the Range Rover SV Black, a model that redefines luxury and innovation for the modern elite. Set to be available for order in late 2025, this ultra-luxurious variant will join the existing SV Serenity and SV Intrepid, further enriching the Range Rover SV family with an all-black, deeply refined design theme and cutting-edge technology.
As the name suggests, the SV Black is going all-out with the Black theme. The exterior is finished in Narvik Gloss Black. Every detail—from the polished black grille and gloss black bonnet lettering to the bespoke 23-inch alloy wheels and subtly branded brake calipers— are now finished in black. At the rear, a ceramic SV roundel subtly signifies the vehicle's place in the ultra-premium SV portfolio.

Inside, the SV Black features an all-new Ebony Near-Aniline leather interior with minimal stitching for a clean, seamless aesthetic. Black birch veneers and satin black ceramic finishes, including on the gear shifter, complement the cabin's rich texture. Moonlight Chrome accents add a sophisticated gleam across the interior, elevating the tactile and visual experience.
One of the standout features of the SV Black is its debut of world-first Sensory Floor technology, enhancing Range Rover's existing Body and Soul Seat (BASS) system. This innovation allows occupants to not only hear but also feel the audio experience through synchronized vibrations in the floor mats, powered by transducers embedded in both the seats and the footwells. The thick-pile carpet encourages users to remove their shoes and immerse themselves fully in the experience.
The system includes six wellness modes such as 'Calm' and 'Invigorating', designed to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve cognitive alertness during journeys. This technology comes standard on all long-wheelbase SV models, including the new SV Black.

The Range Rover SV Black will make its global premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 10–13, 2025), alongside the newly revealed Range Rover Sport SV Black. Customers can expect to order the SV Black later this year in a choice of five-seat standard wheelbase or four- and five-seat long wheelbase variants, all powered by a potent 615 PS V8 engine.

JLR previously said that over 61,000 buyers were on the waiting list for the new Range Rover Electric. Over 16,000 buyers were registered in the first week of February 2024. The automaker's sales dropped 15.1 per cent in the last three months since June this year after a temporary pause in sales in the US, its biggest market. However, the delay could help not only improve its upcoming products but could also help JLR ride out the tariff-related delays. Sales are expected to improve once the US-UK's limited trade deal comes into place, providing 10 per cent lower tariffs on the first 100,000 exports. Future JLR EVs Could Be Delayed The delay could result in JLR delaying its future projects. This includes the electric Range Rover Velar, which is slated to commence production in April 2026, while an EV under the Defender sub-brand is expected to start production in the first quarter of 2027. The upcoming Range Rover EV and Jaguar Type 00-based electric offering will be the first models built by the company itself. The company previously sold the Jaguar I-Pace as its first electric offering, but it was built by a contract manufacturer. The electric SUV will draw power from a dual-motor setup, one on each axle, and is expected to churn out about 550 bhp and 851 Nm of peak torque. JLR has told customers deliveries of the Range Rover Electric will not start until next year, the report said, while a source told the newspaper that Jaguar's first EV will start production in August 2026. Deliveries of the Range Rover Electric were originally supposed to begin late 2025. The models, which are the first electric models to be manufactured directly by JLR, required extended testing, which partly led to the delay, the report added. "Our plans and vehicle architectures are flexible so we can adapt to different market and client demands," the company said in a statement to Reuters, while maintaining that it would sell electric versions for all of its brands by 2030. The "Defender" SUV maker did not respond to any other details in the Guardian report. Earlier this month, the Tata Motors-owned automaker posted a 10.7 per cent drop in first-quarter sales, hit by a temporary pause in shipments to the US and a wind-down of the Jaguar brand's legacy models. Production of the Range Rover Velar's electric version, slated for production from April 2026, could also be delayed further, the report said. The company in June cut its target for earnings margin before interest and taxes for the fiscal year 2026 to 5 per cent-7 per cent, from 10 per cent, amid uncertainty in the global auto industry spurred by US tariffs.
