Much-needed rain to build into B.C. for election day
Folks heading out to vote in Monday's election will have to grab an umbrella to head to the polls, which will be open Monday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Pacific Time Zone.
While this won't be a blockbuster rainfall event, any measurable precipitation is good news this time of year as we inch closer to wildfire season.

A low-pressure system will move into the B.C. coast on Monday, bringing showers to the region throughout the day.
Expect rain to start for the Central Coast on Monday morning, with the cold front dipping south through the day. Rain will arrive for your evening commute across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.
Light rain will persist through the remainder of the evening. We'll see more on-and-off showers Tuesday afternoon before tapering off into Tuesday evening.

Rainfall totals will remain on the lighter side, with a widespread 5-10 mm expected for the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. Some higher elevations, as well as communities up the coast toward Bella Bella, are on track to see 30 mm of rain from this event.
Vancouver has only seen 63.3 mm of rain so far this month through April 25. The city's average April rainfall comes in around 85 mm. This upcoming batch of light rain will make a dent in the deficit, but we've still got some room for improvement.

Get ready for more wildfire smoke to waft into Ontario by Saturday
Cooler weather arrived in Ontario with an unpleasant side effect into the day Thursday. Northwesterly winds lowered temperatures while increasing the amount of smoke blowing over the region. Folks who are sensitive to lower air quality should use caution over the next couple of days—especially on Saturday, when another notable plume of smoke will push into the province. DON'T MISS: Wildfire smoke from northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba is riding the jet stream directly toward the Great Lakes region, lowering air quality across much of Ontario. Air quality levels and a distinct smoky smell filled the skies over much of the province through the day Thursday. While Friday should bring some clearer skies, the smoky conditions may be far from over. Favourable winds will sweep another push of wildfire smoke across most of Ontario heading into our Saturday. Given the trajectory of the smoke, cottage-goers and campers may be more affected by the smoke than folks staying in southern Ontario. Very thick smoke is likely north toward Moosonee. Wildfire smoke can cause respiratory problems in those who suffer from chronic illnesses or respiratory diseases.
