Superman star David Corenswet trolls co-star Nicholas Hoult for 'copying' his VERY fashion forward look as they sport vests on press tour

Daily Mail10-07-2025
Superman and Lex Luthor are iconic DC rivals, but it seems David Corswent also gives his co-star Nicholas Hoult a hard time in real life as he trolled his outfit choice.
The hilarious exchange took place after Clark Kent actor David, 32, stepped out wearing an outfit which was near identical to Nicholas, 35, this week.
Both men sported white tank tops that showed off their muscular physiques, teamed with a pair of tailored suit trousers and dress shoes.
They also wore a sweatshirt tie around their torsos and carrying a bag as they stepped out in New York on separate occasions.
Nicholas was spotted wearing the ensemble first on June 30 in SoHo and David couldn't resist poking fun at his seriously stylish look.
He also stepped out in the city, this time in Midtown, wearing a near-identical outfit, swapping out Nicholas' designer bag for a plastic carrier bag.
David then playfully addressed their fashion faux pas in an Instagram post on Wednesday where he quipped: 'Dude's been jacking my style since 1998.'
Clearly appreciative of the joke, Nicolas reshared the post alongside a string of laughing face emoji to the tune of Rosemary Clooney's Sisters.
The two actors have been playing into their on-screen feud during the press tour, with one video recently showing Nicholas purposefully failing to catch David in a trust fall.
He then jokingly warned viewers: 'Never trust a super villain'.
Nicholas has been showing off a seriously chic transformation during the press tour for the new Superman film, where he takes on the role of the famous villain.
There was a striking difference to the Skins star's appearance as he rocked a bleached blond hair do during several recent appearances.
Since his breakout E4 role 2007 Nicholas has sported dark, short hair - but the father-of-two has switched up his look for bleached locks.
Nicholas was first seen walking around Midtown looking dapper in a brown tailored suit and a tan sweater underneath, before he was seen leaving ABC Studios having changed into a white vest and light brown short-sleeved shirt.
In his third outfit change of the day, Nicholas was then seen in SoHo in the all-white ensemble, showing off his toned physique in a white vest with a sweater draped over his shoulders.

Alongside his new starring role, Nicolas also has a new role as an ambassador for Save The Children.
He made a surprise visit to a community arts centre in East London to meet children taking part in a film and multimedia workshop focused on superheroes.
Nicolas was welcomed by a group of 7 to 11-year-olds at Rich Mix in Shoreditch after they had worked on scripting, filming and acting out their own sketches on the topic.
The visit marked Hoult's first day as an official ambassador for the charity.
Speaking on the day, he said: 'It's been a real privilege to meet the children here at Rich Mix on my first day as an official ambassador for Save the Children.
'Seeing the joy they get from the workshop reminded me how much I loved film from a young age. It's inspiring to meet such passionate young creatives from all backgrounds.'

'Is this CNN?!' Michael Smerconish goes viral as he rejects WSJ's Trump-Epstein letter

A CNN host shocked social media as he sided with Donald Trump over the latest developments in the Jeffrey Epstein saga. Michael Smerconish defended the president on his show after The Wall Street Journal published an alleged birthday letter that Trump sent to the pedophile financier. Trump denies he wrote the letter and accompanying lewd drawing. He is suing the Journal, as well as the paper's owner media mogul Rupert Murdoch personally. Smerconish shared excerpts of the letter on his show, which included an imaginary conversation between Trump and Epstein. The note allegedly concludes with Trump telling Epstein, 'May every day be a wonderful secret.' The CNN host said on Saturday, 'It's hard to believe that the president would have written the imaginary conversation between himself and Epstein 22 years ago. I mean, listen to some of the back and forth.' After reading a few excerpts, Smerconish stated, 'That doesn't sound like something Donald Trump would write.' X user @MichaelFauchea2 wrote, 'Is this CNN????????? Wow!' in response to a clip of Smerconish's remarks. Another user, who goes by the handle of @TyrannyStomper, wrote 'Man, thank you, CNN. As bad as CNN is they do get it right occasionally these days.' The bombshell report by the Journal alleges that Trump drew Epstein a 'bawdy' doodle of a topless woman, which included his signature on her pubic area. Donald Trump Jr., the president's son, declared on social media, 'In 47 years I've never seen him doodle once. Give me a break.' Vice President JD Vance posted on X defending his boss, saying that the story is 'complete and utter bulls***.' 'The WSJ should be ashamed for publishing it,' the 40-year-old VP continued. 'Where is this letter? Would you be shocked to learn they never showed it to us before publishing it? Does anyone honestly believe this sounds like Donald Trump?' Democrats have put Republicans in a bind over the matter, seizing on the bizarre explanation that Trump doesn't draw, despite there being myriad examples of the president's sketches. California Gov. Gavin Newsom hit back on Trump's claim he never drew with a picture by posting one that he donated to charity. 'Trump loves to draw,' former congressman Adam Kinzinger posted alongside a dozen of the president's drawings. 'Just saying.' Progressive Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., wrote on X: 'I don't know what's in the Epstein files, but Trump being so desperate to make this story go away is making me wonder: what's he hiding?' 'Give the American people the transparency they deserve,' she added. 'Release the full files.' Across Washington, the Epstein scandal is proving difficult to tamp down. A rebel band of Republican lawmakers including some of MAGA's biggest stars - like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert - are joining forces with hundreds of Democrats to force a bombshell ballot on the Epstein files. Despite the typical partisan battle lines being drawn on most issues in Washington, D.C. these days, this matter in particular has created an unlikely set of bedfellows. Progressive Democrat Ro Khanna and libertarian-minded Republican Thomas Massie of Kentucky teamed up last week to introduce the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which would compel Attorney General Pam Bondi to publicly release all unclassified materials relating to Jeffery Epstein. The duo's resolution is receiving the the backing of a diverse set of members, including New York socialist darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Michigan 'Squad' member Rashida Tlaib, as well as Boebert of Colorado, Nancy Mace of South Carolina, and Greene of Georgia. Khanna noted during a Thursday media appearance that his resolution had the backing of all 212 of his Democratic colleagues in the House. Even if only the 10 GOP co-sponsors of the resolution were to support it, it would easily pass the House, as just a simple majority is need, which is 218 votes out of 435.

