Although it's been more than 20 years since the iconic finale of aired, still fondly recalls the moments before filming each episode with her co-stars.
The 61-year-old actress, best known for her role as Monica Geller, recently shared details about the behind-the-scenes camaraderie the cast had during the tapings of the beloved show, which aired in front of a live studio audience.
Speaking at the Inc. 5000 event, Courteney Cox reminisced about the pre-show ritual that would get everyone energized before filming.
Courteney Cox Recalls 'Friends' Cast Rituals
'We'd get in a huddle and we would say, 'Alright everybody! Good luck!' And we'd give each other a hug and a high five," Cox recalled, according to PEOPLE.
Despite her usual tendency not to "pump herself up" for public appearances, she explained that the cast would share this bonding moment before stepping in front of the live audience, setting the tone for the episode.
Opening Up About The Live Audience Energy
Cox also described the unique dynamic of filming "Friends" in front of a live audience, noting how the energy of the crowd would sometimes overwhelm the show's laugh track.
"The live audience loved watching the taping so much, and sometimes producers had to cut the laugh track early so we could continue," she said, adding that the cast knew exactly what would get big laughs from the audience, so they naturally played off it and let the moment unfold.
The experience of filming "Friends" was distinct from the other scripted projects Cox has worked on since, including her role in the "Scream" franchise.
''Friends' was shot in front of a live audience, and that was a whole different thing,' she explained, reflecting on how things have changed since then. "Now, I do things that are filmed."
Courteney Cox Reflects On Strong Bond With 'Friends' Cast
The "Friends" ensemble, which included , , , , and the late created an unforgettable chemistry on screen, and Cox noted that their connection extends beyond the show.
The cast has remained close over the years, and Cox shared how their bond is just as strong today.
In 2021, Cox and the "Friends" cast reunited for the "Friends: The Reunion" special, which aired on HBO Max on May 27. LeBlanc told PEOPLE at the time that it felt like "no time had passed" when they all came together again. "We pick up right where we left off," he said, highlighting the strong bond they still share.
Matthew Perry's tragic passing on October 28, 2023, from acute effects of ketamine was a somber moment for the cast and fans alike, but their friendship continues to be a significant part of their lives.
Honoring Matthew Perry After His Tragic Passing
Two weeks after Perry's death, Cox took to social media to break her silence and pay tribute to her late friend and co-star.
"I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day," she wrote on Instagram at the time. "When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here's one of my favorites."
She shared a clip from "Friends" showing the moment Chandler (Matthew Perry) and Monica (Courteney Cox) got together in a hotel room on Ross's (David Schwimmer) wedding day.
"To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one-night fling in London," the actress explained. "But because of the audience's reaction, it became the beginning of their love story."
"In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say," she recalled. "He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind."
Monica's Closet Comes to Life
Cox's relationship with her "Friends" character, Monica Geller, is still a part of her daily life, as seen in a recent Instagram post.
As The Blast reported, the actress took her 15 million followers on a quirky tour through her Malibu home, specifically through her coat closet. Much like her character Monica's infamous 'secret closet' from "Friends," which was packed with a mix of organized chaos, Cox's closet also revealed an eclectic mix of items, some more bizarre than others.
'I have masks of myself!' Cox laughed as she showed off a Ghostface mask popcorn bucket and several paper masks featuring her own face, a gift from her dog walker.
Fans of "Friends" will recall the memorable scene from Season 6, "The One with the Secret Closet," where Monica's closet was a hidden space filled with clutter and disarray, a stark contrast to her typically organized and controlling personality.
Cox's closet, while not as chaotic, echoed that same sense of playful, unexpected finds, much like the character she portrayed.

Disney World Unveils New Pirate-Themed Pub with Nostalgic 'Pirates of the Caribbean 'Touches

The restaurant is slated to open on Friday, Aug. 29NEED TO KNOW Disney shared a first look at The Beak and Barrel, a new Pirate-themed bar and restaurant in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort The menu includes rum cocktails, tropical mocktails and octopus salad with Piquillo pepper-almond foam Fans can make reservations starting on Aug. 14 and purchase themed merch like T-shirts and parrot plushiesWalt Disney World Resort announced the opening of Magic Kingdom's Adventureland's newest bar and restaurant, The Beak and Barrel, back in May and recently shared the first looks of its Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired offerings. On Tuesday, Aug. 5, Disney unveiled a few of the dishes guests will be able to enjoy at the new outpost, from tropical beverages to deep-sea-themed eats, along with a sneak peek at the restaurant's merchandise that features clothing attire and plushies. Guests (or pirates) can look forward to The Treasure Trove – a non-alcoholic concoction of ube, lemon and coconut served with vanilla cake plank, chocolate cannonball and golden caramel popcorn – and The Cursed Treasure, a non-alcoholic beverage thats a blend of 'coconut milk and cookie crumbs topped with vanilla foam and pirate's gold cookie.' The drink is meant to invoke that 'cookies and cream' flavor that all ages enjoy. The seven spirit-based offerings, along with an impressive wine and exclusive draft beer lineup, include the Salty Seas mARRRgarita, Barrels Ablaze, the Hibisbus Rum Punch Royale, Port of Call, Lit Fuse, Plunderer's Punch and Siren's Whisper. The latter is inspired by the Fountain of Youth, a mystical staple of the films, and comes together with Pot & Column Still White Rum with citrus and spice in a mesmerizing shade of blue. Salty Seas mARRRgarita has all the notes drinkers love in a margarita – Lalo Blanco Tequila, Cointreau Liqueur, and lime – with the addition of ube for a Southeast Asian twist. Another visually notable is the Plunderer's Punch, which consists of "KKraken Black Spiced Rum, blackberry, vanilla, and a hint of citrus" and comes in a souvenir skull mug. One of the most eye-catching dishes on the food menu is the Kraken's Catch, a cold salad mixture of olives, bell peppers, avocado and Piquillo pepper-almond foam paired with octopus tentacles marinated in lemon and lime. Other food options include Cook's Corn Griddle Cakes, a corn cake stuffed with melted cheese, lime sour cream and chili peppers topped with cotija cheese, and Island Provisions, a shareable plate of plantain chips, blue corn tortillas, and toasted flatbread that comes with a variety of savory dips. Though many Disney-bound adults are impatiently waiting for the new eatery, some online critics found the new menu to be more promising than they believe it can offer. 'I'm excited to eventually go, but this one plate [The Kraken's Catch] stuck out to me as a little overambitious for a pirate themed tavern in MK,' wrote one curious Redditor, adding, 'I can't wait to have a couple rum cocktails and cold octopus tentacles with olives before heading back out into 95 degree heat and hopping on Thunder Mountain. I'm sure my stomach will feel amazing the rest of the day!' However, another commenter pushed back on the criticism, using the parks' Be Our Guest Restaurant and Columbia Harbor House as an example, writing, 'Be our guest has/had octopus dishes (and drinks!) so i don't think it's that crazy. it's no different than having any other seafood, like the salmon at columbia harbor house.' Whether a fan of the semi-new experimental dish or not, guests can leave with the new T-shirt inspired by The Beak and Barrel and a Parrot Shoulder Plush Reservations for The Beak and Barrel will open on Aug. 14, while the restaurant officially is set to open on Aug. 29. Is 'The Howard Stern Show' Getting Canceled? Here's What We Know

