Pacman Jones doesn't hold anything back on what he thinks is wrong with Tennessee Titans

Yahoo05-02-2025
Former Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones didn't hold back when discussing what he thinks is wrong with the team.
"You got rid of the identity of the team down there which was the running back," Jones said from Super Bowl radio row, promoting his podcast 'The Pacman Jones Show.' "I don't understand that part. Y'all ain't got no receivers. Y'all ain't got a quarterback. And a sub-par defense. Titans need some help."
Running back Derrick Henry left the Titans after the 2023 season. He rushed for 1,921 yards and 16 TDs in the regular season and added another 270 rushing yards and three TDs in the NFL playoffs.
Jones was the Titans' first-round pick in 2005 and spent three years on the team, playing two and serving a suspension through the third. At his best, Jones was one of the league's most dynamic players. In 2006 alone, he intercepted four passes and scored four total touchdowns between defense and special teams. But legal and disciplinary issues also defined Jones' tenure, leading to a trade in 2008.
Jones played another 10 seasons after his time with the Titans ended.
The Titans finished the 2024 season with a 3-14 record and own the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. General manager Ran Carthon was fired following the end of the season and replaced by former Kansas City Chiefs executive Mike Borgonzi. Coach Brian Callahan heads into Year 2 with serious questions about an offense that turned the ball over at an unacceptable rate and a roster that has questions everywhere from offensive line and receiver to the pass rush.
As Jones sees it, the Titans' issues are fairly simple.
"I would start at the quarterback," Jones said when asked what he'd do to fix the Titans. "I don't think Will Levis, he's not a guy that can carry a team I don't think."

When asked what he'd do to address the struggles at quarterback, Jones offered a wry answer.
"Y'all got the number one pick, don't you?" he quipped.

Former NFL Quarterback Derek Carr Quickly Lands New Job

Former NFL Quarterback Derek Carr Quickly Lands New Job originally appeared on The Spun. Back in May, the New Orleans Saints learned that veteran quarterback Derek Carr is retiring from the NFL. It only took a few months for him to write the next chapter of his career. Carr, 34, was set to enter his third season with the Saints before announcing his retirement. The veteran quarterback decided to hang up his cleats after learning he had a torn right labrum and "significant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff." The former second-round pick from Fresno State finished his NFL career with 41,245 passing yards, 257 touchdowns and 112 interceptions. 'Upon reflection of prayer, and in discussion with Heather, I've decided to retire from the National Football League,' Carr said in a press release. 'For more than 11 years, we have been incredibly blessed, and we are forever grateful and humbled by this experience. 'It's difficult to find the right words to express our thanks to all the teammates, coaches, management, ownership, team officials and especially the fans who made this journey so special. Your unwavering support has meant the world to us.' Since Carr retired after just two seasons with the Saints, he had to give up $30 million this offseason. It was a move that certainly sat well with the fan base in New Orleans. Fortunately for Carr, he'll have the chance to make plenty of money through a different profession. According to Rashad Milligan of Carr will be a studio analyst for a Week 1 showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers. That game will be exclusively on YouTube TV. Carr's former teammate will join him on YouTube TV. Former Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu is also expected to be an analyst for the Chiefs-Chargers game in Brazil. Mathieu announced his retirement right before the start of training camp. The former LSU star had 838 tackles, 100 pass break-ups, 36 interceptions and seven forced fumbles during his incredible NFL career. His biggest highlight was winning a Super Bowl with the Chiefs. Will Carr be a great analyst? Troy Aikman and Tony Romo have called plenty of marquee games for FOX and CBS, respectively. They know how to diagnose certain defensive packages and are able to predict plays before they even happen. It wouldn't shock us at all if Carr ends up being a great analyst. In fact, we expect him to be quite sharp. After all, he's not even a full year removed from the NFL. He should know what schemes the Chiefs and Chargers are running considering the Saints played against both teams during the 2024 season. Let's also not forget that Carr's older brother, David, has been an NFL Network analyst since 2016. He'll be able to receive a few pointers along the way. Cam Ward thinks Titans benefitted from his altercation with Jeffery Simmons: 'It was what we needed'

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward sparked a physical altercation with veteran defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons that led to the team needing to break them up. But the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft told reporters that's what he felt the team needed. "Jeff is strong as s---," Ward said, via ESPN. "It was fun, and I think it was what we needed. We love competing, just with me and Jeff, and I'm excited to have that man as my teammate." The incident occurred after Ward threw a touchdown to wide receiver Calvin Ridley, and as he went to celebrate, he stopped in front of Simmons to tease him with his trademark "Zombieland" celebration — something Simmons is known for after making big defensive plays. Simmons didn't like it one bit, shoving Ward in the face mask with both hands. That sparked the Titans' offensive line to quickly rush in to protect their quarterback, including left tackle Dan Moore Jr. "Absolutely not," Moore said when asked if anyone is allowed to touch the quarterback, per ESPN. "That goes without saying." But this trash-talking between Ward and Simmons is something that has been prevalent since they got on the same field together. "I get here, and he's damn near the first one I'm ready to talk s--- to," Ward said. "He's the first one that comes at my head every day at practice." Titans head coach Brian Callahan, who made the team run after the practice skirmish, acknowledged that it is wrong to touch the quarterback like Simmons did. However, he doesn't seem to mind the banter between teammates. "If the quarterback enters willingly into the fray like that, then that's on him as well," Callahan said. Simmons added: "It's training camp, and tempers flare. I respect the hell out of our offense for having the quarterback's back. At the end of the day, we're family and moved on from it." Ward is going to experience much more than Simmons trash-talking in his first year in the NFL, and perhaps the three-time Pro Bowl tackle is trying to prepare him for those situations during the regular season. We'll see if Ward will be jawing back at the Denver Broncos on Sept. 7 as he makes his NFL regular-season debut.