James Gunn admits Henry Cavill's Superman firing was 'terrible'

James Gunn has opened up on the 'really unfair' way Henry Cavill was fired from DC and his role as Superman. The Witcher star first appeared as the caped superhero in 2013's Man of Steel before starring as Superman in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He also appeared in Zack Snyder's Justice League in 2021 and made a cameo appearance in 2022's Black Adam. Cavill announced in 2022 he would be returning to the role in Gunn's reimagining of the franchise, only to walk back on his comments months later when he was let go by DC. Superman, released earlier this month, stars Pearl actor David Corenswet in the titular role instead. Recalling the incident, Gunn condemned DC Studios for their handling of Cavill's role in the film. 'It's terrible – believe it or not, the day we were dealing with trying to figure out if we could take the job at DC Studios, the day the deal closed, all of a sudden, they were announcing that Henry was back,' he told the Happy Sad Confused podcast. 'I was like, 'What is going on? We know what the plan is. The plan was to come in and do Superman. It was really unfair to him and a total bummer.' 'There was a vacuum at the time and a lot of people had a take on what they wanted to do at DC and they were trying to force their way and it was just never part of the equation.' He went on to say the situation was 'really unfortunate' and he felt for the 'poor guy', but that Cavill took the news like an 'absolute gentleman.' 'He said, 'The only thing I ask is that I'm able to reveal it myself as opposed to coming from you guys.' And I'm like, 'That's a class act',' he continued. Gunn also said he would love to have Cavill in a future DC film, revealing he 'talked to him about it on that day.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Cavill shared the news he would not be returning in an Instagram post, writing: 'I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. 'After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life. 'The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.' Gunn's Superman was released on July 11 and currently holds an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with several glowing reviews. It sees Corenswet's Superman drawn into conflict and the public questioning his actions, giving tech billionaire Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) the opportunity to rid the world of Superman for good. On taking on the role and being propelled from a relative unknown actor to one of the world's most recognisable superheroes, Corenswet opened up to Metro about how he handled the news. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'Oh, I just played solitaire by myself and panicked quietly,' he said on the red carpet at London's Superman Fan Event. 'No, I had the opportunity to tell about six or seven people who I was close to and just kind of relished in this one hour where I had a big secret that nobody else knew about,' he continued. 'It's a rare moment in life, so I tried to be present with it and not be too overwhelmed. 'I got to tell my wife and a couple of family members and then just sat in a chair and waited for the news to break.' Thankfully, once David's not-so-secret identity had been exposed, he could rely on other actors who've slipped into Superman's red Speedos for advice. 'I was lucky enough to exchange letters with Tyler Hoechlin and Henry Cavill, two fellas who have played Superman before me,' he explained. Despite initial backlash over Cavill being replaced, Corenswet appears to have won fans over with his appearance in Gunn's Superman. More Trending 'There aren't enough words to describe just how much I love david corenswet as superman, and just how much of a masterpiece superman (2025) is,' Cntarogothic wrote on X. 'The thing is, sure, Henry Cavill played Superman, but David Corenswet IS Superman. Just, straight up,' Noodles_and_tea added. StacyH90 admitted: 'I was a big fan of Henry Cavill's Superman, and was bummed when it was clear we weren't getting more of him. But hot dayum David Corenswet really holds his own! He IS Superman! The man that could kill us all w/ a twitch of a finger but chooses to do good, saving squirrels too.' Cree reasoned: 'Henry Cavill and David Corenswet are both great Supermen who embody different ideals of the character and liking one more doesn't mean you have to hate the other'. Got a story? 'We're gonna use our cameras': Coldplay gives 'kiss cam' warning to concertgoers in first show since viral moment

Coldplay's Chris Martin made sure to give concertgoers a cheeky heads-up about their "kiss cam" during the band's first performance on Saturday following the viral moment that took the internet by storm last week. The concert at Wisconsin's Camp Randall Stadium was the band's first since their Boston, Massachusetts concert on Wednesday, where an embrace between Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and a blonde-haired woman was captured. Byron and the woman quickly hid when the "kiss cam" panned to them, and the moment went viral, with users claiming that he is a married man. However, NBC News has not independently confirmed this or identified the woman. In video posted to social media from Saturday's concert, Martin appears to try and steer clear of controversy by introducing the "kiss cam." "We'd like to say hello to some of you in the crowd," Martin said to cheers from the crowd. "How we're gonna do that is we're gonna use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen." Martin continued: "So please, if you haven't done your makeup, do your makeup now." He did not expressly mention Wednesday's incident. During Wednesday's performance at Gillette Stadium, a "kiss cam" was displaying couples in attendance on the screens. When it panned to one man and woman who were in an embrace, she turned around to hide her face, while the man quickly ducked out of the frame. "Oh, look at these two. You're all right," Martin said at the time, according to video footage from the concert that circulated widely online. 'You're OK. Oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.' The footage circulated like wildfire on the internet, and Byron was identified as the man embracing the woman. On Saturday, Byron stepped down from his role as the CEO of data company, Astronomer. Before his resignation, Byron was placed on leave from Astronomer. The New York-based company, which has under 500 employees according to its LinkedIn profile, appeared to address how the fanfare around the 'kiss cam' incident has affected its reputation in its Saturday statement. 'While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not,' the company said.
