Early-morning West Side drive-by shooting leaves man dead

CHICAGO (WGN) — An early morning drive-by shooting on the West Side left a man dead and sparked a police investigation on Saturday.
The shooting unfolded around 3:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Fairfield Avenue in Little Village, Chicago police said.

According to police, the victim, a 36-year-old man, was outside in the area when a gray sedan approached before an individual inside the vehicle displayed a gun and opened fire.
The victim suffered at least two gunshot wounds amid the hail of gunfire and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following the shooting, officers said the person responsible fled the scene.
Offices said an investigation into the deadly shooting is now underway and the victim has not yet been identified.
