Lies of P leads August's lineup of PS Plus games
The headliner is undoubtedly Lies of P , the surprisingly great Pinocchio-flavored soulslike from 2023. South Korea-based studio Neowiz's twisted take on the oft-reimagined children's novel stood out in what is now an overwhelmingly crowded genre, thanks to its stylish Belle Epoque-era setting and slick combat. There aren't many better FromSoft tribute acts around. The post-apocalyptic survival game DayZ launched on PS4 with not-exactly-glowing reviews in 2019, but is still getting fairly regular updates in 2025. Meanwhile, 3D arena fighter My Hero One's Justice 2 is worth checking out for fans of the My Hero Academia manga on which it's based.
As it continues to mark 15 years of its Game Pass -rivalling subscription service, Sony has announced that from August 5, members can download a set of anniversary avatars. Themed around the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 , Hogwarts Legacy , Diablo IV and God of War Ragnarok , as well as cult retro favorite Twisted Metal , these are also available to subscribers on all tiers.
As for last month's games, you have until August 4 to add Diablo IV , The King of Fighters XV and Jusant to your game library.

PlayStation Plus just added three amazing games you need to play this weekend (August 8-10)
I go back and forth almost every month debating whether or not the PlayStation Plus Essential or Extra games added to PS5 are better. The fact that I can never decide is a great problem to have, but I have a hard time believing that the Extra games will be able to hold a candle to what PlayStation has given us here. It isn't new, but getting access to one of 2023's best games of the year, which recently got a meaty piece of DLC, is reason enough to clear your weekend plans. Even if you're not a soulslike kind of player, the other options are just as exciting for different audiences. That's enough teasing, so let me dive right into these amazing PlayStation Plus games you need to play this weekend. Lies of P The big title this month is the hit soulslike that, to some, even surpasses FromSoftware's efforts. I'll leave that up to you to decide for yourself, but the fact that it is even a discussion should tell you that Lies of P is doing something special. This is a dark reinterpretation of the old Pinocchio story, where you play as a puppet in a world where all the other puppets have gone mad and started rampaging through the city. Combat is closer to a Bloodborne than a Dark Souls, meaning it encourages aggression and dodges rather than turtling behind a shield. The atmosphere and world are absolutely stunning, and the team clearly saw the rough edges in FromSoftware's design and tried to smooth them over. Now that it also has difficulty options, everyone should give it a shot. Recommended Videos Lies of P is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. DayZ Last week I suggested World War Z as an alternative zombie shooter, but that game doesn't have the same intense survival vibes as DayZ. This game, which has its origins as a mod, is wildly influential for both survival games and helping inspire the Battle Royale genre. You will be dropped into a huge map filled with other players and NPC zombies to scavenge for loot in an effort to survive. You'll need to find food, water, weapons, and medicine while trying to avoid zombies and other players who are looking to take all your stuff. If you've played PUBG before, imagine that, only there are hordes of zombies around the map. It is hardcore, unforgiving, and incredibly addictive. DayZ is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. My Hero One's Justice 2 For all you anime fans out there, PlayStation has you covered this weekend with a fun romp with the cast of My Hero Academia in My Hero One's Justice 2. Look, I'm not going to overhype this game because it is average at best as a game. But, for a fan of the anime/manga who wants to see some awesome fan service (not that kind) and smash your favorite characters against each other like a kid playing with toys, this game nails it. The combat system is more flashy than deep, which makes it an ideal game to snag for free to play for a weekend and then uninstall. I do wish we would get better anime games in general, but this one is at least cool to look at and mess around with. My Hero One's Justice 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Ozzy shared the post on Twitter nearly four years ago alongside a photo of himself with Sharon. At the time, Sharon shared, 'Our relationship at times was often wild, insane and dangerous but it was our undying love that kept us together. We're thrilled to partner with Sony Pictures and Polygram to bring our story to the screen.' She will produce the film along with their children Jack and Aimee Osbourne, as well as Polygram's Michele Anthony and David Blackman and Sony's Andrea Giannetti. During an episode of The Osbournes Podcast in 2024, Ozzy shared a blunt update on the progression of the film. 'By the time they finish this film, I'll be dead,' he said. 'I wanna be alive to fucking see it.' Sharon added, 'Movies take forever to make.' The musician died on July 22 at the age of 76. Jack noted that the film is expected to span their relationship between 1979 and 1999. The family debated which actors should play the leading roles, with Sharon expressing interest in Florence Pugh and Kelly noting that her father should be played by 'an unknown actor who is very good,' adding, 'I don't think there's anyone you could think of now who would be able to do it.' Jack pitched Bill Hader for the role, but received a swift 'Fuck off' from Ozzy in response. No Escape From Now, an upcoming documentary about Ozzy's health setbacks in recent years and his desire to stage a farewell concert, will also still arrive later this year. Sony Developing ‘Spider-Punk' Film With Daniel Kaluuya
Source: Samir Hussein / Getty The Spider-Verse is expanding once again. This time, it's going punk. According to Deadline , Sony Pictures Animation is officially developing a new Spider-Man spinoff centered around fan-favorite character Spider-Punk, voiced by Oscar-winner Daniel Kaluuya in 2023's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse . Read more inside. Kaluuya is not only reprising his role as Hobie Brown, but he's also stepping into the writer's chair. The gifted talent will develop the film alongside Ajon Singh. Although plot details are still under wraps, the movie is expected to dive deeper into the backstory of Hobie Brown, the anarchic Spider-Man from an alternate British punk universe. Known for his radical style, rebellious spirit, and standout appearance in Across the Spider-Verse , Hobie quickly became a breakout star among audiences, stealing scenes with his magnetic presence and punk rock edge. We care about your data. See our privacy policy. Kaluuya's portrayal added depth and style to the character, turning Spider-Punk into an instant hit within the Spider-Verse franchise. While fans are eagerly awaiting more information, the announcement alone has sparked major excitement online as people anticipate what Kaluuya and Singh will bring to this spin on the beloved superhero story. In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse , Hobie was one of many variants helping Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) take on the film's multidimensional villain, The Spot (Jason Schwartzman). The film also introduced Spider-Woman (Issa Rae) and featured a tense standoff with Miguel O'Hara (Oscar Isaac), another Spider-Man variant who sees Miles as a threat to the multiverse's fragile balance. Spider-Punk will mark another bold step for Sony's Spider-Verse, which has proven to be one of the most inventive animated superhero franchises to date. The trilogy's final installment, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse , is currently slated to hit theaters on June 25, 2027. While fans wait for that epic conclusion, Kaluuya's Spider-Punk promises to deliver a fresh perspective. One that blends British punk ethos with the classic Spider-Man legacy. With Kaluuya's creative vision leading the charge, this project has the potential to push the Spider-Verse into daring new territory. No release date has been announced for Spider-Punk yet, but the revolution will be animated. SEE ALSO Sony Developing 'Spider-Punk' Film With Daniel Kaluuya was originally published on