On Aug. 5, rumors began swirling that 'The Howard Stern Show' was getting canceled after more than two decades on airNEED TO KNOW Howard Stern made his debut on Sirius Satellite Radio, now known as SiriusXM, in 2006 On Aug. 5, rumors began swirling that 'The Howard Stern Show' was getting canceled Stern's most recent five-year contract is expected to expire at the end of 2025Is there change happening at The Howard Stern Show? Howard Stern began his career as a radio host in the 1980s, making his debut on Sirius Satellite Radio (now SiriusXM) in 2006. Over the years, the self-proclaimed "King of All Media" has amassed a massive fan base, was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2012 and made Forbes' 2022 list of the highest-paid entertainers. During a December 2010 episode, Stern told one of the show's writers, Sal Governale, that he had a "difficult" announcement to make: he had plans to quit. But turns out, it was all a prank. Stern continued his beloved radio show and surpassed the five-year contract that he did extend in 2010 — and then some. Most recently, in 2020, Stern renewed his SiriusXM contract on a five-year $500 million deal, per Forbes. But now that the contract is nearing its end, rumors are swirling that the radio show is on the chopping block. So, is The Howard Stern Show getting canceled? Here's everything we know so far. Is The Howard Stern Show getting canceled? On Aug. 5, several outlets reported that The Howard Stern Show was getting canceled. While his latest contract is nearing its end, Stern has not confirmed himself that his beloved radio show is coming to an end. However, if it is, SiriusXM could face some repercussions. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Credit Suisse analyst Brian Russo released a report around 2020 in which he estimated that 15% (roughly 2.7 million subscribers at the time) of Stern's listeners could cancel their SiriusXM subscriptions if the longtime radio show host retired or left the company. In October 2024, SiriusXM president and chief content officer Scott Greenstein told The Hollywood Reporter that he had not heard from Stern about wanting to leave. "He's been with me and the company going on two decades, and so he's pretty happy, but he's also able, like many great artists, to stop whenever he wants," he said. "Nobody will ever replace them. We would never try to replace them. It's not what is even appropriate, but even practical." Further, during a Q&A on a 2024 earnings call, Greenstein said he hopes Stern "continues forever." "As for Howard, he's a singular talent. No one pretended when Johnny Carson or others retired that the new group would replace them. They were just simply filling in on those slots," he said, adding that Stern "continues to excel, get us awareness and everything else that goes with what he does." PEOPLE has reached out to SiriusXM for comment. Has Stern spoken about retirement? Though Stern has yet to publicly acknowledge the cancellation rumors, he has spoken about the possibility of retiring in the past. In a 2019 episode, Stern told his co-host Robin Quivers that he was "pretty sure" he was "almost out the door," per Far Out Magazine. "When I get out of radio. I'm getting out man," he said, according to the outlet. "I'm getting out anyway because I realize that radio is affecting my health. When I'm home on the weekends I'm fine. And then when I come here all kinds of shit happens." However, per the magazine, he later denied having plans to retire and urged his fans not to take his words seriously at all times. Additionally, after signing his 2020 five-year extension, Stern made a statement in which he praised SiriusXM for how the company "liberated" him, adding, "now that I can work from home, I simply don't have an excuse to quit." What would happen to Stern's catalogue if he retired? If Stern were to retire, SiriusXM would continue to own his library of content for several years. Greenstein told The Hollywood Reporter that SiriusXM would "always have Howard's voice on our air." Additionally, as part of Stern's five-year extension deal in 2020, SiriusXM secured the rights to continue licensing the Howard Stern archive of audio and video content for an additional seven years, per SiriusXM. According to The Hollywood Reporter, SiriusXM has been preparing for the day the radio icon retires, given that he is in his 70s. The company has plans to have a roster of audio talent, per the outlet, that includes James Corden, Andy Cohen, Conan O'Brien and Alex Cooper, whose podcast Call Her Daddy made the move from Spotify to SiriusXM in 2024. "I chose Sirius because there is a lot of opportunity to go to different places and grow Call Her Daddy into something bigger," Cooper told The Hollywood Reporter in October 2024. "To see what they've done with Howard Stern is incredible." Read the original article on People
