Bills Select Defensive 'Steal' In New Mock Draft
It's the defense, though, that clearly needs more reinforcements.
In most mock drafts around the country, the Bills are predicted to focus solely on the defensive side of the ball with the receiver position as a potential chip-in as part of the conversation.

ESPN's top draft analyst Mel Kiper agrees with that notion. The veteran analyst predicted that the Bills would not only draft a cornerback in Kentucky's Maxwell Hairston, but also defensive tackle Tyleik Williams and safety Xavier Watts with their second round selections.
"Williams is stout against the run up the middle, but he also shows the quickness and suddenness to penetrate the backfield," Kiper said. "Over the past two seasons, he had 5.5 sacks, 34 pressures, 16.5 tackles for loss and 21 run stops. He could get into the mix up the middle with Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones, especially with Larry Ogunjobi suspended for six games."
Watts is another player who Kiper believes would fill a hole in Buffalo's defense. While the Bills were not bad in any stretch last year on that side of the ball, they did lose key free agents like Rasul Douglas and Von Miller.
Adding youth to the group is also something that many teams push for once they sign a star quarterback to a lucrative contract.
With a collection of Hairston, Watts, and Williams, the Bills get that goal accomplished.

The Chicago Bears were back at Halas Hall for their 16th training camp practice on Wednesday, and there were some headlines and standouts from another padded workout. The Bears were back at practice after a scheduled day off, and quarterback Caleb Williams rebounded in a big way after a shaky workout on Monday afternoon. Williams led the offense on a successful two-minute drill while also connecting with wide receivers Rome Odunze and Olamide Zaccheaus throughout practice. There was also an interesting development in the battle for left tackle, where Ozzy Trapilo worked at right tackle with Braxton Jones and Theo Benedet rotating with the starters at left tackle. Let's recap Day 16 of Bears training camp: What we learned Standouts Injury updates On the injury front, cornerbacks Terell Smith and Nick McCloud were at practice. Rookie offensive lineman Luke Newman also wasn't present after suffering a concussion in Sunday's preseason tie against the Miami Dolphins. While there appeared to be an injury scare early in practice with defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr., he was on the field and participating in this padded practice featuring live tackling. Nicholas Moreano noted Dexter was getting his elbow examined, and he had his left arm heavily wrapped as he rejoined the defensive line. Highlights Press conferences What's next The Bears are back at Halas Hall for their 17th training camp practice on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. CT. It will be open to fans. Buccaneers' Todd Bowles lays out Teddy Bridgewater preseason plan
The post Buccaneers' Todd Bowles lays out Teddy Bridgewater preseason plan appeared first on ClutchPoints. Fresh off a 29-7 win over the Tennessee Titans in their preseason opener, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are full steam ahead towards the 2025 regular season. Two more contests against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills await to finish the preseason slate. According to Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles, the plan for newly signed quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is to see time in each of the final tune-up games before the regular season opener against the Atlanta Falcons September 7th. 'We'll see by the practice reps and the reps he gets against the Steelers, how much he grasps,' Bowles said Monday. 'We'd like to get him in game two. If not, we'd like to have him ready to play a lot of game three.' Following a minor hand injury to starting quarterback Baker Mayfield, the Bucs signed Bridgewater to bring more experience to their quarterback room. Current backup Kyle Trask's regular season game time has been pretty limited, so if Mayfield does go down for an extended amount of time, having a signal caller like Bridgewater on the roster is helpful. Buccaneers GM Jason Licht recently said Bridgewater was the team's backup plan if they didn't sign Tom Brady in 2020. Will the veteran quarterback help raise the talent of Tampa Bay's quarterback group? Buccaneers look for even more success in 2025 The Buccaneers are going for their fifth straight NFC South title. They would also like to get further than the divisional round of the playoffs, which is where the team has fallen short a couple of times since their 2020 Super Bowl win. Adding Bridgewater could help with that. Even if the veteran doesn't see the field at all in 2025, making sure that the Bucs can stay afloat if Mayfield misses time is important. With Bridgewater now on the roster in addition to Trask, new offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard now has a good mix behind his starter. Mayfield has resurrected his career fully with the Bucs and will look to guide Grizzard's offense to even greater heights in 2025. Will Bowles and his team make another deep postseason run? Tampa Bay's roster is the deepest its been in quite some time, so this season could provide their best shot at a Lombardi Trophy since that magical run under Brady a few years ago. Ex-NFL QB: Jaxson Dart should start for New York Giants
Following his impressive NFL debut against the Buffalo Bills last weekend, New York Giants rookie Jaxson Dart received a ton of praise, including being named a top rookie QB performer in the NFL's opening weekend of the preseason. Now, after just one outing, some believe that the Dart should be the Giants' starting quarterback as early as Week 1 of the regular season. Ex-NFL quarterback Chase Daniel is the latest on the Dart starting quarterback train. In the video posted by Daniel, he walks through the progression on Dart's first touchdown and highlights his decision-making. "Watch Jaxson Dart right here, watch his left hand -- check to this. Look at that, we didn't see that. That's what I'm talking about, he checked to it. He checked to this go route, a perfectly thrown football. That's what I'm talking about," Daniel said. "Big time, calling your own shot, getting smoked, throwing a freaking touchdown like this. Not a great rep by 63 [Jake Kubas] -- hey, sometimes, you know what? You're gonna get hit, get that ball out, you can't throw it any better than this. Okay, on the ground. Let's go -- he checked to it!" Head coach Brian Daboll has been adamant that Russell Wilson will be the Giants' starter when the season begins. However, the more Dart impresses in the preseason, the more noise the Giants will hear to go with the rookie from the jump. With the Giants' less-than-favorable schedule to start the season, it may only be a matter of time before we see Dart as the starter. One this is for sure, Darts' first game action performance has fans excited for what the future may hold with their rookie QB.
