Festival gets set to rock as it changes venue

CHESIL is preparing to rock once more - but it's going to be a little different this year.
It's all change for the family-friendly festival Chesil Rocks, which includes 'comedy, live music, community spirit and fun', as it moves from its outdoor setting at Langton Herring to Weymouth Pavilion.
As reported, organisers Tim and Hilary Warren, who hosted the festival at their home, said the event had 'got too much' and was 'taking over their lives'.
But it's not the end of the event, which raises money for the Samaritans of Dorset.
The couple have moved the festival to Weymouth Pavilion Ocean Room with the aim of creating 'a legacy' fundraising event.
Taking place on Saturday, June 21, this year's event is being billed as 'the best yet', with a packed line-up of local, regional and national talent, plus 'that unique atmosphere that makes Chesil Rocks so special'.
Highlights include:
-Comedy compèred by Tom Glover and featuring Nina Gilligan and Jake Lambert
-Live music from a diverse range of acts including the London Gay Men's Chorus, Upton, McIntosh, Wilson and Friends, rock covers band Balance of Power, the Pete Brown Blues Band, Chris Davies, 80's/90's electropop band Electronique, the Dorset Rock Choir and the Portesham Ukulele Band with Sam Brown.
Hilary and Tim Warren said: 'Every year, Chesil Rocks brings people together not just to enjoy music, but to support a fantastic cause.
'Dorset should be very proud of their Samaritans – every one a volunteer – as recent figures have highlighted that our Samaritans in Dorset on average spend longer listening to callers, compared to at other branches in the south west.
'Our fundraising enables them to worry less about the £40,000 they need to raise each year to keep their branch open, and instead focus more on what they do best."
Tickets are on sale now at www.chesilrocks.com or directly from the Pavilion at www.weymouthpavilion.com
Follow Chesil Rocks on Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok for line-up announcements and festival updates.

Resident Evil 9 Lets You Swap Between First-Person And Third-Person Whenever You Want

Resident Evil Requiem, aka the game we are all going to refer to as Resident Evil 9, was revealed during last week's Summer Game Fest. The trailer didn't confirm what perspective Requiem will use, but now we know via a hands-off demo that when Capcom's latest horror game arrives in February 2026, it will feature both a first-person and third-person option. At Summer Game Fest, Kotaku's Kenneth Shepard attended a hands-off demo of Resident Evil Requiem, which featured a new character, Grace Ashcroft, strapped to a gurney in a decrepit and dirty hospital. We saw Grace in the game's first trailer. During the demo, she escaped from the building, found a lighter, and used a fuse to solve a puzzle. Eventually, without a weapon to defend herself, she ran into some creepy monsters. That's where the demo ended. All in all, pretty standard Resident Evil stuff! The entire demo up to this point was in first-person, similar toResident Evil 7 and Village. But then, at the very end, Capcom reloaded a save file and paused Requiem. They then switched to third-person for a moment before ending the demo. So we didn't get to see a ton of gameplay in that perspective, but it's clear that Capcom wants everyone to know that this time around, you'll be able to swap between first-person and third-person whenever you want. This is a departure from recent Resident Evil games, which have been first-person only. Some longtime Resident Evil fans didn't like this, and Capcom even added a third-person mode in Village after launch. Requiem launching with this is a big deal and a sign that Capcom is listening to longtime fans, even as it continues to experiment with its long-running series. Resident Evil Requiem launches on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 27, 2026. . For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
