'King of the Hill' revival honors Jonathan Joss with tribute
The late 'King of the Hill' voice actor, who was shot and killed on June 1 in San Antonio, Texas, was honored Monday with an on-screen tribute at the end of the animated sitcom's Season 14 finale.

Joss was fatally shot outside his home on June 1 following an alleged fight with his neighbor, Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez. He was 59.

The beloved actor, who also appeared in shows like 'Parks and Recreation' and 'Tulsa King,' was reportedly found lying 'near the roadway' when authorities were dispatched to a shooting in progress and arrested Alvarez.
Although police claimed Alvarez confessed to shooting and killing Joss, he was released on June 2 on a $200K bail bond.

Tristan Kern de Gonzales, Joss' husband, who was with the actor at the time of his death, has claimed that the 'King of the Hill' star was a victim of a homophobic hate crime.
'He was laughing,' Kern de Gonzales alleged after the shooting. 'He mocked me for telling my husband that I loved him and used the same homophobic slurs.'
'I was just really looking down at my husband, focused on him, making sure that he had completely crossed over,' Joss' husband added.

Although the San Antonio Police Department originally said that their investigation discovered 'no evidence to indicate that Mr. Joss's murder was related to his sexual orientation,' Chief of Police William McManus later walked back that initial statement.
'That was way, way, way, premature,' McManus said during a subsequent press conference. 'We shouldn't have done it. It was way too soon before we had any real information. And I will own that.'
'I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the tragic loss of Mr. Joss, which has been heavily felt,' he added. 'Our homicide detectives are continuing to pursue every lead in this case to ensure that we understand the full picture of what led up to the senseless murder of Mr. Joss.'

Joss joined 'King of the Hill' after Victor Aaron, the original voice actor for John Redcorn, passed away in a car crash in September 1996.
He remained on the animated sitcom until its 13th season in 2009, and was set to reprise his role as John Redcorn for the revival, which was released in its entirety on Monday, Aug. 4, on Hulu, according to People.
However, Joss was reportedly escorted out of a 'King of the Hill' panel at the ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas, on May 30 after he tried to talk to the show's co-creators, Mike Judge and Greg Daniels.

'Rest in peace, Jonathan Joss,' Judge, Daniels and Saladin Patterson wrote on Instagram after Joss' death. 'Jonathan brought King of the Hill's 'John Redcorn' to life for over a dozen seasons, including in the upcoming revival.'

Hulu isn't shutting down: What's going on with Disney+, Hulu and ESPN
Don't say goodbye to Hulu just yet. Disney isn't axing its streaming service like some reports suggest, but the company will further integrate Hulu and Disney+ in 2026 amid rough terrain in the streaming business. During an earnings call Wednesday, Aug. 6, Disney CEO Bob Iger explained what the future will hold for the company's two streaming services, which are currently available by themselves, as a bundle with ESPN+ or together in a single app via "Hulu on Disney+." Iger hyped a newly integrated app debuting in 2026 on the call, saying "this will create an impressive package of entertainment, pairing the highest-caliber brands and franchises, great general entertainment, family programming, news and industry-leading live sports content in a single app." The mention of live sports suggested that content from the company's ESPN brand could play into the new app. Currently it is available as a cable subscription and will launch as its own app later in August. Disney confirmed to USA TODAY that Hulu is not going away − Hulu and Disney+ will continue to each be available to purchase as standalone products. Disney's choice marked the latest example in a consolidation trend among streaming services in a new landscape marked by fewer services, fewer new shows, password-sharing crackdowns, rising prices and lots of commercials. Disney also revealed Aug. 6 that its standalone ESPN streaming service will be available on Aug. 21 for the previously announced price of $29.99 a month. Exclusive: Sylvester Stallone Starts a War in the 'Tulsa King' Season 3 Trailer
Tulsans, rejoice: Sylvester Stallone is back. It's been a little over half a year since his Tulsa King character, Dwight 'the General' Manfredi, was kidnapped from his bed at the end of the Paramount+ drama's season 2 finale. His mysterious captors told the former Mafia capo that 'you work for us now' before the credits kept audiences guessing. Though the first teaser trailer for season 3 (below), debuting exclusively in Esquire, doesn't reveal their identities just yet—it seems Manfredi safely leaves the situation with a clear goal in mind. This season, he's got his eye on adding the Montague Distillery to his roster of legitimate (and not-so-legitimate) businesses. 'The distillery is an interesting business,' Manfredi says in the trailer, 'and we got to know to the enemy.' According to Paramount, the new villain is Jeremiah Dunmire (Robert Patrick). The former 1923 actor joins the series as the patriarch of a 'powerful old-money family that doesn't play by old-world rules, forcing Dwight to fight for everything he's built.' In the trailer, Manfredi also pulls a pistol on Bill Bevilaqua (Frank Grillo)—the Kansas City mob boss and the main antagonist of season 2. It seems that the General will need to fight off enemies from multiple fronts when Tulsa King returns to Paramount+ on 21 September. 'They're threatening everybody in my life," Manfredi warns. 'If you think you're going to take me out, it's going to be really difficult." Season 3 will also introduce Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a former inmate who did serious prison time with Manfredi before the series began. Washington Jr. is sent by New York's Renzetti crime family to kill Manfredi, but that's a tall order. Maybe it's just that classic Stallone charm. As previously reported, Jackson will co-star in a couple of episodes of season 3 before his character is inspired to start his own operation back home in New Orleans, Louisiana. His adventures will continue in a future spin-off series titled NOLA King. Until then, it's a busy second half of the year for Taylor Sheridan's Paramount+ empire. The Yellowstone creator will also release Mayor of Kingstown season 4, Landman season 2, and eventually a trio of Yellowstone sequel spin-offs: Dutton Ranch, Y: Marshalls, and The Madison.
