Snoop Dogg joins battle of Championship's celebrity owners with Swansea arrival

Hollywood A-listers Reynolds and McElhenney bought Welsh club Wrexham in 2020 and have turned them into a global brand, partly due to the accompanying documentary.
The actors have taken a firm interest in the club, which has gone from the National League to the second tier with three successive promotions. Wrexham will be eyeing a fourth this term.
Birmingham's journey under an American consortium, which includes seven-times Super Bowl champion Brady, who owns a minority stake, has not been such plain sailing as they were relegated to the third tier shortly after the takeover.
But they bounced back in record-breaking fashion, winning promotion to the Championship with a world-record 111 points last term, and they will also be eyeing a place in the Premier League.

American rapper Snoop Dogg's arrival completes a summer of change at the Welsh club Swansea, who were bought out by a consortium, including former Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric.
Snoop Dogg has joined the party, citing an allegiance with the club's working-class roots, and he intends to help the Swans take the crown of top dogs in Wales.

The Austrian side have been trailing him since his successful 18-month loan at Melbourne City - and despite regularly featuring for the Hoops in pre-season the Australia international's Celtic career looks to be coming to an end. Sky Sports Germany report that the 23-year-old will leave on loan with an obligation to buy for €1.5 million next summer. Daizen Maeda's future has been questioned amid ongoing contract talks with Brentford said to be among the clubs interested - while his fellow Japan international Reo Hatate has been touted with a switch to Udinese. But Hoops' hero Stiliyan Petrov reckons that the door should be closed on the duo departing this summer - and questioned why they would want to leave Glasgow's east end at this stage. Asked about the duo, Petrov told the Sunday Post: "When you win trophies year in and year out and do well in Europe, your players will attract attention. "That is only natural. But Celtic is a brilliant place to be and not too many footballers get the opportunity to play in front of 60,000 fans every other week. "I accept there are a few other leagues stronger than the Premiership. There is an attraction, of course. "I felt that many years ago when I wanted to try English football and signed for Aston Villa. "But I feel Celtic is a really good place to be right now. There is so much to look forward to. "Brendan is a top manager and he improves players. He loves to work on the grass on a daily basis and gets so much enjoyment out of his coaching sessions. The team is going for sessions. "The team is going for another league title and that will be five-in-a-row. So, what's not to like? "The new season will be here before we know it and the real business will be underway. "I hope the Celtic squad is settled by then and the manager knows what he has to work with."

Matt Fitzpatrick and Scottie Scheffler both work with putting expert Phil Kenyon, whose work with the latter has seen the American become the dominant figure in the world of golf Matt Fitzpatrick jokingly admitted he's been left annoyed by Phil Kenyon's partnership with Scottie Scheffler due to the American's dominance at The Open Championship. The 28-year-old held a four-stroke lead heading into the final round of the tournament at Royal Portrush. Having already won the PGA Championship earlier this year, the world No. 1 was the favourite going into the event and has so far met expectations given the high level of performance he's exhibited for several years now. It was after Scheffler's 2022/23 season - where he won just two events - that he contacted Kenyon in an attempt to improve what was the weakest aspect of his game in putting. The pair began working together three days after Scheffler texted the Brit, which has resulted in the two-time Masters champion becoming golf's biggest force of nature since the days of Tiger Woods. He's since won 10 PGA Tour events, including two majors and an Olympic gold medal, while having been ranked as the sport's number one player since May 2023. After the third round of The Open, Fitzpatrick was asked about Scheffler's impressive play, and he poured praise on his rival's improved putting thanks to the coach they both share. "His putting is night and day obviously," the 2022 US Open champion said on Saturday. "From what you guys all talk about how bad it was at one point, I didn't play with him really in that period. He's just not missed a putt today." With a pinch of humour, Fitzpatrick - who was then at third on the leaderboard with a score of nine under - shared his displeasure that Kenyon's work with Scheffler has resulted in his extended and continued dominance on the course. He added: "There isn't one putt that he's missed, and that's obviously the difference that's taken him to this unbeatable run, which is annoying for me that Phil Kenyon shared those secrets." Fitzpatrick admitted Scheffler's run of form is reminiscent to that of Woods ', but he himself is one player that's earned huge success from working with Kenyon, with the pair first joining forces when the Englishman was just 15 years of age. In 2022, Kenyon was asked by GolfMonthly on how he felt watching his student claim his maiden major at the US Open given the journey they'd be on. "It's amazing. When you say it like that, it kind of makes you feel a little bit emotional," he answered. "The hairs have just stood up on my arms. No one works harder and he's applied himself over his short career so well, it's just nice to see someone who has those dreams and works so hard achieve something. "Because you see it step by step, it just means a little bit more. It's been a real high to see him enjoy that moment and see how much it means to him. "During the celebrations, you could see how giddy he was. His family as well, Russ and Sue and his brother Alex, are such good people, down to earth people, so to see them experience that with their son and brother is phenomenal."

Inside Bryan Braman's heartbreaking final weeks after Super Bowl winner's tragic death from cancer at 38
The final weeks of NFL player Bryan Braman's life have been revealed following his tragic death earlier this week. Braman, a former NFL defensive end and member of the Super Bowl LII-champion Philadelphia Eagles, died on July 17 at the age of 38 after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in February. It has now been revealed that the former linebacker cherished his final moments with the people he loved the most - his daughters. Braman's agent, Sean Stellato, revealed to People that his client's daughters, Blakely, 11, and Marlowe, eight, 'spent the last two weeks with him when he was dying.' 'He loved his two girls so, so much. They were everything, his legacy,' he said of the late NFL player. Stellato, who described Braman as a 'true football brother,' hailed the strength of his character. 'I would say, a warrior in every sense, on the field and in life. He faced every battle with unshakable grit and heart,' said Stellato. 'And his passing really leaves a void, not only in the football community, but in the spirit of really every underdog who ever had to fight to play this game of football.' An undrafted free agent out of West Texas A&M, Braman entered the league in 2011 with the Houston Texans . He played three seasons there before spending the next four years with the Philadelphia Eagles. He also played at Idaho and Long Beach City College. Braman's final game was Super Bowl LII as a member of the Eagles, who defeated the New England Patriots . He proudly celebrated in the postgame celebration holding his daughters. Braman said after retirement that winning the Super Bowl and his daughters were 'the three greatest accomplishments in my life.' The Eagles issued a statement Thursday. 'We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bryan Braman,' it read. 'During his four seasons in Philadelphia, Bryan was a loyal teammate, a supporter of the community, and a valuable member of our Super Bowl LII-winning team. More importantly, he was a devoted father who passionately loved his family and everyone around him. 'We extend our deepest condolences to Bryan's family and all who are grieving his loss during this difficult time.' Braman, a special teams ace in his playing days, underwent multiple surgeries in the Seattle area this year. Former Texans teammate J.J. Watt was among the contributors to his GoFundMe effort, raising around $90,000 to help cover medical costs.
