Michigan Legend Charles Woodson's Son Cracks National Recruit Rankings for 2027
Charles Woodson won the Heisman Trophy in 1997 on the strength of his three-way play on offense, defense and special teams.
The Ohio native led Michigan to a share of the 1997 National Championship as Lloyd Carr's team knocked off Ryan Leaf and the Washington State Cougars in the 1998 Rose Bowl.

On Thursday, Woodson's son was given recognition as part of the Class of 2027 from 247Sports.com, cinching the Lake Nona High School star from Orlando, Florida's standing as a prospect to watch in the near future.

"A very noteworthy entry into today's 2027 Top247? @2Charleswoodson," Steve Lorenz of 247 Sports wrote on Wednesday, tagging Charles Woodson, Jr., the son of Charles Woodson.
"He's the son of...you're not going to believe it, @CharlesWoodson."
Woodson, Jr. is now ranked as a four-star prospect by Lorenz's website after years flying under the radar.
The talented young Class of 2027 prospect is ranked 244th among all players nationally, 23rd among safety prospects.

His famous father has filled in as a coach this season at Lake Nona, lending his expertise to his son's team.
Michigan does not currently have any players in its 2027 class but Woodson Jr. has camped in Ann Arbor the last two summers.
Woodson, Jr. received his first major college offer from Syracuse coach Fran Brown earlier this year.

While that can be a subjective term at times, it does appear that the Buffaloes' coach is on the mend and is ready to get back to coaching the team. The dynamic coach helped Jackson State to two conference titles in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. After taking over the Buffaloes football program, Sanders also helped the team secure a 9-4 record in 2024 and was instrumental in both his son, Shedeur, and Travis Hunter getting drafted into the NFL. Hunter would go on to win the Heisman Trophy after exercising skills as an elite wide receiver and cornerback with the Buffaloes. Hunter thanked Sanders plenty when he won the award. Sanders is looking ahead to his third season helming the Buffaloes, but he must heal up first. The good news is the coach sounds like he will be ready to take the field again in the near future. On Jan. 4, 2006, Young's fourth-and-5 scramble in the waning seconds secured Texas' first national championship in 35 years, capping off a matchup between the nation's top two undefeated teams. 'Trailing in the Rose Bowl with a national championship on the line, the Longhorns faced fourth-and-5 in the waning seconds against the Trojans, the defending national champs. But Young scrambled right, then dashed past the pylon for the game-winning touchdown, lifting the unbeaten Longhorns to their first national title in 35 years,' wrote ESPN's Jake Trotter. Only two plays outranked Young's legendary dash: Auburn's 'kick-six' in the 2013 Iron Bowl and Boise State's trick-play finish in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. Nussmeier worked alongside new Saints head coach Kellen Moore in Philadelphia. Moore intends to call the plays, but tabbing a familiar face in Nussmeier to administer the offense made perfect sense. While at the camp, Nussmeier was seen talking to Moore. He also took time to sign autographs. There's already speculation about Nussmeier being an option for the Saints in the 2026 NFL Draft. Nussmeier is expected to be one of the top QBs on the board, and the Saints are projected to have one of the top picks. The Saints picked QB Tyler Shough in the 2025 draft, but there are questions about his long-term viability as the Saints' starter. Nussmeier was one of the best quarterbacks in the country as LSU finished the season on a three-game win streak. According to BetMGM, Nussmeier ranks No. 2 on the Heisman Trophy odds board, only trailing Texas QB Arch Manning. 2024 was Nussmeier's first season as LSU's full-time starter. In four years at LSU, Nussmeier has 5,772 yards and 40 touchdowns.
